"Disappointing accommodation in Delhi"
Firstly, the location is not ideal in terms of access to restaurants and other points of interest. While the room size was fine, the door frames, A/C unit controller, and bathroom were not clean, and there was nowhere in the bathroom to place a washbag or shaving kit. Hospitality was good and the food was okay, but being faced with three unsealed jam jars, one of which was half empty, at breakfast was very disappointing.
"A Peaceful and Welcoming Stay"
It was a very pleasant stay in a calm and peaceful setting. The rooms were neat, clean, and well-maintained, making it very comfortable. They served delicious homely food, and the banana bread was simply awesome. The staff were extremely polite and attentive. Overall, a highly recommended place to stay in Delhi.
"Pleasant and convenient hotel"
The hotel is situated in a quiet and leafy area, which was greatly appreciated. The room was very comfortable, and the staff were extremely helpful. Breakfast was good, with proper coffee, which was a nice touch. It was a pity that the terrace was closed due to the weather, but overall, it was a truly lovely hotel.
"Not bad but could definitely do better"
The hotel is located in a remote area with a small collection of authentic shops about a 12-minute walk from Defenses Colonel Park, which is very nice. Unfortunately, the hotel itself is not very well maintained; the décor lacks charm, and everything feels a bit outdated. On the positive side, the rooftop is a very pleasant space where tea is offered at the end of the day, creating a lovely atmosphere. Breakfast is excellent, and the owner and staff are very friendly and welcoming. It’s just a pity the property isn’t better kept, as it has a lot of potential.
"Great b and b"
This is a great B&B offering good breakfast and dinner, excellent service, and very clean accommodations. It’s located in a safe neighborhood, which adds to the comfort of the stay. The only downside is that there’s nothing nearby for going out for drinks, and the property itself doesn’t have a bar or similar amenities. Nevertheless, we highly recommend this place for its quality and hospitality.
"OK solution for Delhi"
It’s hard to find a reasonably priced hotel in Delhi, and this one seems to mainly cater to Western guests. The rooms are small and a bit soulless, but they are clean. The hotel is situated in a rather uninspiring residential area, though the staff is friendly, especially the all-male kitchen team. Breakfast is excellent, and while the evening meal (available on order) is fine, it feels expensive by Indian standards.
"Safe, central place with good sized rooms"
The hotel is in a safe area of Delhi and the rooms are a good size and clean. However, as a solo traveler, I wasn’t comfortable being placed in an annexe down the road from the main hotel, which was completely deserted. The rooftop café is a nice touch, but it’s disappointing that you are required to pay for a full 3-course dinner even if you only want a small meal.
"Quiet Friendly Hotel, but Variable Room Standards."
The hotel is located in a quiet area of Delhi, away from the chaos, but our experience was mixed. We arrived late at night from Shimla and were shown by the gatekeeper to a small, spartan ground-floor room (Rm 103) outside the main hotel building, adjacent to the main thoroughfare. With two large suitcases, there was barely any room to move, and it felt a significant step down from our previous accommodation. The next morning, I saw Rm 402 on the fourth floor, which looked far better and is often seen in the hotel’s promotional photos. My initial request to move was met with a curt refusal from a member of the Indian management staff, but thankfully Esther, one of the Filipino reception staff, was much more accommodating and quickly arranged the transfer. Thank you, Esther! The rooftop dinner was enjoyable, though the menu was limited and it was quite chilly in February. Walking to nearby restaurants is possible, but the roads in Defence Colony are not especially pedestrian-friendly at night. While we met lovely fellow travelers and appreciated Esther's efforts, overall this was the most disappointing stay out of the ten different hotels and homestays we visited in India over 18 days. Sorry, Colonel.
"Very “basic” room but the food was delicious"
My wife and I stayed one night at the Colonel's Retreat and, unfortunately, our experience was underwhelming. To be fair, we arrived around midnight, but the "welcome" was very poor. There was no food, lounge, or comfortable place to relax, and only minimal staff available to assist us. The room itself was extremely small, with just enough space for the double bed and little else. However, the next morning we were served a delicious breakfast on the room patio, which was the highlight of our stay and the reason I rated it as "poor" rather than "terrible." Not a place I would choose again, but the breakfast was a redeeming factor.
"Very hospitable host"
My friends were very happy with the hospitality, and I’m so glad I chose this place. The team truly made us feel at home and comfortable throughout our stay. Thank you for the warm welcome and thoughtful service – it really made a difference!
"Peaceful location personal service"
Great location – super peaceful, private, and very safe. It’s also just a short walk to the nearest metro, which made getting around easy. Breakfast on the balcony was a lovely experience, and the staff were incredibly kind and helpful throughout our stay. The accommodation is more of a charming bed-and-breakfast style than a typical hotel, with comfortable and quiet rooms. Definitely recommend staying here!
"Very friendly …….but cold in January!!"
After a long flight, we were so relieved to be warmly welcomed at this hotel. A hot shower (with fabulous towels) and a short rest had us ready to start sightseeing in Delhi. Unfortunately, we couldn’t get the fan heater in the room to work (likely operator error!) and the staff didn’t quite understand our request for help, so we found the room a bit cold. The owners were absolutely delightful and made us feel very welcome during our short stay. That said, the property could use a little TLC – a fresh coat of paint and some small updates would make a big difference.
