"Dirty and Unsafe First-Class Sleeper – Overpriced and Disappointing"
The first-class sleeper on this Egyptian train was dirty and poorly maintained: a glass door was hanging loose, lamps in the compartment didn’t work, and wires were exposed. The evening meal was very basic, and the train’s sudden jolts and stops made it feel unsafe, as if you needed a seatbelt like in Cairo traffic! After a long trip across North Africa, beginning in Algeria, this Luxor-to-Cairo ride, costing $90, was the first time I truly felt ripped off.
"VIP Trains Efficient but Need Better Cleaning"
Trains usually arrive on time, and VIP trains are my favorite because they only stop once. The service is generally good, but the cars need more cleaning. Inside the railway station, there are several good stores and restaurants like Arbiata, Abu Auf, Cottonil, Btech, and Vodafone. A customer service desk is also available for any assistance needed.
"First-Class VIP Seat Disappointing – Delays and Poor Service"
My experience on the Luxor-to-Alexandria train was very disappointing, even though I paid $70 for a first-class VIP seat. The railway system clearly needs an overhaul. We were delayed 1.5 hours due to another goods train derailing, with no food, water, or coffee offered while we waited hungry and exhausted in the early morning. Passengers should be prepared to pay extra for food and drinks. The food available on the train was decent but heavily overpriced.
"Service in Need of Organization"
The overall service clearly requires better organization. Improvements are needed to ensure smoother operations and a more reliable experience for passengers.
"Scam Alert – Money Withdrawn but No Ticket"
Disgusting service. Two years ago, I tried to buy a ticket via their official site. They withdrew money from my card but never issued the ticket due to a “system error.” I contacted their so-called support team repeatedly, and while they promised a refund, two years have passed with nothing. Real scammers. Avoid at all costs.
"A Must-Visit for History Enthusiasts"
A must-visit destination for anyone interested in history — rich, fascinating, and well worth the trip.
"Outrageously Overpriced and Filthy – Never Again"
How anyone can charge foreign tourists an outrageous fee for such a dirty, smelly, and disgusting train ride is beyond me. The ten-hour journey on the so-called Spanish Express Train from Cairo to Luxor turned into a nightmare. There was no food or drink provided, and basic facilities were barely usable. This state-run service seems designed to deter paying tourists from visiting Egypt. Absolutely unacceptable — never again!
