"Rest, change of scenery"

Hotel is absolutely fantastic! The service is at the highest level, with extremely friendly staff who constantly offer help and make you feel like part of one big family. Whatever you want, they make it happen. The meals are the best I’ve ever experienced – crayfish, shrimp, chicken, turkey, kebabs, and such a huge variety that even the fussiest guest will be satisfied. By the third day, you won’t even want to go to the restaurant because you’ll already be so full from all the delicious feasts – definitely plan for some sports, or imagine gaining +10 kg in 8 days! The alcohol is of good quality, with plenty of cocktails, beer, and a great assortment of fruits. Everything is super clean everywhere. Waiters move like meteors, and rooms are spotless. On the beach, you can relax while they bring you fruit, beer, snacks, and water. We stayed from July 13 to July 21 and are writing this while still here – if I could give 6 stars, this hotel would definitely deserve them. Well done! ❤️

"Warm immersive"

The air-conditioning in and around the hotel lobby doesn’t work properly, making it very uncomfortable, especially in the heat. Inside the hammam, it’s the same issue – no proper ventilation, and to make matters worse, there’s a lingering smell of heavy, stale food that makes the experience unpleasant. This really takes away from what should be a relaxing atmosphere.

"Not quite worth the money"

While I enjoyed my stay, I didn’t feel it justified paying over €400 per night. The suite itself was nice and comfortable, with a cozy bed, a lovely fruit basket, and luxurious Rituals shower gel. However, there were a few details that fell short: the balcony light didn’t work, and there were no teaspoons in the room – I had to stir my tea with a corkscrew! It was frustrating to be told that fresh orange juice would cost extra. At this price point, I expected it to be included. Similarly, I requested almond milk without sugar (as I’ve had in other hotels), but it took two days to get it, and even then, it came with sugar. The food overall was good, especially the fresh fruit, and the restaurant staff were friendly and attentive. The entertainment was enjoyable too, though “80’s Night” was disappointing – the playlist included songs from artists like Justin Bieber who weren’t even around in the 80s. Perhaps renaming it to “Music Night” would better manage guest expectations. One upsetting moment was encountering the “Pirates of the Caribbean” impersonator who had a parrot and a bearded dragon. In my opinion, the animals seemed mistreated, which brought me to tears. When I tried to address it, he was dismissive and rude. On a positive note, I had an excellent massage (and you can negotiate the price). A special mention goes to Niloo, who was fantastic. She was incredibly kind, discreetly checking if I needed help due to my disability, and always made me feel cared for. She truly deserves a promotion. Overall, I had a good time thanks to the lovely staff, but with the overlooked details and additional charges, I’m not sure I would return. Perhaps someday, but it left me a little conflicted.

"Not so much."

This was our third stay at the hotel, spending nine nights in total (2022, 2023, and now September 2024). The first visit left us raving, but this time things felt noticeably different. On the positive side, room cleaning (7029) was excellent, and the food remains varied enough for most tastes. At breakfast, health-conscious options like chia seeds, black cumin, and honeycomb are still available. However, the quality of coffee in the main restaurant has dropped significantly – it’s become watery and bland. For a proper espresso, the lobby bar and beach bar are far better choices. Over the years, we’ve noticed small but disappointing changes. For example, the beautiful fruit platters by the beach that once featured plums, pineapple, watermelon, pears, and melon are now reduced to just two pieces of watermelon or melon at a time. Not a dealbreaker, but certainly a downgrade. The carpets around the hotel are in desperate need of replacement – they’re stained, dirty, and leave an unpleasant impression. But the most shocking issue was in the restaurant: several times, waitresses sprayed cleaning chemicals and wiped down tables while guests were still eating! This left me coughing for half an hour afterward. It’s completely unacceptable and needs immediate attention. The restaurant service also felt inconsistent. In the family-oriented section, the staff worked quickly and efficiently. In other areas, however, the mostly female staff were slower, leaving dishes uncleared and tables hard to come by. One more serious incident: oysters were served by a staff member clearly not trained to open them properly. All three oysters I received had sharp shell fragments inside, making them inedible and potentially dangerous. It was not only a waste of money but a real safety concern. After three stays, we’ve sadly decided this will probably be our last visit. The hotel still has strong points, but the slip in standards and service has become too noticeable to overlook.

