"Beware the wine list!"
We’ve eaten here before and, once again, it did not disappoint. As someone who’s admittedly a bit fussy, I asked if my courgette starter could be slightly tweaked — the kitchen happily obliged, and the result was absolutely packed with flavor. The three-course menu offered fantastic value. From the cheese soufflé and almond soup to the sorbet and cheese, every dish was perfectly executed, with generous portions. Service was attentive, polite, and genuinely friendly. One important note for fellow diners: the wine list is excellent, but pricing is shown per glass and per carafe, not per bottle — something we didn’t realize at the time, as this is quite an unusual format and wasn’t clearly indicated. We thought we were getting a bargain bottle, only to discover otherwise when the bill came. To their credit, the manager handled the situation graciously and professionally. Despite that hiccup, we had a wonderful evening — and yes, we’ll definitely return.
"The worst and the best"
My wife and I booked a 4-person table at Elystan Street to dine with visiting friends. Having enjoyed a lovely experience at Kitchen W8 — run by the same owners — we had high hopes. Unfortunately, our evening turned out to be a mix of the exceptional and the disappointing. Some dishes truly lived up to the restaurant’s Michelin star, showcasing creativity and precision. However, others fell flat — most notably the cheese soufflé, which three of us ordered and found overwhelmingly salty, bordering on inedible. One of the starters had a similar issue. We raised our concerns with the staff, who were otherwise friendly and professional, but sadly, there was no meaningful response or gesture of goodwill offered. It’s a shame, as the restaurant is stylish, well located, and clearly capable of excellence. But inconsistencies like these — especially at this level — make it hard to recommend without reservation. As it stands, Elystan Street doesn’t quite live up to the promise of its Michelin star.
"Nice ambiance and service, food is good but not stellar"
The restaurant is nice and airy and staff are very welcoming ad professional. The wine list, although not cheap is quite reasonable for nice London restaurants, think 3x retail price. I had a very nice lunch and would recommend the set lunch as good food at a reasonable price but the cooking wasn't punchy enough for me to want to go back and have a "£125 tasting menu etc. So, if you want a smart but comfortable Chelsea reastaurant with lovely service it works well.
"Delicious food beautifully presented"
We really enjoyed our experience here. The contemporary decor was stylish yet welcoming, and the three-course lunch menu with wine pairing was a treat. Every dish was beautifully presented and tasted just as good as it looked. The sommelier was knowledgeable and her wine selections were thoughtful and well-matched to the food. However, one small issue did affect our overall experience. When a member of our group didn’t enjoy the dessert wine and politely asked if it could be changed, the sommelier seemed quite affronted. It made the moment awkward and detracted from an otherwise wonderful meal.
"Overpriced for the quality of food; service was fine"
The food was decent, but nothing particularly memorable. Some ingredients overpowered the dishes — for example, the delicate flavor of the langoustines was completely lost. The cocktail I tried was unbalanced and leaned too heavily on the alcohol, lacking finesse. The wine list was underwhelming, both in variety and quality, especially considering the steep prices. On a positive note, the service was attentive and professional throughout.
"Our Favorite Meal in London"
This was truly the highlight of our trip to London. Every dish was exquisitely prepared, and the wine list was well-curated, offering quality selections that complemented the meal beautifully. The service was friendly, professional, and genuinely warm throughout. The most memorable moment came when my companion ordered the gluten-free bread — it was so good we asked for the recipe. Not only did our waiter return with a copy signed by the chef, but the chef himself came out to greet us personally. That thoughtful gesture made the evening unforgettable. Highly recommend — a standout dining experience in every way.
