"A unique and highly recommended experience"
This hotel truly stands out, offering a genuine and unique experience. The service from check-in to check-out is remarkable, especially in the Veranda Restaurant and Buenos Días Cafeteria. The property even features a movie theater, adding to its charm. A fully recommended stay for anyone seeking a hotel that feels like a living museum.
"I’ll repeat."
Staying at this hotel feels like stepping into another time—it has a true museum-like charm. The breakfast is good, the service attentive, and the outbuildings are well maintained, showing respect for the property. The rooms are somewhat small, and the bathrooms are narrow. When showering, water often spilled outside the tray because the curtain didn’t fully cover it. Despite this minor inconvenience, I had a very good stay during my six nights at the hotel.
"Gorgeous lobby, but old and neglected rooms"
The hotel has certainly had a great past, and the beautiful lobby bears witness to this. Unfortunately, those years have obviously passed. The room we stayed in was acceptable but nothing more. The bathroom in particular would need a renovation. The feeling is that of a hotel with a great history and great potential, but which for years has been a bit neglected. I recommend to those passing him nearby to visit the lobby, which is also free museum, but unfortunately I would not recommend the accommodation here.
"Historic and beautiful hotel that does not take care of its employees for the benefit of customers"
Over the years, I’ve stayed a few nights at this historic hotel whenever I return to Mexico, and it’s been fascinating to see the changes. The hall, bar, dining room, and lounges are beautiful, with decorations that feel like a museum. The breakfasts, lunches, and dinners are well-prepared and reasonably priced. However, the rooms are very old and have not been renovated, and the staff I’ve known over the years—professional and friendly—have gradually left. When asking about them, it’s clear that remaining staff are hesitant to comment, which suggests issues with management and human resources. Many guests, myself included, return not just for the hotel itself but for the treatment received from staff, and this is being affected. On my last visit, the hotel felt overpriced compared to similar properties in the area and was noticeably empty. If this trend continues, it may be difficult to continue returning after 30 years of visits, despite the hotel’s historic charm.
"IF YOU WANT TO FEEL IGNORED – STAY HERE"
I would rate my stay at Hotel Geneve a 2.5 out of 5. I stayed from December 16–23, 2025, and felt compelled to write a review due to multiple service issues. Housekeeping consistently did not service our room until after 3:00 PM, and we ran out of basic supplies like toilet paper, which had to be requested twice in one hour. The most concerning incident occurred on December 21. My husband became ill while dining off-site, and I requested two sets of utensils from the front desk so we could eat in our room. Despite explaining the situation clearly in English, our request was repeatedly redirected in Spanish, discussed among staff, and treated as an exception rather than a simple accommodation. This process took over 45 minutes, leaving my husband alone while feeling unwell. Although apologies and alternative dining offers were made later, the lack of timely response, attentiveness, and practical problem-solving was disappointing—especially given the hotel’s premium rates and reputation. Attempts to contact the hotel and parent company went unanswered. In short, do not stay at Hotel Geneve if you want to feel valued as a guest. The staff’s poor communication and lack of sensitivity made us feel ignored and overlooked.
"good and noisy"
The room was clean, but it wasn't cleaned on the second night. The hotel looks luxurious, but the rooms are just clean and not as impressive and artistic as the lobby. The breakfast seems plentiful, but the ingredients are of low quality. Disliked · The noise from the street. The incompetence of the staff because I had to tell them and call them to remind them to give us free water, which should have been placed in the room if it had been cleaned.
"DIRTY SHEETS/TOWELS"
Our stay was disappointing due to several issues. The first room faced smokers, and despite complaining twice, music from nearby continued blasting until 4 a.m. on Saturday. The sheets on the first bed had black makeup stains, and even after switching rooms, the new bed’s sheets also had makeup marks. Towels had lipstick stains, and the shower curtain smelled like wet dog. When we reported the issues to the front desk, the curtain was not replaced. We requested to speak with the manager, but were told he wouldn’t be available until later, and that the front desk could not assist once payment had been processed at check-in. Overall, the experience was frustrating and fell far below expectations.
"it is a historic hotel"
This is a truly historic hotel, full of charm for those who appreciate unique, character-filled properties. Beautiful corners, winding corridors, and interesting displays make exploring the hotel a delight. Breakfast is nice and enjoyable. A small tip: parakeet feathers can fall from their cage, so be prepared if you’re sitting nearby! If you prefer standardized U.S. chain hotels, this may not be the right choice—but for anyone who loves historic charm, it’s a wonderful experience.