"Rather for family or company vacation"

I’m currently relaxing at the hotel after booking it spontaneously just two days before my flight. I chose it based on the great price-to-quality ratio, high ratings here and on Booking, and my agent mentioning it was recently renovated (an important factor for me). CONS (though I’m a picky traveler): The hotel feels “tired” and there were no signs of any recent renovations. In my room, the furniture was scuffed, and the door had visible stains (I even attached photos). I asked reception to either clean the door or change my room. Despite the maid’s efforts, the stains remained. I considered upgrading to a sea view room for an extra €20/night but none were available. Eventually, I decided to let it go and focus on enjoying my trip. That said, the mountain view was beautiful and much quieter—so in hindsight, you don’t necessarily need to pay extra for a sea view. PROS: Despite the worn-out look, the hotel has a cozy and nostalgic charm (Russians will understand the “lamp-shaped” feeling). The staff are attentive, from friendly waiters to warm and sincere animators. I didn’t attend the late-night shows, but what I did see featured soulful performances and talented artists. The food exceeded expectations: fresh shrimp, delicious pastries, plenty of greens, cheeses, honey in the comb, nuts, and more. For breakfast, they’ll prepare eggs or an omelette exactly how you want it. There are various food “stations” catering to all tastes, including a healthy corner for those seeking lighter options. Drinks are varied and of decent quality—dry white and sparkling wines were both enjoyable. The linens were lovely, and there’s even a selection of pillows for added comfort. The beach is about 500 meters from the hotel along a scenic promenade, though a shuttle is available if you prefer not to walk. On the beach, you might encounter friendly Russian-speaking ladies promoting their shop in the hotel lobby. While not relevant for me, it might interest others. The sea itself (though not the hotel’s doing) was clean and warm—pure bliss! Overall: While the hotel has some flaws and doesn’t quite live up to the “recently renovated” claim, the cozy atmosphere, good food, attentive staff, and beautiful surroundings made my stay worthwhile. The fact that many staff speak Russian at reception and in the restaurant was also a plus. I’d recommend it for a relaxing break, especially if you aren’t overly focused on modern finishes.

"Dietary challenge for Vegetarian or Vegan guest"

Our overall experience at Megasaray was underwhelming, primarily because the resort, despite its best intentions, doesn’t adequately cater to guests with vegetarian, vegan, or gluten-free dietary preferences. On the positive side, our sea-view room was spacious with lovely views and standard amenities. The staff were friendly, supportive, and made every effort to meet our needs—Google Translate helped bridge occasional communication gaps. The entertainment team also did its best, organizing karaoke, mini-disco, and live music to keep guests engaged. However, there were several shortcomings. Visiting in early March, we found the outdoor pools closed, and the indoor pools lacked proper changing facilities, though the resort provided bathrobes as a workaround. The main disappointment was with the food. While the all-inclusive restaurant offered a wide range of selections, vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options were severely lacking. Although the Head Chef and restaurant managers kindly worked with us to create one or two vegetarian dishes per meal cycle, we were surprised to discover eggs in cheese and yogurt. For instance, reception even called to warn us against eating the strawberry yogurt we had taken during an early breakfast. Despite informing guest relations of our dietary requirements during check-in, there was no follow-up. It wasn’t until our third day—after we began working directly with the kitchen—that guest relations intervened to formalize the process, requiring an extra procedural step of emailing the kitchen before meals. The check-in experience itself was underwhelming. The female staff member was passive and seemed uninterested, unable to even provide clear restaurant timings. Instead, we were directed to scan a QR code that offered little useful information. With the restaurant closed at our arrival, a kind staff member managed to organize a simple dinner of bread, cheese, and a drink for us. While the resort has potential and many staff members went out of their way to assist, Megasaray still falls short for guests with specific dietary needs, and service inconsistencies detract from its appeal.

"Couple of days on the coast"

I stayed here with friends before heading down the coast of Turkey. Check-in was smooth, and the location is excellent with good service overall. The view from our room overlooking the sea was absolutely stunning. However, be aware that directly below the windows are bars and a dance floor. While it’s a lively atmosphere, sleeping at night can be a challenge 😁. The room itself was functional, but the furnishings and overall condition could use an upgrade.

"Awful Experience"

Where do I even begin? The hotel is nowhere near 5-star standards; at best, it’s a 3-star property. The carpets on the bedroom floor levels are heavily stained, and the rooms themselves are extremely dated, as are the bathrooms. We endured many sleepless nights due to young children running up and down the corridors with no intervention from parents or hotel staff. If you enjoy constant screaming kids in the pool and them zipping around the main indoor bar, then this might be your place – but it certainly isn’t mine. We were offered a complimentary A La Carte dinner at the Italian restaurant (free if you stay 7 nights). Sadly, it was one of the most unpleasant meals I’ve ever had – no surprise it’s free. This hotel will not see me again.

