"Lovely Staff, Frustrating System"
The Japanese staff working for this company are absolutely wonderful and very helpful. Unfortunately, the company’s systems let them down. It’s astonishing that in such a technologically advanced country, it can take over two hours to book a wheelchair seat due to inefficient company policies.
"Memorable JR Pass Experience"
The JR passes from the early years of the decade were fantastic. In particular, the Jūhachi Kippu made it easy for us to hop on and off trains while exploring cities like Kyoto, Nara, Kobe, Nagoya, and more.
"Dangerous Luggage Policy on Board"
Train staff need proper guidance on how to explain luggage booking when passengers purchase tickets—or at least allow paying extra for oversized items during the journey. We were embarrassed and frustrated when staff insisted on placing our very large and heavy suitcases in the overhead racks, where they didn’t fit properly. Lifting them caused back pain, and the risk of them falling and injuring someone was very real. Even on a mostly empty train, staff blindly followed the rules without considering safety. The policy is both dangerous and ridiculous.
"Confusing Pickup Options for Online Booking"
I wanted to buy an online ticket from Shinjuku to the airport, but the booking process was baffling. I had to select a pickup location, and the options made no sense: Shinjuku pickup is only available from 9:00 to 18:00, while Shibuya—farther away—is available from 6:00 to 22:00. Honestly, I was left speechless at such an illogical system.
