"Charming Place with Wonderful Staff"

This place is truly charming, with a beautiful garden that adds to its appeal. The rooms are basic but absolutely spotless, ensuring a comfortable stay. What really stands out is the staff — all of them are gracious, helpful, and genuinely focused on providing great service. Breakfast was a highlight, featuring fresh juice, eggs made to order, assorted breads with jams and butter, cereal, yogurt, and a wide variety of fresh fruits. A delightful start to the day!

"Flowers and welcoming"

This inn is very cute, colorful, and full of flowers, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. We were very well received, and the staff was attentive to our needs. The room was comfortable, although it felt a bit cold at times. Breakfast was good and satisfying. The only downside was the noise—you could hear everything happening outside, from cars passing by to people walking in the hallway. Despite this, it’s a lovely place with great service.

"Decent with old world charm"

We booked El Patio as we prefer charm over the blandness of big hotel chains, and it proved to be a safe and friendly base for our two nights in Lima. The hotel offers a glimpse of old-world Lima in a neighborhood otherwise filled with modern buildings. We loved the plant-filled patio and common areas. Breakfast was simple but satisfying, with fresh juice, fruit, and eggs, though the breakfast room did struggle a bit when large tour groups were present. Our room was spacious and remarkably quiet for central Miraflores, and it felt well-cleaned, though some areas could use a bit of maintenance—such as fixing a bathroom leak that left the floor wet. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the level of spoken English was very good. Overall, a charming choice if you’re looking for a break from large corporate hotels.

"A haven of peace in the city"

We stayed several nights a few weeks apart and really enjoyed this hotel. The layout around a quiet, beautifully decorated, and flower-filled patio creates a relaxing atmosphere. The team is warm and attentive, making us feel very welcome. Its location is ideal—close to the vibrant center of Miraflores and the Pacific coast. The rooms we stayed in were spacious with excellent bedding. The only downside (and the reason for 4 instead of 5 stars) is the breakfast, which is fine but not exceptional with a somewhat limited selection. Still, don’t let that deter you—this is a great choice for your stay!

"Basic needs met and friendly desk staff"

We arrived at 9pm and had to be up by 2:30am for our bus trip, so we didn’t spend much time at this hostal. The hotel arranged a taxi to pick us up from the airport, which was prompt and met us right as we got off the plane. The staff were friendly and helpful, arranging a taxi to the bus station and providing a small breakfast of toast before we left. English was spoken only a little, but we managed to communicate our needs. We were also able to leave our large luggage in their locked storage room overnight while we took a bus trip to Ica, which was complimentary and easy to retrieve upon return. Our room was adequate for $62 USD. The hostal is within walking distance of Larcomar Mall and Kennedy Park, both of which we managed to visit during our short stay. It’s also conveniently located next to a hair salon! There’s a secure entry door you must buzz to enter, and the entryway gardens are quite pretty. Overall, it met our basic needs for a quick overnight stay and luggage storage.

"Great place"

We really enjoyed our stay here. The property is clean and beautifully decorated with geraniums and ferns throughout, creating a lovely atmosphere. Breakfast included eggs, bread, jam, and fruit, and they even provided gluten-free bread for my friend, which was much appreciated. The staff were very helpful, spoke good English, and provided room service each day. The location is excellent for walking around Miraflores, making it very convenient. The only minor downside was loud parties nearby on some nights, but they quieted down after midnight. Overall, we had a great stay and would recommend this place!

"If not only for the Garden"

I have stayed here before, and while the location is certainly a plus—right in the center of Miraflores and within walking distance of many attractions—the property only meets the most basic needs. After our group left, a friend and I decided to move to a more comfortable place. The hostal feels cramped, worn out, and in need of some serious updates. While the abundance of plants adds charm, it also seems to mask amenities that require attention. That said, it does feel safe, thanks to the heavy gated door at the entrance. Overall, it’s functional for a short stay but could use significant improvements.

"Disappointing hostal in good location"

We booked El Patio based on a friend's recommendation and because we were only passing through Miraflores, arriving in the evening and leaving early the next morning. Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing from start to finish. The staff were unhelpful and unfriendly, showing little to no skill in guest relations. When we arrived, the receptionist simply stood by watching as we struggled to get our suitcases through the gate without offering any assistance. His attitude remained offhand during check-in and while showing us to Room 2, which was next to the dining room and not a room we would have chosen. Since our stay was brief, we decided not to object. He also took some pleasure in informing us that we would be leaving too early to have breakfast but did offer tea for the morning, which we accepted. However, the next morning, there was no tea. The man on the desk that morning was just as unfriendly and unhelpful. The room itself was very basic with minimal furnishings and a tiny shower room. The courtyard with its plants and climbers was pleasant and the central Miraflores location is a plus, but these are the only redeeming qualities. It was an inexpensive stay, but one we would not repeat.

"Lovely hotel, nice surprise!"

We arrived at this charming and unique place in the beautiful Miraflores neighborhood. Our only small disappointment was initially being assigned one of the few rooms facing the road ☹️. However, after asking, we were moved to a lovely room overlooking the patio 😊, which made a big difference. The breakfast was excellent—complete, varied, and delicious. The cook was efficient and particularly friendly. The hotel’s location also made it easy to access other neighborhoods, and the reception staff were always ready with great advice. A truly warm and pleasant start to our time in Lima, and certainly one of the prettiest hotels we stayed in during our trip!

"Comfortable and convenient"

We stayed here several times while transiting through Lima and found it to be a wonderful spot right in the middle of Miraflores. The staff were very helpful, assisting with taxis and providing useful information throughout our stays. The continental breakfast was a great way to start each day, and while the rooms are on the smaller side, they were comfortable enough for our needs. A reliable and convenient place to stay in Lima!

"Cute rooms and garden, but …"

This hostal is in a great location in Miraflores, very close to nearby attractions. The garden is beautiful, and the decor is quaint and tasteful, giving the property a lot of character. The front desk staff spoke good English and was both polite and welcoming. Unfortunately, after just one night, we woke up with multiple bites on our neck, arms, and legs, which we strongly believe were from bed bugs. They were certainly not mosquito bites. We stayed in room 11, and after seeing similar reports from other travelers on TripAdvisor, it seems this may be an ongoing issue. It’s a shame because the property has so much potential, but the presence of bed bugs is a major concern.

"A tarnished 2 star"

The good: The hotel has an excellent central and safe Miraflores location, just a 3-minute walk to Ave. Larco. Breakfast was decent and plentiful, though a bit repetitive, with rolls, fresh juice, and alternating days of fresh fruit or lunchmeat with cheese. The staff were very nice and welcoming. The bad: I checked in on September 6, 2016, after a long trip from the NE USA and was assigned Room 16, which was dark, dreary, cramped, and cold. The only outside light came from a row of windows at the top of the wall facing the stairway. The bathroom had mildew stains, and a large piece of wood was missing from the floor at its entrance. The worst part was the complete lack of hot water for the first two days. When I reported it, the desk staff seemed surprised and promised to check, but by the evening, there was still no hot water. A heated discussion followed when I was initially offered only a $10 USD reduction, which I found insulting. They eventually made a more appropriate adjustment since I was booked for five nights. This was my first visit to Peru, and although I was supposed to return to El Patio for the last four days of my trip, I decided not to and booked another hotel nearby. For reference, the wall-mounted TV in the room was a very small, outdated model (around 13”).
