"Hotel Eden"
We recently returned to the States and wanted to share our experience at Hotel Eden. It is a truly beautiful property, and we stayed in a well-appointed room on the fourth floor. While the welcome was warm, a few details stood out to me—particularly as someone who has spent many years in the hospitality industry. I booked through Amex and, prior to arrival, emailed the hotel requesting that the concierge curate a dinner list. I never received a response, and when I followed up in person, the concierge kindly promised to arrange a reservation for an authentic carbonara or cacio e pepe spot, but we never heard back and I ultimately made arrangements myself. Additionally, although my booking included Amex benefits, I was never clearly informed of the full list of amenities or the sizable credit available to us, which I only discovered by chance late in the evening before an early departure. Another small frustration was frequently having to open the hotel door myself despite two doormen being present and often distracted, and while I understand the option to remove it, the automatic service charge for staff gratuities felt a bit off-putting as I prefer tipping individuals directly. That said, the positives are significant: the location is flawless, the restaurant is stunning, the cocktail lounge is exceptional, and April at the front desk was an absolute standout—warm, enthusiastic, and genuinely kind, especially when congratulating me on my engagement. I would stay at Hotel Eden again, but at this price point, consistent communication and seamless service really need to match the beauty of the property.
"Beautiful 5 star Hotel"
Hotel Eden truly stands out for its exceptionally warm and professional staff, who go above and beyond to cater to every need and make guests feel completely at home in Roma. From the moment you arrive, the service is thoughtful, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The rooms are beautifully designed, offering comfort and elegance, while the restaurant delights with delicious cuisine served by friendly, charming staff who enhance the overall experience. This was my second stay at Hotel Eden, and it has firmly become my go-to hotel in Rome—one I will happily return to every time I visit the city.
"Nice but small"
The hotel itself is very nice, though the rooms are quite small. While the staff were helpful and welcoming, the location isn’t very convenient, as it requires a fair amount of walking to reach most attractions. Overall, it wasn’t a bad stay, but I would personally choose Hotel Hassler next time, as it offers a better location and rooms that are just as nice.
"Hotel Eden: an exceptional address in Rome"
Our stay at Hotel Eden was truly remarkable. Its central location makes exploring Rome effortless, with so many iconic sights within easy walking distance. The breakfast was delicious and beautifully presented, and the level of service throughout the hotel was outstanding. A special thank you to Francesco, who pampered us every morning and made breakfast an absolute pleasure. We highly recommend this hotel without hesitation—you can book with complete confidence!
"Very nice hotel, concierge could be better"
We stayed at Hotel Eden last spring and booked two rooms, both beautifully appointed with the highest-quality materials, though we did miss having a magnifying mirror in the bathroom. The location is as good as it gets, and the views are absolutely breathtaking—especially from the breakfast room and restaurant. Having stayed at the “old” Eden back when it was part of The Leading Hotels of the World, we couldn’t help but feel that, while the refurbishment under the Dorchester Collection has brought everything up to a very high modern standard, some of the former understated elegance and personal charm has been replaced by a more ostentatious, flashy style (the golden lobby ceiling felt a bit over the top for our taste). That said, the service remains outstanding. The front desk staff were exceptionally warm and welcoming, check-in was delightful, and breakfast on the top floor was a daily highlight—staff remembered our names and preferences, and even gave us a small tour of the renovated rooftop restaurant while pointing out visible landmarks. We also dined at La Terrazza dell’Eden, the hotel’s Michelin-starred restaurant, which, while very expensive, offered spectacular views, impeccable service, and a setting perfect for a special occasion. The only real disappointment was the concierge service: requests for Borghese Gallery tickets and advice on the Ara Pacis exhibition proved inaccurate or unhelpful, despite us being able to secure tickets ourselves online quite easily. On a positive note, the concierge did recommend an excellent local restaurant in a non-touristy neighborhood. Overall, Hotel Eden remains an outstanding property, elevated by its exceptional team—especially front-of-house and breakfast staff. While the new design feels a bit too “shiny” for our personal taste, the hotel is still undeniably world-class.
"Great Hotel, impeccable service, very cozy restaurant, super view"
I stayed for three nights and had a very pleasant experience. The bed was extremely comfortable, the environment was well maintained, and the restaurants were very good. Breakfast each morning was varied, high quality, and well prepared. A special mention goes to the room manager, who was very professional and welcoming, adding a personal touch to the stay.