"Travel with family"

The hotel is conveniently located within the city limits, with the beach situated on the first line. It’s about a 10-minute walk to the beach, but there’s also a shuttle bus every 30 minutes for added convenience. The meals were outstanding, offering a wide variety of delicious options, and the service was exceptional – every request was fulfilled instantly and with a smile. The hotel also features a spa with lovely saunas and a swimming pool, making it easy to relax and unwind after a day at the beach or exploring the city. Overall, a great choice for anyone looking for comfort, excellent food, and attentive service.

"Enjoyed our stay"

The hotel is absolutely lovely, and the cocktails are fabulous – all made with branded drinks, which was a big plus! The range of food was excellent too; we really enjoyed every evening meal. However, the service at the bar was quite slow. Staff were often chatting while guests were waiting, and it felt like they could have been better organized to speed up drink orders. There were a few games and entertainment options for adults during the day, but unfortunately, our 11-year-old wasn’t allowed to join in. This made it a bit challenging to keep them entertained. It would’ve been so easy to organize a simple game of ball in the water to engage the kids and stop them from running around the pool – I even suggested this a few times. Overall, it’s a great hotel with delicious food and drinks, but a bit more focus on efficient bar service and family-friendly activities would make it even better.

"Holiday April/may"

This hotel is definitely not 5-star standard – I’d rate it closer to a 3-star. The rooms are dated and in need of an update, although the beds and pillows were really comfy, which was a big plus. The fridge in the room was stocked with water and fizzy drinks, and there were shampoo and conditioner in the bathroom. There’s no iron in the room, but you can call reception and they’ll bring one for an hour before collecting it. The staff were amazing – bar, pool, and restaurant teams were all friendly, helpful, and always up for a chat. Unfortunately, the food let the experience down. It wasn’t what you’d expect from a 5-star hotel, apart from the excellent variety of salads. That said, you won’t go hungry. The hotel is about 30 minutes from the airport and costs around £20 by taxi (tip: use the yellow taxis with a meter for the best price). The beach is across the road, but it’s not sandy and can be hard to walk on. The beach bar is a nice touch though, offering drinks and sandwiches with the same friendly service. There’s no courtesy room for guests with late flights, though you can use the showers in the spa. In a true 5-star hotel, this would normally be standard. Overall, we had a good holiday thanks largely to the lovely staff, but I probably wouldn’t return as the hotel itself didn’t live up to expectations.

"Spoon tar in a barrel of honey good reviews"

We stayed at the hotel for a week over New Year’s, and while there were some positives, several aspects left us disappointed. The New Year’s dinner felt tailored entirely to a Turkish audience. From 7 PM to midnight, the singer performed songs only familiar to locals. They promised a disco from midnight to 2 AM, but by 1:00 AM, the lights were on, staff were cleaning the lobby, and we were asked to leave. While the food at dinner was delicious, the service was poor—getting drinks was frustratingly slow, and we often had to wait or ask multiple times. Rooms: The furniture is dated but functional, and the rooms have been visually updated to look fresher post-renovation. I highly recommend booking a sea-view room—it’s worth it for the stunning scenery, like being on a cruise ship. There’s a minibar with drinks and toiletries (gels, shampoo, toothbrush/paste available on request), but replenishment was inconsistent, requiring us to ask twice. Housekeeping was lackluster—the floors weren’t vacuumed for days, and bottles left behind the bedside table stayed there until we cleaned them ourselves. After complaining at reception, the cleaning improved. Bathrobes and slippers were provided, which were handy for visits to the spa. Food: There’s no shortage of variety—meat, chicken, fish, salads, vegetables, baked goods, and grills—but somehow the dishes didn’t appeal to us. Despite full plates, we often felt unsatisfied. Highlights included grilled dorado, salmon (not daily), and lamb every three days. However, tables were frequently dirty, and waiters were slow to bring water, wine, or tea. Bars: Many reviews rave about the cocktails, but I found them disappointing. The mojito was brown, the piña colada tasted like powdered milk with rum, and the margarita wasn’t great either. On the bright side, bottled beer was available, and Turkish coffee was excellent. Bartenders worked very slowly and often prioritized Turkish guests over others, which left a poor impression of the service. Spa: The spa has free and paid areas, which are essentially the same but separated. The indoor pool is small and dark, making it less inviting. We used the steam room because the hammam was barely warm, and twice the sauna wasn’t working at all. Location: This is the hotel’s standout feature. We walked every day along the beautiful promenade—one way leads to a park with a river, and the other to the aquarium and old town. If you enjoy walking, you’ll love it here. In summary, while we had a pleasant stay overall and the staff were helpful in resolving issues, I can’t share in the glowing reviews. Compared to other 5-star hotels we’ve visited, such as the Grand Kaplan in Alanya (which had less variety but far better food and service), this hotel falls short. It’s a decent place for a holiday, but there’s definitely room for improvement.
