"Great Experience with Myanmar Airways International!"
I flew with Myanmar Airways International and was really pleased with the overall service. The check-in was smooth, and I appreciated the generous baggage allowance — 30 kg checked baggage and 7 kg carry-on. The onboard service was complete and efficient, with friendly staff making the flight comfortable. Definitely giving this airline a thumbs up. +++++ Highly recommended!
"Disappointing Experience with MAI – Would Not Recommend"
My experience with Myanmar Airways International (MAI) was deeply frustrating. From the start, their service lacked transparency and reliability. I attempted to change my May flight within the 24-hour window, but the website didn’t allow it. When I finally reached customer service, I decided to cancel instead — only for them to mistakenly cancel the only flight I had to leave Myanmar in April. The lack of coordination and care was shocking. What’s worse is that these kinds of issues seem to be normal practice for MAI. Unfortunately, complaints appear to go unheard, and the airline continues with poor standards unchecked. I absolutely would not recommend flying with MAI.
"Myanmar Airways International (MAI) – A Reputable Airline with IOSA Certification"
Myanmar Airways International (MAI) is one of the most well-known airlines in Myanmar and has earned a reputable standing by passing the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA). This internationally recognized safety standard reflects the airline’s commitment to maintaining global aviation safety practices. While customer experiences may vary, MAI's IOSA certification indicates compliance with over 900 standards and recommended practices related to operational management and control systems. This places it among a select group of airlines in the region that meet global safety benchmarks — a crucial factor for many travelers when choosing an airline. If you're flying in or out of Myanmar, MAI remains one of the few carriers in the country with this level of international operational safety recognition.
"Frequent Flight Delays with MAI – A Frustrating Experience"
Over the past five months, I’ve experienced three significant flight delays with MAI on the Mandalay–Bangkok route. Each delay has been lengthy—today’s delay lasted three full hours. On most occasions, these delays caused me to miss my connecting flights, leading to further inconvenience and additional costs. If you have the option to fly with another airline, I strongly recommend choosing more wisely. Overall, a very disappointing experience.
"Excellent Customer Service – Quick and Hassle-Free Ticket Change"
I received very good service at this office. They were able to change my ticket without charging any fee, which I truly appreciated. The process was smooth and efficient—definitely a positive experience.
"Extremely Disappointing Service – No Food or Drink Provided"
Terrible experience. The crew refused to provide food and drinks to my uncle, claiming they had run out. It's unacceptable for an airline to be so poorly prepared, especially on a flight where basic service is expected. Very disappointing.
"Efficient and Helpful Customer Service"
The customer service system was good—responsive, organized, and helpful throughout. A smooth experience overall.
"Efficient and Good Services"
I had a positive experience with MAI. The services provided were efficient and smooth from start to finish. Staff were professional and helpful throughout the process.
"Good In-Flight Experience Overshadowed by Unethical Ticketing Practice"
I flew business class on flight 8M350 (RGN–BKK) on August 8, 2023. While the in-flight experience itself was excellent—with dedicated check-in and immigration counters and my baggage checked through to my final European destination—what happened before the flight was deeply disappointing. I noticed the date of my booking was incorrect the morning before departure. My Burmese friend contacted MAI to request a rebooking. The representative claimed there was only one business class seat left and that economy was completely sold out. To secure the “last” seat, I was told I had to pay an upgrade fee to a higher fare, costing me USD 130. However, during the flight, I saw only four of eight business class seats were occupied—including mine. Clearly, the claim about limited availability was false. I find this type of misleading and opportunistic practice unacceptable, and it unfortunately overshadows what could have been a positive experience. Because of this, I cannot recommend MAI and urge the airline to improve its transparency and customer ethics.

The MAI logo features the pyinsarupa, a traditional Burmese chimeric animal symbol, which holds cultural significance.
