"Lax security with passports, disorganized breakfast, leaky toilet in room"

The rooms were a decent size, but ours had a strange smell due to a leaking toilet. The shower was inconsistent—sometimes hot after a long wait, sometimes cold, and occasionally fine. Location was okay, as Aguas Calientes is small and walkable. Breakfast was chaotic, with just one person working in the kitchen, leading to frequent shortages of juice, eggs, and bread. The biggest issue was security: the front desk took our passports at check-in and told us to collect them later. When I went to retrieve them, the lobby was unattended, the door propped open, and a stack of 10+ passports was left in plain view. Anyone could have walked in and taken them. Between the maintenance issues, disorganized breakfast, and major security lapse, I would not recommend this hotel.

"Stay in Machu Picchu"

The hotel was amazing—very hospitable staff who made sure our stay was comfortable. They offer breakfast on-site, along with heaters and fans in the rooms. Located right next to the river, the terrace offers breathtaking views. I would gladly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area.

"Work In Progress"

While the staff was very friendly and exceedingly accommodating, and the building is new, there were a few drawbacks. No hot water at 7 a.m. was a definite issue, and some finishes — like the guest room flooring — felt cheap. On the plus side, the in-room TVs were large and nice.

"Good location, not far from the train"

Nice location in a busy area. After taking the train from Machu Picchu, we walked a bit to reach the hotel. The staff were very nice, breakfast was okay, and the rooms were clean. There are a couple of laundry services nearby. It can be a little noisy at night, but that’s to be expected in the city.

"ENa option in Aguas Calientes"

This modern hotel offers large rooms and a spacious bathroom. The service is excellent, and the location on a pedestrian street is ideal, with plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. Breakfast is good, and the hotel is within walking distance of the bus stop to Machu Picchu.

"Modern hotel but the staff needs more training how to handle bookings, etc"

The hotel is modern, with comfortable beds and a nice bathroom. However, the reception staff could benefit from more training — particularly in handling reservations, assigning keys only to unoccupied rooms, and improving basic customer service skills.

"Good option"

Good option for staying in Águas Calientes. It’s located a little outside the main center, but within a short 5-minute walk you can reach the artisan market, train station, and restaurants. The hotel is nice, the staff is friendly, and the room is big, clean, and comfortable. Breakfast is okay, but could be improved.

"Very Modern Rooms"

This hotel is a bit of a walk from the train station but offers a nice mountain view. The Superior Double Room was spacious with a king-size bed, large TV, refrigerator, hairdryer, safe, and plenty of storage. The heated bathroom floors and large soaking tub were a pleasant surprise, making it easy to skip the public hot springs. The bed was super comfortable, and there was plenty of hot water. Breakfast, however, was fairly mediocre. Overall, a comfortable and well-equipped stay.

"Less than enthusiastic staff"

Customer service was disappointing. Staff seemed disinterested from the start—we were handed a key without any directions, only to find the room still being cleaned. After realizing their mistake, they gave us the correct room key. I had to ask multiple times for towels, but was ignored each time and ended up taking them from the housekeeping trolley myself. Overall, the lack of attention and care from the staff left a poor impression.

"This is THE ONE."

After a terrible experience at another nearby hotel, I was so relieved to find this place. Angelina was incredibly kind and helpful when I arrived stressed, tired, and carrying my exhausted child. She even offered to show me the room before I paid so I’d feel comfortable. The room was wonderful—large bed, much bigger than most in the area, clean, smelled fresh, and had reliable hot water. The location is convenient to the train station, with laundry next door and an elevator for easy access. Breakfast was excellent, with a large buffet and plenty of options—far better than my previous hotel. They also store luggage after checkout. Despite being nearly fully booked, Angelina remembered us each time we came and went, even offering an umbrella or raincoat on a rainy day. Compared to other nearby options, I’d choose this one every time.

"Attentive Staff – Went out their way"

Although this place is located on the outer edge of town, the excellent service more than made up for it. The staff went out of their way to accommodate anything I needed, and they will forever have a place in my heart. The rooms were clean and spacious, and the bathroom was okay. Breakfast could use more variety (it only had tea, fruits, and bread) — though it’s possible I just arrived late.

"Nice modern hotel"

I spent three nights here and found the hotel nice and quiet, though it’s a bit farther from the center—be ready for a lot of walking in Machu Picchu Pueblo. My 7th-floor room had a stunning mountain view, but another guest in our group on the 5th floor saw only nearby shacks. Breakfast was basic and often lukewarm, and the Wi-Fi was very spotty, especially on higher floors. Overall, peaceful but with some shortcomings in amenities.

Golden Sunrise Machupicchu

Clean, reliable hotel near the river and bus queue, with breakfast and solid guest ratings. Rates typically from USD 90–100.
