"Your basic budget hotel"

I stayed here for 3 days in March 2025, and while the location was good—close to plenty of street food, restaurants, and about a 30-minute walk to the mall and night markets—the hotel itself left a lot to be desired. The room was very small and cramped, with just a bed, bathroom, closet, and safe. The door locks felt outdated and insecure, relying on a basic key and latch. Housekeeping was disappointing, as I found garbage from the previous guest left inside the closet. Noise was also a big issue since the thin doors let in every sound from loud tourists in the hallway, making it hard to sleep. The shower setup was overly complicated with multiple knobs to control the heater and water, and even then, the temperature constantly fluctuated from hot to cold, making a proper shower impossible. Overall, the location is convenient, but the poor maintenance, lack of soundproofing, and outdated facilities make it hard to recommend this hotel.

"Close to airport link. Mediocre hospitality."

I spent three nights in a standard room with no window. Overall, the experience was average—not terrible, but not particularly good either. The location is excellent if you’re using the airport link, with Central World and the canal pier about a 15-minute walk away. There’s also a 7-Eleven nearby and several restaurants within a couple of blocks. The hotel has a unique vibe with wood paneling and stylish decor. The bed was comfortable, the AC and Wi-Fi worked well, and the shower had good pressure and temperature. Unfortunately, the service was underwhelming. The staff were unfriendly and seemed reluctant to help, even with basic tasks like check-in. The persistent taxi driver stationed outside the hotel was also frustrating. Additionally, construction noise was an issue, starting as early as 4am one morning, and guests were not informed in advance. For the price we paid for a room without a window, and given the lack of hospitality, I wouldn’t stay here again despite the convenient location.

"not advisable"

I booked this hotel a month in advance and paid the full amount upfront, yet when I arrived for check-in, the rooms were not ready. The staff showed no respect for tourists—especially foreign visitors—and the receptionist was extremely rude in their responses. On top of that, the rooms were much smaller than the photos advertised online. Overall, a very disappointing experience with poor management and zero hospitality.

"OK for a couple of nights"

The biggest plus of this budget hotel is its location—close to shopping attractions and just a short walk to the airport link station. The area is very popular with Indian visitors, and there are plenty of restaurants nearby catering to that community. The hotel itself is a bit dated. The room I stayed in felt dark and somewhat depressing due to the odd window design, so I wouldn’t recommend it for more than a couple of nights. That said, the room was spacious and clean, as was the bathroom. I didn’t try the hotel breakfast but enjoyed the restaurant across the road, which served decent meals at good prices. The staff were friendly and accommodating, and you can relax out front with a cold beer at what’s probably one of the cheapest prices in Bangkok. Overall, if you’re looking for a budget-friendly stay in a convenient location, Chang Siam Inn can be a solid choice.

"Nice enough hotel, shocking service"

Our room had no window, which wasn’t an issue since we only used it for sleeping. The bigger problem was the reception staff, who were rude and unhelpful, seeming more focused on their hair and makeup than assisting guests. On the positive side, the waiters and other staff were friendly and attentive, and the hotel’s location is convenient for shopping.

"Great location, nice lobby average breakfast and outdated rooms."

The staff were friendly, and we enjoyed the area. The hotel is within walking distance of many downtown attractions, which was a big plus. However, it clearly caters to large tour groups, so the dining room was extremely busy during breakfast hours. Our room was clean but very small and outdated, and the bathroom definitely needs some upgrades. Overall, it’s fine for a short stay of one or two nights, but not somewhere I’d choose for a longer visit.

"Unnecessory Rules, Bad Desk Staff"

We stayed here from 27th to 29th May 2024. Unfortunately, this hotel is not worth staying at, especially since there are many better options available in the same area for the same rate. They asked for a 500 THB deposit, which was surprising as I’ve never experienced that before. The front desk staff seemed careless and even forgot to give us our requested wake-up call, which almost caused us to miss our flight. Overall, a very disappointing experience.

"WORST, RUDE STAFF EVER"

Never ever!! I was extremely disappointed with the staff here. Two ladies at the reception were very rude, impolite, and unprofessional. I booked a room two months in advance and arrived today at 8:30 am after traveling for 17 hours. When I greeted them and mentioned my reservation, they didn’t even say hello or ask my name. Still sitting, they just told me, “The room will be ready at 2pm”—five and a half hours later! I explained that I had sent an email with my arrival time but never got a reply, and that I urgently needed a shower after such a long trip. There is nowhere on their website that states check-in is only after 2pm. They didn’t even apologize, simply saying, “All hotels are the same.” In the end, I left my suitcase there and immediately booked a much nicer room next door, losing some money but with no other choice. I travel a lot, and this is only the second hotel in my life where I’ve been treated this badly. The staff were not just impolite—they were confrontational. Honestly, I am not exaggerating. Never again.

"Housekeeper is not really good"

I stayed here for 3 days and 3 nights, renting 2 rooms. On the first day, both rooms were very clean and tidy at check-in, which gave me a good impression. However, the housekeeping service was disappointing. On the second day, my room wasn’t cleaned at all. On the third day, the housekeeper knocked and offered to make up the room, but all they did was rearrange things instead of actually cleaning—there was still hair and dust on the floor. Even after I asked them to clean again, they only emptied the trash. Strangely, only one of the two rooms I rented was cleaned properly during my entire stay.

"Beautiful Budget Hotel."

I stayed in the Pratunam area in Bangkok for a short vacation, and this hotel fit all our needs perfectly. The location is very accessible, and everything listed on the website was accurate and even exceeded my expectations. Clean and comfortable rooms Friendly and helpful staff Spot-on amenities Lots of 7-Elevens and food places nearby The hotel also has a nice reception and breakfast area, and—excuse me for being silly—they serve the cheapest beer I’ve seen around, which was a pleasant surprise! The only minor downside was that when booking Grab, there are guard-house checkpoints at the street entrances that charge 30 Baht, unless you get the ticket validated. Overall, we were very satisfied with our stay at Chang Siam Inn and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Bangkok.

Chang Siam Inn

Stylish budget inn in Pratunam. Wooden interiors make it warm and inviting. A favorite among repeat visitors.
