"Only if necessary"

"The experience was disappointing—everything felt disorganized and dirty. There was melted ice cream left behind, and the service was poor overall. No one provided proper directions or explained that there wouldn’t be a terminal truck available. On top of that, no one helped with the luggage, and the driver arrived late. Definitely not up to standard."

"No refunds"

Megabus does not offer refunds, even if you cancel a month before your scheduled departure. I’ll definitely be avoiding them in the future—even if it means paying a little more for a train or flight. The lack of flexibility just isn’t worth the savings.

"Mega Bust – stay away as they have zero respect for their customers"

Avoid this company unless you're using it for sightseeing and don’t care when—or if—you arrive. I booked a Megabus ticket from Quinte West to Pearson International Airport on a Sunday in March. The scheduled departure was 1:35 PM, with arrival at 4:00 PM—plenty of time for my evening flight. However, just as I was getting into the car to head to the pickup point, I received an email stating the bus would be 30–60 minutes late, but that I should still arrive at the scheduled time since the delay was only an estimate. At the stop, another passenger told me Megabus had told him to expect a 2:10 PM arrival. At 2:30 PM, I called Megabus myself and was told the bus wouldn’t arrive until 3:30 PM. At that point, I had to scramble to find someone to drive me 180 km to the airport to avoid a $270 taxi fare and the risk of missing my flight. While en route to Pearson, I found a live update revealing the truth: the bus had been scheduled to leave downtown Kingston at noon but didn’t depart until 1:30 PM. That means Megabus told passengers it was 30–60 minutes late when it actually hadn’t even left yet—and was already 90 minutes behind schedule. The total delay ended up being over 2.5 hours. Even worse, after the initial email, there was no communication until just before the bus finally reached the Quinte West pickup location. All I received from Megabus was a half-hearted apology and a travel voucher—which I absolutely will not be using. To top it off, when I emailed customer service and signed with my full name, they replied using my email handle instead. That tells you all you need to know about how much they value their customers. Never again.

"Megabus to toronto, please avoid if possible"

Terrible service overall. The buses are never on time, and the staff are consistently rude and indifferent to passengers and their belongings. There's also a complete lack of transparency regarding prices and delays. I wouldn’t recommend this company to anyone.

"Avoid at all costs"

Charging $40 for one extra bag is outrageous. The seats are so cramped, even a slim person can’t sit comfortably. This kind of service is unacceptable. I would absolutely not recommend this company to anyone.

"here lies my faith in megabus"

**"The bus was scheduled to arrive at 4:50 but didn’t show up until 5:30—and it was already at full capacity when it finally arrived. The driver told us a second bus was coming, so we waited... for three hours. That’s right—three whole hours. And there was never a second bus. After multiple failed attempts to reach customer service, someone finally got through, and they eventually sent a vehicle to pick up the 7–8 of us who were left stranded. This was my friends' and my first time taking Megabus, and unfortunately, we still have to use it for our return trip. I’m extremely disappointed with the service and will definitely be looking into other options for future travel.

"Terrible online booking"

I’ve spent over a week trying to book a ticket on Megabus—more than five attempts—and every time, their website failed to process my payment, regardless of which credit card I used. No error messages, no explanations—just failure. After days of frustration, I finally called customer service. Instead of resolving the issue, they informed me that both my email and credit card had been flagged. When I asked if they could remove the flag, the response was, “We don’t have this ability.” Seriously? A company that relies entirely on online bookings can’t manage its own payment system? To make matters worse, while I was stuck trying to resolve this, the fare increased by $10. Then, I was told that the only way to book was by phone—which added a $7 phone booking fee. So I was penalized with higher prices and extra fees because their website doesn’t work properly. This entire experience was incredibly frustrating and felt like a scam. If you value your time and money, I strongly recommend avoiding Megabus altogether.
