"Rather Ordinary"

I found this place quite overrated. While the food wasn’t terrible, it also wasn’t anything special—just average dishes presented at an unusually high price. For what it costs, the overall experience felt disappointing. I wouldn’t be in a hurry to return or recommend it to others.

"Go if you can snag a table!"

I’ve been wanting to dine at Don Angie for years, but it always seemed impossible to get a reservation. Thankfully, after the restaurant switched from Resy to OpenTable, booking became slightly easier—and one morning, I finally got lucky! We ordered all the classics: the Chrysanthemum Salad, stuffed garlic flatbread, and the famous pinwheel lasagna. Each dish was absolutely top-notch. The BBQ calamari was an unexpected addition to the menu but turned out to be a pleasant surprise, perfectly executed and flavorful. Every plate stood out, but the lasagna, in particular, was as delicious as its reputation suggests—and the portion was generous enough for leftovers. Overall, Don Angie truly lived up to the anticipation.

"Creative menu and cocktails"

Reservations here are quite difficult to secure, but my daughter managed to get one for two on Sunday at 4:00 PM. As frequent travelers to Italy and lovers of authentic Italian cuisine, we were excited to dine at this highly acclaimed restaurant. Our server, Amelia, was exceptional—friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable, answering all our questions with care. We began with the Rosemary Clooney cocktail and a margherita, both of which were unique and enjoyable. The Chrysanthemum Salad was a highlight—fresh, flavorful, and definitely worth recommending. However, the much-praised lasagna turned out to be a disappointment. The dominant flavor came from an overly creamy white filling, with very little red sauce and sparse bits of meat. At $64, it felt overpriced and underwhelming, especially compared to the many better versions I’ve had elsewhere. The cauliflower side dish was also not one I would recommend. For dessert, the sorbet was light and refreshing, though the burnt pear pieces on top detracted from the experience. Overall, while the service was truly superb, the food fell short of expectations, especially given the restaurant’s reputation and pricing.

"Unusual Twists to Familiar Italian Dishes! Very Impressed!"

We were lucky to snag a reservation for the perfect corner table, which seated our group of eight comfortably. Visiting from Cleveland—Angie’s hometown—we came to celebrate our son’s 30th birthday with him and his wife, who live in the city. From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by both the service and the food. Every dish we ordered was outstanding—the garlic flatbread, chrysanthemum salad, various pasta dishes, and of course, the famous lasagna roll-ups, all left us absolutely delighted. The black cocoa tiramisu was a unique and delicious finale, and even my simple vodka tonic stood out for its quality. It’s clear that top-notch ingredients make all the difference. I’d highly recommend Don Angie to anyone looking for a creative twist on classic Italian dishes—every bite was bursting with exceptional flavor.

"not sure what the hype is about"

A close friend booked us dinner at this Michelin-starred Italian restaurant in NYC, and while the experience was pleasant, it didn’t quite live up to the hype. The service was truly phenomenal—attentive and polished from start to finish—but the food itself was just okay. I’ve had far better gnocchi elsewhere, and although the lasagna had an interesting presentation, the flavor didn’t impress. On the plus side, the prices were reasonable for a Michelin-starred spot, but overall, it’s not a place I’d rush back to.

"A great experience"

This was truly an incredible experience—probably the best restaurant I’ve ever been to. We enjoyed calamari, two different kinds of pasta, the flatbread, salad, and dessert, and every dish was absolutely amazing. Of course, I might be a little biased—my son works in the kitchen—but even so, the food and overall experience were outstanding. A memorable meal in every way!

"FInally got a seat in this Michelin restaurant"

Getting a reservation here is more trouble than it’s worth—no one answers the phone, and it’s either through Resy or by walking up to join the waitlist. Once seated, we did enjoy some standout dishes: the stuffed bread, lasagna, and pasta with olives were all excellent. However, the pasta with mussels had an odd flavor that none of our party of three enjoyed. The atmosphere is extremely casual—most guests wear flip-flops and t-shirts—so there’s no need to dress up. Overall, while a few dishes impressed, the frustrating reservation process and inconsistent food make it hard to justify the effort.

"Not your usual Italian fare"

Given the hype and the challenge of securing a reservation, Don Angie lived up to its reputation for being both unique and unexpected. We began with the flatbread—thin, cheesy, and garlicky, almost like an exceptionally delicious parantha. It paired perfectly with the chrysanthemum salad, which offered a bright, garlicky bite and delightful crispy croutons. From the pasta selections, the Buffalo Milk Caramelle stood out as the most distinctive dish—sweet, perhaps a touch too sweet for some tastes—while the Stracchino Gnocchi was rich, creamy, and perfectly balanced by the freshness of the broccoli rabe. The famed rolled lasagna, though beautifully presented, leaned a bit dry, and the fried veal was not a favorite at our table. However, the “Italian Coffee Situation,” their take on an espresso martini, was smooth and exceptional. Overall, Don Angie impressed with its creativity and bold flavors, even if a few dishes didn’t quite hit the mark.

"? michelin star?"

Isn’t service supposed to be part of the dining experience? Unfortunately, the maître d’ was unfriendly and rude, and our waitress wasn’t particularly welcoming either. The cocktails lacked creativity, though I did appreciate the cozy, intimate feel of the small booths. On a positive note, the food itself was excellent—the prosciutto papaya salad, Japanese sweet potatoes, lasagna, and focaccia were all outstanding. Sadly, the orange duck fell flat, much like the service. Despite the quality of the food, I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant; there are plenty of other places that offer equally good dishes while treating guests with far more warmth and professionalism.

"Incredible"

This is hands down my favorite restaurant in the entire U.S. From the perfectly crafted lasagna to the decadent tiramisu, every dish is exceptional. The chilled wines complement the meal beautifully, and the warm, inviting atmosphere makes the entire experience unforgettable. Everything about this place is truly impeccable.
