"Good place to stay and be close to the main streets. Attentive staff and nice size rooms."
Located on a quiet street yet very close to all the action, this hotel offers the perfect balance between convenience and tranquility. The entrance is impressive, and the interiors feel warm and cozy. The restaurant is spacious and serves a varied breakfast each morning—we stayed for four nights and never ran out of new options to try. They also offer a dedicated vegetarian menu with several freshly made stir-fry choices. The pool is narrow but great for doing laps or simply cooling off after a hot day. Our room was a good size with all the necessary amenities, and the balcony overlooking the pool was a lovely spot to relax. There were a few mosquitoes, but repellent took care of that easily. The outdoor lounge is another highlight, especially with their generous happy hours offering 2-for-1 drinks—a perfect place to unwind. The staff were very attentive, at times almost overly so, but overall service was very good. The only downside was the shower design. Each time we used it, the water flooded the area around the sink due to what seems like an issue with the floor slope. Aside from that, the hotel met our expectations and provided a comfortable stay.
"Hotel & guide Kim excellent"
The staff were very friendly and always ready to help, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere throughout our stay. Simneang was especially helpful and made everything smooth for us. We also had Kim as our guide, and he was wonderful—very patient, accommodating, and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend him as a guide.
"Amazing from start to finish"
We arrived in Siem Reap to find that our originally booked hotel was closed and abandoned, so we had to quickly find another place nearby. That’s when we discovered the Golden Temple Retreat. The staff welcomed us with open arms and warm smiles, immediately making us feel at ease. The hotel is absolutely stunning, and the attention to detail and care from the staff are truly exceptional. We stayed for four nights and loved every minute of our time here.
"Great Communication & a Very Pleasant Stay"
The staff were very helpful in arranging our transportation from Phnom Penh and booked an excellent driver to take us to Siem Reap. We were genuinely impressed by the hotel’s efficiency and communication before our arrival. However, after a 7-hour car journey, our check-in experience felt a bit overwhelming. We were greeted by a lady with a clipboard who was very focused on confirming our entire itinerary—breakfast orders for the temple tour, the dance dinner, and our cooking class. We didn’t even get a moment to sit down and enjoy the welcome drink and towel, which made for a less-than-ideal first impression. The room itself was nice, but the bathroom could use some maintenance, especially around the shower area, which felt damp and a bit slimy. Mr. Sok, the restaurant manager, was wonderful—very considerate, friendly, and attentive. Breakfast, on the other hand, could be quite chaotic. We often had to ask several times for coffee, juice, or cutlery, though the omelettes, fresh fruit, and other dishes were delicious. The tours arranged by the hotel were well organised and enjoyable. Overall, the stay was pleasant and relaxing after long days of sightseeing, but not quite as luxurious as we expected based on the glowing reviews. It did feel like the staff were under some pressure, possibly due to the many similar hotels in Siem Reap. Nonetheless, it was a nice stay and we appreciated the efforts of the team.
"Amazing place and amazing people"
Golden Temple Retreat in Siem Reap was an amazing place to stay. Everything was perfect from start to finish. The staff were some of the kindest and most helpful people I’ve ever encountered. Our room was beautiful, and the breakfast was truly outstanding. I’m already looking forward to visiting again and staying at the Golden Temple Retreat.
"Excellent but a little over attentive"
We really enjoyed our stay here, and while the facilities and amenities were excellent, we found the staff to be a little overly attentive for our personal preference. Although everyone was courteous and clearly well-intentioned, some team members were a bit too eager to engage at times when we were simply trying to enjoy the tranquility of the hotel. We understand it’s a delicate balance, but overall we felt the interaction could have been a little more measured. That said, we were still very pleased with our stay. It happened to fall just as COVID-19 concerns were beginning to peak in the region, so it was understandable that everyone was a little on edge. Despite that, we appreciated the comfort of the hotel and the efforts of the staff during a tense time.
"Wonderful place"
Amazing hotel and amazing people. The drinks were delicious, and the value for money is incredible! The location is also perfect—centrally situated and within easy walking distance to Pub Street and the night market. Highly recommended!
"Excellent small hotel with great staff"
Stayed here for a few days to visit Angkor Wat and was really impressed. It’s a small hotel, but the room was comfortable and the pool was a good size—though because of the layout, it doesn’t get much sun. The staff were brilliant and truly made the hotel stand out. Siem Reap itself was pleasant, with plenty of restaurants and tourist shops. Angkor Wat was absolutely worth the visit, especially if you book a tour with a guide who can show you the surrounding temples as well. We also did a boat trip, which was really interesting.
"Wonderfully Relaxing and Culturally Enriching Time at Golden Temple Retreat in Siem Reap Cambodia"
We stayed for 3 nights at the Golden Temple Retreat in Siem Reap, and it was an exceptional experience. Phikin, Hokly, and the entire team were incredibly friendly and attentive to all our needs. The hotel has a warm, inviting atmosphere surrounded by beautiful tropical greenery. Our room was luxurious, and the spa was honestly the best we’ve ever experienced. Everything is very reasonably priced, and U.S. dollars are widely accepted everywhere. If you're considering a visit, don’t let the border disputes with Thailand deter you—there is absolutely no sign of trouble here. You’ll love exploring the ancient temples and enjoying the lively energy of Pub Street. We’re so glad we decided to come.
"Great hotel in great location"
Spent four nights at this hotel during a return trip to Siem Reap and overall had a great stay. The rooms are immaculately clean, as are the hotel grounds and public areas. The pool stays shaded throughout the day, so it isn’t as warm as it could be—but this might actually be a welcome relief in the hotter months. The staff were very pleasant, and the reception team in particular truly stood out. Their English was excellent, and they were efficient, capable, and a real credit to the hotel. Breakfast did get a little repetitive after a few days, with limited variety, though the egg station chef did a wonderful job. The hotel’s location is ideal—an easy walk to the town center, with plenty of transportation options right outside. Airport pickup was smooth and hassle-free. Overall, I would definitely recommend this hotel.
