"Drukair – Damaged Luggage"
While the flight itself was fine and the view of Everest was spectacular, the baggage handling and customer service with Druk Air were appalling. Our luggage was mishandled—literally jumped on to make it fit—and my expensive suitcase arrived badly damaged with deep cuts. The airline offered only ~$20 in compensation or a bureaucratic process that required me to leave the case behind for possible evaluation days later. No temporary luggage, no real help, and no follow-up from management despite promises. If you’re touring Bhutan, don’t expect to find suitcase repair services—and certainly don’t waste your trip chasing compensation. We had to stitch and tape my case just to get home. A truly poor customer experience that left a bad impression of Bhutan’s national airline. They have a long way to go in learning what real customer service looks like.
"Friendly crew, brilliantly smooth touch-down"
That sounds like a fantastic experience! Smooth landings and a friendly cabin crew can really elevate a flight, and it’s clear Druk Air delivered on both. Their pilots are especially renowned for handling the challenging approach into Paro with precision.
"It’s a monopoly to fly to Bhutan!"
That's a fair and honest take — when there's no competition on a route like Singapore to Paro, the pricing often reflects that lack of choice. At that price point, basic amenities like well-stocked toilets and decent food should be a given, so it's understandable that you'd expect more.
"Excellent service"
It’s great to hear both your Druk Air flights were smooth and comfortable! Their consistency and cleanliness, even on shorter regional routes like Bumthang to Paro, really speak to their quality standards. The snack service is a nice touch too, especially on brief flights.
"Equal to larger carriers."
That sounds like a truly magical experience—flying into Bhutan is more than just travel, it's an event in itself! The dramatic approach into Paro, weaving through the Himalayan peaks, really sets the tone for arriving in such a unique and spiritual place. It’s great to hear you’ve returned for a second visit—that says a lot.
"Best Airlines in Bhutan"
That’s great to hear! Drukair certainly stands out for its experienced pilots—especially with the notoriously challenging landing at Paro Airport. It’s reassuring to know you felt safe and well-served throughout your journey.
"Service is not up to the mark"
It sounds like your flight experience to Bhutan was frustrating, especially with the significant delay and limited space on the smaller aircraft. Delays like that can be particularly inconvenient, and it’s disappointing when the in-flight experience doesn't meet expectations, especially when you're paying a premium for a trip like this. Given your experience, do you think there are specific improvements Drukair could make to enhance passenger comfort, especially considering their flight to such a unique and sought-after destination?
"Nice flight"
It seems like the charter flight you took with Drukair was a smooth experience overall, despite the aircraft being a bit older. It's good to hear that the crew was friendly, and the takeoff and landing went well, particularly the landing, which is crucial for an airport like Paro with its tricky approach. It’s also nice that the flight landed on time and that the logistics, including baggage handling, were efficient. While the lack of in-flight entertainment or personal TVs may be a downside for some, it sounds like you were able to enjoy the flight without too much inconvenience.
"Not bad"
Thanks for sharing your experience! It sounds like Druk Air delivered well on punctuality and service, though the inflight offerings like entertainment and meal variety could be improved—especially in business class where expectations are usually higher.
"Personal visit"
It’s great to hear that Druk Air maintained good service even during a weather delay — those can be frustrating, but courteous staff and thoughtful amenities definitely help. The 30kg luggage allowance is also generous compared to many other regional carriers. Did the delay affect any of your plans on arrival, or were you able to adjust smoothly?
"Open jaw through Hahn Air"
It sounds like you found a clever workaround to get a more affordable open-jaw ticket! Booking through Hahn Air seems to have been a good choice to save some money, even if it meant dealing with a few glitches like the seat selection issue and online check-in difficulties. It’s great that Drukair’s customer service was responsive, though a bit inconvenient that online check-in wasn’t an option. It’s good to know the flights were relatively empty, giving you the luxury of an entire row to yourself!
