"We started well but ended badly"

Our stay started well but ended badly. Breakfast was non-existent and not described during booking. Housekeeping was disappointing—our sheets were stained, and even after pointing it out, they could not be replaced until dinner time. Parking is not available on-site; the only option is paid parking at Piazza Cavour for €30 per day. Overall, we started well but the experience ended poorly.

"Ok for a night. Nothing special"

Stayed here for a night with a friend. It took a while to find, but the location is good. We were given a basic room across the road—the bed was comfy and the shower had hot water, but the room was cold. There was no heating, and the aircon couldn’t be used for heat as the dial was missing. Considering the low price, it’s understandable, but I wouldn’t stay here again.

"So So So So"

Good morning. Be careful when booking here, as you could end up in a room far from reception, which was our experience and quite uncomfortable, since the hotel is spread out. Breakfast is minimal—a very small buffet that could be improved. The bed mattress is very hard, and the room is a bit dated. On the positive side, the location is very strategic. For parking, you need to use the nearby Cavour parking lot.

"Not great"

This hotel could be even nicer if: the bathroom were renovated, the early 20th-century furniture style was maintained and enhanced (sanded and waxed, as some rooms are quite interesting), a desk and chair were added to the rooms, and breakfast was provided. Otherwise, the staff is charming, the bed is comfortable, and the location is excellent.

"Measure yourself before entering the shower"

If you’re above size 46, forget about using the shower—it’s a small corner unit and you simply can’t fit. Hotel staff are indifferent and dismissive, claiming “they’re all the same,” which is not true. Also, be cautious with the electrical plugs—they can overheat unexpectedly.

"Great location"

After reading other reviews, I did not have high expectations. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by a very friendly and helpful lady at reception. The rooms are dated but clean. The location is excellent, and the shuttle bus to and from the airport costs only €8 each. We didn’t need to use public transport during the weekend, as everything was within walking distance. For value for money, I would recommend this hotel if you’re looking for a well-located option and don’t mind the absence of an on-site bar or restaurant. I would return.

"No more than one night"

Old rooms, old and worn masonry. Very thin doors so the slightest noise in the corridor or on the street stands out immediately. Good location, super nice and helpful staff. Quality price for one night still good (spent 50 euros in Rome, not bad)

"Excellent short stay"

As the title suggests, I had an excellent short stay at this hotel during my time in Rome. The hotel is in a strategic location, in a multi-storey building behind the Cassation and just a 5-minute walk from Castel Sant'Angelo. The reception staff were friendly and professional. My single room was quiet, not large but well-organized, with four power sockets and a comfortable bed. The only downside was the cleanliness in the common areas—there was some dust in the corners of the lift—and in the bathroom, which also had some dust in the corners. Given the location, the prices are very reasonable.

"Terrible and poor hygiene"

The only positive aspect of this hotel is the kindness and helpfulness of the staff; unfortunately, everything else is deeply disappointing. The rooms lacked working heating, blowing only cold air all night, leaving us uncomfortably cold. Dust on the bedside lamp was so thick it was alarming, especially as I am allergic. Mold on the walls is unacceptable for a property at this price point, and to turn on the entrance light, one must touch the walls. Many switch plates are missing, some electrical sockets do not work, and noise from neighboring rooms and outside is clearly audible as if the windows offered no insulation. The bathroom is extremely small, the beds are uncomfortable, and sheets were broken. The dust accumulation on the bedside lampshade is so severe it feels like hardened rubber. This goes far beyond poor hygiene—it is a situation that should not be tolerated and could even warrant reporting to health authorities. While the hotel has done well in hiring young and trained staff, the overall condition of the property is shameful. The photos speak for themselves.

"Excellent location, property in need of renovation"

The hotel is located across the Tiber in a quiet area, yet very close to both the Vatican (St. Peter’s Square is about a 15-minute walk) and Piazza Navona (less than 10 minutes). The staff are very courteous and helpful. The property, however, is dated. Our triple room was cramped, with small spaces, a dangerous step to enter the bathroom, walls in need of repainting, and some power outlets not functioning properly. Breakfast is not included, though a small buffet is offered. There are some good restaurants and bars nearby, but overall the price is high compared to the quality of the accommodation.

Hotel Sant’Angelo

Comfortable and budget-friendly stay in the Vaticano Prati district, close to public transport and Vatican attractions. A solid choice for value travelers.
