"Wonderful Experience"

I’m often a bit hesitant about dining at highly rated restaurants, as the higher the expectations, the greater the risk of disappointment (looking at you, Per Se). But Le Bernardin absolutely delivered. The restaurant itself is elegant without being over the top, with a lively atmosphere that feels welcoming rather than stuffy. Service is formal, as you’d expect, but never cold. We went all in with the tasting menu and wine pairing, and it was nothing short of fabulous. While I love seafood, I wondered if I might tire of it after several courses — but I never did. Each dish was light in texture, subtle in flavor, and perfectly balanced. The wine pairings were just as impressive; even my husband, who usually avoids white wines, was amazed at how beautifully each pairing complemented the food. All in all, it was a truly wonderful experience that more than lived up to its reputation.

"Go For The Experience, Not The Food"

You don’t need a Michelin-starred restaurant to find great food, but if you choose to indulge, it makes sense to pick one of the very best — and in New York City, Le Bernardin is at the top of that list. Having often seen the chef-owner on television and heard glowing praise from other chefs, I decided this would be our once-in-a-lifetime indulgence. While I wouldn’t call it the single best meal we’ve ever had, the experience was truly fabulous and worth every penny. The food overall was excellent, and the attention to detail from the staff was nothing short of superb. Though our head waiter initially seemed surprised when I asked to see the dinner menu (since we were seated in the lounge rather than the main dining room), he soon ensured that our evening was smooth and enjoyable. We opted for the $150 per person chef’s menu, which featured a wide variety of mostly fish and seafood with some meat options. Some dishes pushed us outside our comfort zone, and we were glad we tried them. My only real disappointment was the black bass — served under the “partially cooked” category, it lacked the crispy skin I was hoping for, tasted overly fishy, and even had a couple of small bones. Not what I’d expect at this level. However, the broth and garnishes accompanying it were absolutely delicious. Service was impeccable: water glasses never stayed empty, napkins were refolded the moment you stepped away, the bread tray was brought around often, and every question was answered with patience. What started off with a stiff head waiter turned into a warm and attentive service experience that made us feel like royalty. In the end, dining at Le Bernardin was less about a single perfect dish and more about the entire experience. The flawless service, refined setting, and indulgent menu made it a night we’ll always remember with fondness.

"Delectable Edibles from the Sea."

Located near Times Square in the Equitable Building, the legendary Le Bernardin remains one of the most celebrated restaurants I’ve ever had the pleasure of visiting. With a menu that highlights refined French seafood infused with subtle Asian influences, the experience is nothing short of luxurious. The menu is structured into three categories: “Almost Raw/Barely Touched” and “Lightly Cooked.” Under the first, I sampled the caviar and sea-urchin oyster medley, while dishes like crab cakes and poached lobster appear in the second. The final section offers perfectly prepared entrées such as black bass and red snapper. I ultimately chose the Dover Sole, which was simply outstanding, and ended my meal with the Pistachio Praline & Grand Marnier dessert — the perfect finish. While the décor is sleek and modern, it is the food and impeccable service that truly shine here. Le Bernardin stands as a temple of seafood dining and delivers one of the finest culinary experiences in New York City.

"Don’t waste your money!"

Quite a bizarre experience at Le Bernardin, and we had been really looking forward to the evening. The dining room itself was underwhelming—large, impersonal, and more like a banquet hall than an intimate, exclusive restaurant. We had the full tasting menu with wine pairing. The bread was a major disappointment; the so-called baguettes tasted like frozen supermarket rolls—an insult even to Lidl. Most of the dishes (excluding the mains of Fluke and Halibut) were excellent, close to 10/10. Unfortunately, the two main courses were a complete failure and brought the whole experience down. What shocked us most, however, was the service. While efficient and well-orchestrated, it felt rushed, robotic, and cold, with no warmth, personality, or engagement. We were served 8–10 courses and finished in under two hours—it felt transactional rather than special. For $1,200, this was profoundly disappointing. There are countless restaurants that deliver superior food and genuinely thoughtful service at a fraction of the cost. I honestly cannot understand how this restaurant maintains 3 Michelin stars. We would never return.”

