"Treat Yourself to a Special Dining Experience"
This is a restaurant that truly feels like a special occasion spot—but honestly, you don’t need a reason to indulge! The food is excellent, the design and layout are stunning, and the general ambience is very enjoyable. I would have given 5 stars if not for a couple of issues. The morning glory was tough, stringy, and undercooked, with very little leaf—definitely not up to the standard of competitors like Sokkhak River Restaurant. The temperature in the dining area was also uncomfortably warm until large fans were turned on upon request; proper air conditioning would improve the experience. The restaurant felt a bit quiet, with only two other couples dining while we were there, which slightly affected the atmosphere. Overall, though, it’s a highly recommended spot to treat yourself without needing a special occasion.
"Disappointing Experience Despite the Hype"
I really don’t understand the hype around this restaurant. The food was bland, overpriced, and lacked quality. On top of that, the service was one of the worst I’ve encountered in Siem Reap. Overall, a very disappointing experience that I wouldn’t recommend.
"Delicious Cambodian Cuisine Worth Every Penny"
The food here is outstanding, showcasing authentic Cambodian flavors with generous portions and unlimited rice. The set menus are well-curated and satisfying. While slightly pricier than other local options, the quality and overall dining experience make it worth every penny. The convenient location near my hostel was an added bonus!
"Malis Restaurant Promising Concept, Yet Falling Short"
Malis Restaurant in downtown Siem Reap positions itself as a mid-to-upper range dining option, which is understandable given its ambiance and location. However, the overall experience didn’t fully live up to expectations. The dining environment, while stylish, felt uncomfortably warm—something that noticeably affected the enjoyment, especially in Siem Reap’s climate. Service, although polite, lacked the attentive touches expected at this price point; simple gestures like proactively refilling water were missing, leaving the hospitality feeling somewhat basic. As for the food, I tried the recommended scallops and Amok Fish. While the presentation was adequate, the flavors were surprisingly mediocre given the cost. The dishes didn’t quite justify the price, leaving a sense that the culinary execution needs refinement to match the restaurant’s perceived standard. Overall, Malis shows promise and offers a concept that could be excellent with minor improvements, particularly in service attentiveness, temperature comfort, and flavor execution. As it stands, it feels slightly mismatched with its pricing and expectations for a high-end dining experience.
"Memorable Dining with Exceptional Cambodian Flavors"
We had a wonderful dinner at this restaurant, made even more special by our attentive server who thoughtfully advised us on portion sizes—family-style dishes meant we initially over-ordered, and his guidance was spot on. The food was exceptional: the fish amok was the best I’ve ever had, the beef dishes were flavorful, and the seafood fried rice was delicious. The cocktails were creative and refreshing, with a gin and celery juice combination standing out. To top it off, the restaurant kindly provided a dessert platter for my friend’s birthday, adding a personal and thoughtful touch. Between the attentive service, outstanding cuisine, and memorable gestures, this dining experience was truly unforgettable.
"Elegant Dining with Outstanding Soups- A Must-Visit"
We arrived at 11:30 a.m. and were the only table initially, though by noon the place filled up. Chinese pop songs played in the background—though not the Hong Kong style I prefer, it added a lively, casual vibe. The high ceilings and intricate, symmetrical lattice woodwork give the space an elegant and sophisticated atmosphere. Service was excellent, attentive without being intrusive. The highlight was definitely the clay pot soups, especially the tofu and bamboo soup—light, flavorful, and simply the best I’ve had on this tour so far. We later visited their Phnom Penh branch, but I much preferred this location for both ambiance and food quality. Highly recommend for a refined and satisfying lunch experience.
"Exceptional Dining Experience at Mali’s"
I’ve visited Mali’s several times during my trip, and it never disappoints. The restaurant offers an upscale, elegant space by the river, making it convenient to access while enjoying a refined atmosphere. The food is outstanding. The Kulen Pig is perfectly crispy on the outside and tender and juicy inside, while the Samlor Korko Pork bursts with rich, authentic flavors. Every dish is thoughtfully prepared and executed with care. Service is impeccable throughout—attentive, professional, and welcoming. Mali’s comes highly recommended for anyone seeking top-notch Cambodian cuisine in a beautiful riverside setting.
"Good Food, But Room for Improvement"
This is a nice place with tasty food and a pleasant atmosphere. However, the service could use some improvement, as the staff struggled with basic English communication. Drinks presentation, such as whiskey served with crushed ice, could also be more appealing. Overall, enjoyable but with definite areas that could be enhanced.
