"Tasty Dishes with a Modern Twist, but Room for Improvement"
he food was good, though not the most authentic, and some dishes felt a bit too bougie—like the chili crab meat pie tee. I really enjoyed the Kerabu; it was very refreshing. The pomelo salad on the skate was also a standout. The otak otak prawn toast was okay but could have had more spice. The bah kut teh was pretty good overall. Prices felt a bit high considering the neighborhood, and the ambiance could use some upgrading as it seems to be aiming for a trendier vibe.
"Overhyped and Underwhelming — A Mixed Experience at Mambow"
When a restaurant has this much hype, it’s always a challenge to match expectations—and unfortunately, Mambow didn’t quite deliver for me. Right from the start, being told we needed to vacate the table by a certain time set an uncomfortable tone. That urgency, however, didn’t seem to carry over to the service itself—it took a staggering 50 minutes before our first dish arrived, which felt excessive. On the positive side, the space smells amazing upon entry, and a few dishes really impressed. The grilled mackerel and cassava cake were standout highlights—bursting with flavor and beautifully executed. The prawn toast also deserves a mention. Sadly, the chicken curry didn’t live up to its promise and was surprisingly underwhelming. Overall, it was an okay experience, but not one I’m rushing to repeat. Worth trying once, but the hype definitely oversells it.
"Delicious Food and Great Vibes at the Counter"
The food here is truly fantastic—every bite was packed with flavor and expertly prepared. Sitting near the counter made the experience even better, as you get to watch the magic happen in the kitchen. The hostess/waitress added to the charm with her upbeat energy and helpful attitude. A genuinely enjoyable dining experience from start to finish.
"Great Flavors and Ambiance, but a Slight Wait"
Chef Abby truly knows how to balance heat with sweetness—every dish had a beautiful depth of flavor. The vibes were lovely and the atmosphere makes it a great spot for a date night. The only downside was that our table wasn’t ready at the reserved time, and service, while attentive, was a bit on the slow side. Still, a memorable meal overall. "Promising Food but Service and Timing Need Improvement"
I’d been wanting to try Mambow for a while and finally went last night. The food was quite good—especially the chicken wings and bavette salad, which I really enjoyed. However, I was a bit disappointed with the prawn toast; it lacked the curry flavor I expected and I couldn’t really taste the prawn, though that might just be personal preference. The biggest letdown was the rice. I was really looking forward to it since many dishes were saucy, but it was served late alongside the mains and unfortunately was undercooked. Service-wise, the waitresses were very friendly and nice, but there were some issues. One dish was taken away before we’d finished, so quickly that we didn’t have a chance to say anything. Also, when we tried to order more wings near the end, we were told no because we were “running out of time,” even though we remained at the table for another half hour waiting for dessert and then the bill. Perhaps the wings take a long time to prepare, which would be understandable. Overall, my first visit was a bit disappointing, but I’d like to return and hope it’s not always like this.
