"Lovely setting and wonderful experience"

I had the pleasure of enjoying afternoon tea at Jardin d’Hiver on Friday, April 29, and it was a truly delightful experience. My waiter, Arnaud, was exceptionally friendly and kind—we even had fun practicing both French and English together. The food was beautifully presented and tasted just as wonderful, and the setting was serene, elegant, and relaxing. The only small downside was that after Arnaud left, no one came by to check on me or refill my water, which left me feeling a bit forgotten. Still, the overall experience was very positive, and I would gladly return to enjoy tea here again—perhaps next time with my daughter or a friend.

"Avoid room service !!!"

After a long day, I decided to enjoy a quiet evening in my room and ordered a croque monsieur from room service, expecting something on par with the excellent versions I’ve had throughout France. Instead, it turned out to be one of the worst I’ve ever had—barely any cheese or meat, no cheese melted on top, and fries that were stale and cold, a few steps below McDonald’s quality. Honestly, I’ve had far better room service at a Best Western in my hometown. For a storied hotel of this level, it was astonishingly disappointing—especially at €69. This experience alone knocked down what could have been an easy five-star stay.

"French luxury"

Our weekend stay was absolutely lavish—everything was perfect from start to finish! The quality of the room, the exceptional service, and the kindness of the staff made the experience unforgettable. The room itself was spacious and thoughtfully detailed with elegant touches that showed true attention to luxury. The pool, easily one of the most beautiful in Paris, was a highlight, and the restaurant was equally impressive—sumptuous in both atmosphere and cuisine. A truly five-star experience in every sense.

"I would gladly go back, but only as a tourist. Everything is there but nothing more"

The hotel is conveniently located near the city center and the train station, making it easy to get around. The room was small but air-conditioned, with a nice modern bathroom featuring a walk-in shower, though the shower cubicle itself was quite compact. Breakfast was simple and sweet, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. The only minor downside was the in-house pub—while affordable, some of the guests there took a bit of getting used to. Overall, a comfortable and practical stay for the price.

"Wow"

After enjoying a lovely Christmas tea here in December, we knew the Hotel de Crillon would be the perfect choice to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary—and it truly did not disappoint. From the stunning décor to the warm, ever-smiling staff, every detail reflected elegance and care. The vanilla bean millefeuille was the best we’ve ever had, and the thoughtful touches in our room, along with the personalized butler service, made us feel genuinely pampered. We especially appreciated the sweet anniversary wishes that continued throughout our stay. Thank you to the Crillon team for making our celebration so special and memorable.

"Good, Why Not Great?"

I recently spent four nights at the Hotel de Crillon in a Grand Premier Suite—the top room category before the named suites. While the suite was undeniably elegant, it was surprisingly small for its price range. During the same trip, I stayed at both the Plaza Athénée and The Ritz, and found that their accommodations were far more spacious and luxurious for a similar cost. What truly disappointed me, however, were the hotel’s petty practices and lack of genuine hospitality. For instance, guests must place a card on the bed to have the sheets changed—an odd reversal of the usual “eco-friendly” policy that feels more about cost-cutting than sustainability. At €3,600 per night, one shouldn’t have to remember such trivialities. Similarly, turndown service was inconsistent: the night staff would remove used towels but not replace them, apparently leaving that task for the day staff. On a brighter note, the in-house restaurant L’Ecrin was superb. Tucked away on the ground floor, it’s a true culinary gem, offering exceptional food even if its concept of building a menu around wine feels a bit contrived. The Crillon once held a special place in my heart—it was my late parents’ favorite hotel in Paris and mine as well in earlier years. Sadly, though Rosewood has invested heavily in its renovation, the soul of true hospitality seems to have faded. Regrettably, I won’t be returning.

"A palace to discover absolutely!"

I had the pleasure of discovering Paul Pairet’s Nonos, the Winter Garden, and the Ambassadors’ Bar, and the experience was truly exceptional. The atmosphere is both refined and welcoming, with a sumptuous, elegant setting that perfectly embodies the charm of a Parisian palace. Service was impeccable, with every detail carefully considered to create a seamless and enjoyable visit. Whether for an aperitif, a light snack, or an elegant dinner, this is a must-visit destination in Paris. Nonos offers a cozy yet sophisticated ambiance, while the Winter Garden enchants with its soft natural light and calming mood. It’s an ideal spot for any occasion—whether with friends, as a couple, or even for a business meeting. Highly recommended!

"Elegance from corner to corner"

We visited the hotel for lunch and were warmly greeted by the attentive bell attendants, who immediately took care of our luggage. One of them kindly escorted us to the beautiful terrace at the heart of the hotel, where the hostess guided us to our table. The service was truly first class, and dining in such a refined and serene atmosphere was an absolute treat. An unforgettable experience that perfectly blends elegance and hospitality.

"New life for the grand dame?"

I usually stay at the Plaza Athénée, but since my friends were also in Paris for Fashion Week and wanted to try this property, we decided to give it a go. This grand dame of Paris has indeed been meticulously restored to its former glory, and the décor throughout is elegant and refined. However, despite its beauty, there were several issues that affected my overall stay. The rooms, while tastefully designed, have their flaws. Rooms on the 6th floor have noticeably lower ceilings and slanted alcoves that make them feel cramped—something to keep in mind if you prefer spacious, airy accommodations. My room unfortunately had a sewage odor coming from the bathroom for the first two days, which required two calls to the front desk before being resolved. The bathroom sink water was only lukewarm, making shaving uncomfortable, and even after notifying staff three times, it was never fixed. The lighting system was also temperamental, taking a few seconds to turn on. Housekeeping was inconsistent—sometimes leaving used cups and plates behind or forgetting to replace bath amenities. Even the complimentary water bottles varied in size, and occasionally were missing altogether. Breakfast service was another disappointment: on my first morning, I waited ten minutes to be seated and had to flag down a waiter while others received prompt attention. This improved after I raised the issue. Perhaps the most surprising moment was being stopped by the doorman as I entered the hotel; he asked if he could “help me with something,” as though I didn’t belong there. A bit of retraining in hospitality and guest recognition would go a long way. A small touch that could also improve the arrival experience would be offering a glass of water at check-in—a simple but thoughtful gesture. On the positive side, the welcome staff, my butler, the restaurant hostess, and bar team were all exceptionally polite, professional, and pleasant to interact with. The staff uniforms, designed by Parisian designer Hugo Matin, add a refined and stylish flair to the hotel’s atmosphere. I also had the pleasure of touring the Marie Antoinette Room, which offers breathtaking views of Place de la Concorde—truly a highlight. And of course, the location is unbeatable, within minutes of Paris’s best shopping, dining, and cultural landmarks—especially convenient during Fashion Week. In summary, while the Hotel de Crillon remains a stunning property with an unmatched location and elegant ambiance, it still falls short in consistency and service compared to other top-tier Parisian hotels like the Plaza Athénée or The Ritz.

"Very good on 14 July"

We spent Bastille Day enjoying breakfast, cocktails, and dinner from the hotel’s terrace overlooking Place de la Concorde, and it was absolutely perfect. The view of the July 14 parade was incredible—beautifully organized and not overcrowded—allowing us to fully enjoy the moment. The food was varied, plentiful, and delicious, including breakfast, a light lunch, champagne, and coffee, all for €125. We were able to relax and stay for about four hours—something few restaurants would allow. A truly special experience and definitely something to do at least once in your life!
