"Awesome"

A very nice hotel, conveniently located close to everything in Rome. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and the lady in the breakfast room was especially kind. They helped arrange our Roman tour, and everything went perfectly. We will definitely be back to this hotel!

"Compact and Clean"

This year’s trip to Rome was part of a package deal, marking our first experience with the city’s hotels. Budget was the priority, and I chose this hotel mainly for its location—and I was very happy with it. The room was small, with only one end table by the bed and the other side against the wall, but it was scrupulously clean, which is a major plus. The water pressure in the shower could use some adjustment, but it was inconvenient rather than unbearable. Despite being just around the corner from Via Nazionale and a 10-minute walk from the Central Bus Station, the hotel was quiet. Convenience is truly Virgilio’s strong suit. The concierges were helpful, if not overly enthusiastic, but for a four-night stay in Rome, I’ll take a clean and safe room over minor luxuries or extra space any day.

"We will definitely stay here again!"

All the staff were very friendly and helpful! The rooms were excellent, and breakfast was very nice. The location is great, making it easy to explore Rome. What truly stood out was their incredible service: I accidentally left our passports in the room and didn’t realize it until I got to the airport. The hotel promptly sent someone to deliver them to me. There was a small fee, but it was completely worth it. I’m extremely grateful for their help and dedication.

"Ok to visit the city"

The hotel is located near the Ministry of Interior in a quiet and seemingly safe area. It’s convenient enough for sightseeing around the city. The rooms are large and simple, with a bathroom that is adequate in size, and the linens are of reasonable quality. Breakfast is served in the basement and offers a limited selection of products, but overall, the stay is satisfactory for a practical visit.

"Great place for this city break"

The hotel is perfectly located, within walking distance of Rome’s fabulous attractions and restaurants, or just a short Uber or bus ride to Vatican City. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was spotless, the air conditioning worked perfectly, and the beds were incredibly comfortable. I would definitely stay here again.

"Average, could do better"

Everything about this hotel felt fairly average. We stayed in two rooms on the third floor. The staff were polite at times but often seemed bored and uninterested in guests. On the positive side, the location is good, the rooms were clean, the beds comfortable, there was daily maid service, and the rooms were quiet if the double-glazed windows were closed. Breakfast was just okay, with a limited selection, only one coffee machine (leading to queues), and items running out regularly. However, there were several issues: the bathrooms were tiny, with doors that couldn’t fully open; the hairdryer was mounted on the wall, making it nearly impossible to use in a steamy bathroom; the curtains in both rooms didn’t close (though there were shutters outside); the bedding consisted of a duvet between two sheets that tended to slide off; and the air conditioning was very weak. Overall, despite some positives, I would not stay here again.

"Central location, great staff"

As a family of four, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Virgilio. We booked one of the family apartments next door to the main hotel. While it was a bit unusual not being directly attached to the hotel, the apartment offered plenty of space for two adults and two teens. Despite being separate, we still had access to regular hotel services, and the room was clean and well-appointed. The location was ideal for exploring Rome, with main attractions within walking distance and plenty of nice restaurants nearby. While it’s certainly not a five-star hotel, the friendly staff and excellent location make it a worthwhile choice for families.

"Location and little else"

The hotel has a very good central location, but that’s about the only standout feature. The place is clean and serviceable, comparable to a budget chain like Days Inn, but it’s not memorable in any way. I only stayed here because the elevator was broken at my original choice. Would I return? Probably not. If you’ve already booked, there’s no need to panic, but don’t expect anything special.

"Great room, okay breakfast"

I would definitely stay here again and recommend it. Our room (#22) was very clean, spacious, quiet (overlooking the courtyard), and cool thanks to great air conditioning, with a very comfortable bed. The only downside was that you could hear everything from the hallway, though we were lucky to have respectful neighbors. The front desk was helpful, allowing us to check in a little early. Breakfast was basic continental but okay, with decent coffee from the machine and plenty of seating. Additionally, there’s a good salad bar restaurant, Sano Lab, nearby if you want a lighter meal.

"A tiny little problem!"

Our room was adequate for the two of us, though a bit small—sometimes we had to squeeze between the beds to get by. Both the room and bathroom were clean, but over our three-night stay, we noticed a persistent problem with tiny spider mites, which we had to deal with on the white tabletop. They were very small, about the size of a grain of pepper, but quite fast. We informed the front desk, but the issue continued. Fortunately, they weren’t in the beds. Since we probably won’t return to Italy, it wasn’t a dealbreaker for us, but it was a noticeable inconvenience.

Hotel Virgilio

A charming 3-star family-run hotel on a quiet street near Via Nazionale, offering renovated rooms, Roman hospitality, and proximity to major sites like the Colosseum and Trevi Fountain.