"Amazing experience"

I went out with a friend while visiting New York City and absolutely loved everything about this restaurant. The food was outstanding, the atmosphere was welcoming, and the entire experience was memorable from start to finish. A truly great spot that I would happily return to!

"Awesome Experience"

We celebrated a friend’s birthday with a group of 12, and the experience was truly exceptional. The tasting menu was a culinary delight, with every dish surpassing expectations. The service was outstanding – the staff was attentive, professional, and thoughtful, from prompt drink refills to detailed explanations of each dish, and even personalized touches like refolding napkins. The combination of exquisite food and impeccable service made for an unforgettable fine dining experience.

"Ok, just ok"

We were meeting family from around the world and wanted a special restaurant—but this one didn’t quite meet the brief. Having dined at many exceptional restaurants globally, it’s hard to understand how this one has three Michelin stars. Everything felt lackluster: the service involved staff reaching over guests to serve, the food had no standout courses, and the ambiance was basically a large, noisy dining hall. For high-end restaurants, the question is whether the experience leaves you thinking “that was amazing.” Unfortunately, this one did not.

"Very good but definitely not worth the hype or price"

Perhaps I’ve simply moved away from fine dining and now appreciate simpler, well-made meals, but I honestly didn’t feel the restaurant lived up to the hype or its 3-star rating. A few dishes, like the lobster pasta, were extraordinary, yet not “out of this world” or worth the steep price. I’m glad I went and don’t regret the visit, but knowing what it would be like, I probably wouldn’t have chosen to go in the first place.

"Maybe the very best restaurant in NYC"

The food and service at Le Bernardin are truly exceptional. Every morsel is perfectly prepared, and the knowledgeable, professional staff make the experience seamless. This may very well be my favorite restaurant in New York.

"Good, not stellar"

Service was excellent—attentive, knowledgeable, and personable. Chibo and Frida, particularly Frida the sommelier, were superb and very helpful throughout the meal. The food, however, was inconsistent. The amuse-bouche bisque was divine, and the lentil salad with smoked Tasmanian trout was very good and intriguing. The yellow flapjack dish, on the other hand, was disappointing. The fish was slightly overcooked at the edges, and while the accompanying sauce sounded interesting and tasted good, it overpowered the fish. Dessert, a chocolate Peruvian creation, was divine. It’s hard to give a Michelin 3-star restaurant anything less than stellar, yet it’s equally hard to justify the price for a meal that was uneven in quality.

"Definitely one of the best restaurants in NYC"

Celebrated a birthday lunch with my daughter and enjoyed the chef’s tasting menu. The portions left us a bit too full, but each dish was exquisitely presented and as delicious as always. We paired the meal with a lovely bottle of Chablis. Service was immaculate. Next time, I definitely want to try their vegetarian tasting menu.

"Fine, but…"

One thing is clear: I’m not convinced this restaurant would earn three stars in France. That said, the food was still very enjoyable. The dishes shared some similarities in preparation and broth, but the shrimp bouillabaisse stood out as extraordinary. Desserts were also very good. Service was attentive, though a bit formal, and the décor was sumptuous, creating a refined atmosphere.

"Outstanding Dining Experience in NYC"

From the moment we were greeted to the moment we left, every aspect of our visit was a treat. We opted for the tasting menu with wine pairing, which I highly recommend. It’s easy to see why this restaurant holds its 3 Michelin star distinction. The chef is outstanding, and the staff are impeccably trained, executing every detail to perfection. This has become our new family tradition.

"Good but nowhere near epic"

Many hail this as one of the best seafood restaurants in the country, boasting 3 Michelin stars and a spot on the World’s 50 Best Restaurants. I visited for lunch, which was $130 for three courses—so I was expecting truly spectacular food. The shrimp appetizer and dessert were the highlights of the meal, but my sea bass entrée was surprisingly flavorless and left much to be desired. Service was impeccable; the staff even stored my luggage before my flight and provided some complimentary items in honor of my birthday, which was a nice touch.

"Amazing food cooked to perfection"

Every dish we tried was crafted to perfection with the finest ingredients. The flavors were absolutely incredible—each bite blew us away. The staff was attentive, friendly, and added so much warmth to our experience. Truly an amazing time from start to finish!