"Strong on service and breakfast — weak on facilities and room design — keep looking in Rome"
I had been eagerly anticipating a stay at this property after previously enjoying the Hassler and hearing so much about its sister hotel, particularly following the much-publicized renovation. We stayed in two connecting Prestige rooms, which unfortunately had no view, and one was quite dark—though we were told that connecting rooms are limited here. While the bathrooms are undeniably beautiful and likely a highlight for many guests, the overall room design was a major disappointment. Over three nights, I never managed to properly figure out the telephone, TV controls, lighting system in either the bedroom or bathroom, or even basic functionality without frustration. The bedroom layout felt tight, with very little space around the beds, though thankfully the air conditioning was intuitive enough to operate. The gym was another letdown—extremely small and barely usable for more than one or two people—and while there is an alternative gym nearby, that’s not ideal, especially for late-night use. The spa hours (closing at 8 pm and opening at 9 am) were also restrictive, making independent sauna use impractical. Breakfast upstairs was a highlight, with an excellent buffet featuring high-quality items like fresh mangoes and sweets—my wife even brought home a few recipes. Dinner at the upstairs brasserie, however, was noisy with a techno DJ, overpriced, and merely average in terms of food quality, which didn’t justify the cost. We also heard from other guests that the gourmet restaurant experience was disappointing, with food arriving cold. Service overall was good—phones were answered promptly and pre-arrival concierge support was efficient, arranging a gelato-making class, a private Colosseum and Forum tour, and restaurant reservations. That said, we were disappointed by the lack of helpful shopping advice for children’s clothing, something we felt the concierge should have been well-equipped to assist with. The location posed another challenge: being on a one-way street meant taxis had to be ordered in advance, often resulting in delays and inconvenient loops to reach the hotel. While this is clearly a prestigious hotel attracting an elite clientele, the experience fell short for me. In a five-star property, I value intuitive room design, strong on-site facilities, and ease of access—and this hotel missed the mark on all three. I’m still searching for a Rome hotel that truly gets everything right, and if the Four Seasons ever opens here, I’ll be first in line.
"Fantastic hotel near Borghese Gardens"
My wife and I stayed at Hotel Eden in Rome for the second time and enjoyed three truly wonderful nights. It is an outstanding hotel with an exceptionally professional and attentive staff. Breakfast was phenomenal, served on the 6th floor with beautiful views over Rome’s gardens, and made even more special thanks to our gracious and professional server, Francesco, who brightened every morning. The spa massages were excellent—special compliments to Genesis and Tatiana for their skill and care. Concierge Louise provided fantastic recommendations that enhanced our stay, and dining with friends at La Terrazza was simply sublime—without question one of the best meals of my life. We truly appreciate the excellence and consistency of this remarkable hotel and look forward to returning again.
"Luxury design over function."
Following its extensive renovation, the hotel has reopened with a sense of quiet, understated luxury that is immediately apparent—even if the rooms themselves are on the smaller side. Service is consistently good, and a special mention must go to Francesco in the restaurant, who truly elevates the breakfast experience with flawless attention to detail. That said, my main frustration lies with the guest room bathroom design, where aesthetics clearly took precedence over functionality. Bathroom sizes vary widely; for example, one of the smallest rooms I saw (Room 118) featured an enormous bathroom with a claw-foot tub and a large walk-in shower, while the bedroom itself was barely larger than the double bed. My own bathroom was on the smaller end, yet it shared the same deep sinks and dramatic lighting scheme found throughout the hotel. While visually striking, this setup is impractical—particularly for applying makeup or shaving—and for shorter guests, even reaching the taps can be a challenge. It genuinely feels as though usability wasn’t properly tested before installation, and the lack of additional mirrors in the room only adds to the inconvenience. The shower-over-bathtub design was another concern: getting out of the tub was awkward and potentially dangerous due to the slippery surface and deep step down. Although there is a grab rail, it’s positioned uncomfortably close to a heated towel rail, making it easy to knock your knuckles. Guests with any mobility limitations would likely struggle. On a more positive note, the location is excellent and the views from the upper floors are beautiful, though rooms above the main entrance on the second and third floors have partially obstructed views due to the street-side trees.
"I WILL NEVER FORGET HOTEL EDEN"
just like Boston at the Cheers Bar, everyone knows your name and face..they don’t forget to hold the door or open it…Every day or night is Buongiorno, Buona Serra. We ended paying more for a suite than regular room which was a little too small but if you’re going to spend the money to come to Rome…DO IT UP RIGHT..even the smaller room was immaculate…You have a tablet to schedule your daily cleaning, daily turndown service and anything else you may need..Need a coffee? you’ll have it in your hands before your words come out! My favorite is the all time FRANCESCO who works the morning breakfast in Il Giardino.. He will great you with a smile, make you pancakes even though there is a buffet, he would get you anything your heart desires but here is the best part…HE does it all with a sincere smile and makes you feel like you just want to give him a big hug. There is NO ONE who made my morning and to start my day so special as Francesco !!! Every doorman polite, accurate and on point for information…I will miss you Hotel Eden but I will be telling everyone I know there is NO OTHER PLACE TO STAY in ROME but Hotel Eden
