"Deeply Unprofessional and Disrespectful Experience at JFK Check-In"

My recent experience with this airline at JFK was deeply concerning. The check-in staff were openly hostile, showing sarcasm and a clear lack of basic courtesy. They seemed to take satisfaction in humiliating passengers over minor baggage issues—forcing people to cram their carry-ons into bins for being just 1–2 pounds over. This isn’t about enforcing policy—it’s about how it's done. There was no greeting, no professionalism, and absolutely no sense of decency or empathy. After that ordeal, we were sent to board a bus in the pouring rain, hauling our luggage up flimsy metal stairs with no assistance and no cover. At the very least, passengers should be warned in advance about this kind of boarding situation. This goes far beyond bad service. It felt disrespectful, dehumanizing, and even unsafe. Based on this experience, I would strongly advise others to think twice before booking with this airline.

"Smooth, On-Time Flights with No-Frills Comfort"

Very reasonable fares. My flights departed and arrived on time in both directions, which I really appreciated. This is a no-frills airline operating modern 787 Dreamliners. Everything beyond basic service—like meals or seat selection—comes at an extra cost, but water is complimentary. The cabin crew was adequate, and the overall experience was smooth and pleasant. A nice surprise: the cool ambient lighting during final approach into JFK added a unique touch. If you’re looking for an affordable and efficient way to fly, this airline delivers on the basics.

"A Masterclass in Inconsiderate Greed"

Flying with Norse Atlantic Airways felt less like travel and more like a calculated effort to extract every last dollar from passengers. Their baggage policy is among the stingiest I’ve encountered—more restrictive than most budget airlines. If your bag is even slightly larger than their reduced limits (which many travelers only discover at the gate), expect a shocking $85 fee per direction. In some cases, that’s more than the ticket itself. This isn’t about safety or fairness—it’s engineered inconvenience. Passengers are left scrambling, layering on clothes, or desperately trying to jam personal items into tight spaces just to avoid fees. It’s disruptive, stressful, and frankly humiliating. Norse's approach reflects a disappointing level of inconsiderate greed. If you’re flying with them, triple-check their baggage limits and brace for unexpected costs—or better yet, choose an airline that respects its passengers and values transparency over trickery.

"Hidden Fees and Poor Customer Service – Beware"

Where do I start? I booked with Norse Atlantic Airways without reading the reviews—big mistake. They charge for everything. I asked the agent at the counter if I could avoid a middle seat, and he said it would cost £100 (~$136). I declined and ended up in the middle seat for a 9-hour flight back to Miami, squeezed between two men. Not ideal. Customer service is practically non-existent. They don’t have a phone number—only email. I contacted them twice and received just one response. That alone is a huge red flag. Another major inconvenience: you can’t check in online. You must do it in person so they can weigh and measure your bags. Expect a long, slow line—so plan extra time at the airport. The only positive? The plane itself was nice. But that’s not enough to make up for the overall lack of service, hidden fees, and inflexible policies. Think twice before booking. I wish I had.

"Missed Connection, No Support — Never Again"

My flight was delayed by over an hour, which caused me and my travel companion to miss our connecting flight — through no fault of our own. We received absolutely no assistance from the airline and were forced to pay over $2,000 out of pocket for new return tickets, not to mention the added costs for hotel and meals. The lack of responsibility and customer support was extremely disappointing. This experience turned what should have been a smooth trip into an expensive and stressful ordeal. I would not recommend this airline and will not be flying with them again.

"Budget Airline with Mixed Experience"

This is definitely a budget airline, and it shows—especially at the airport. Check-in was chaotic, with every single bag being measured and weighed. My carry-on was just 0.5 lb over the limit, and I was told I had to either remove an item and rejoin the line or pay an extra $40 (which I really wish had been refunded). The flight itself was smooth, but the food service left much to be desired. A hot meal was served at 2am, and I was given chicken in tomato sauce—which unfortunately ended up on my shirt due to turbulence. The return flight was a much better experience. The service was friendlier, they only weighed my checked luggage, and the food was noticeably improved—though it was still chicken, this time in brown sauce with rice. The desserts, however, were surprisingly delicious.

"Deceptively Cheap – A Regretful Experience with Norse Atlantic"

We chose to book with Norse Atlantic Airways after seeing an appealing advertisement, hoping to save money compared to established carriers like British Airways or Virgin Atlantic. Unfortunately, the lower upfront fare came with hidden costs and a poor overall experience, making it a decision we deeply regret. This was our first time flying with a budget airline, and it has completely put us off the concept. From paying £7 for a blanket and a similar fee for basic headphones, to being charged $50 per person—including children—for subpar meals (totaling $200 for our family), the added expenses quickly erased any savings. The breakfast was particularly bad—practically inedible. After the meal, trash remained on our trays for an extended time, and no crew member offered to collect it; we had to take it to the back ourselves. The uncomfortable seats and lackluster service only reinforced the sense of a cheap, no-frills operation. In the end, what appeared to be a budget-friendly option turned out to be more expensive than flying with a full-service airline, both in cost and comfort. We won’t fly Norse again.

"Decent for the Price, But Don’t Expect Too Much"

You generally get what you pay for with Norse. While most of the staff are friendly and accommodating, there's always the occasional crew member who seems either disinterested or aloof. The plane itself was clean, and the legroom was comparable to other airlines—not cramped, and if the flight isn't full, you might even be able to move around for extra space. However, there are no complimentary blankets, and while the food was acceptable, portions were small and very expensive. It's worth noting that meals and seat selection come at an additional cost, so the overall price can end up being similar to other full-service airlines. Personally, I’d only consider flying Norse again if it were a last-minute option. Despite some very critical reviews, my experience wasn’t terrible, and I’d recommend trying it for yourself before forming an opinion.

"Low Fares, Lower Standards – A Disappointing Experience with Norse"

While Norse Atlantic may offer cheap fares, the service leaves much to be desired. Even with priority check-in, we were treated poorly at the desk—staff in Norse uniforms claimed not to actually work for the airline, and Norse took no responsibility for their conduct. Gate announcements were chaotic and mumbled, making them nearly impossible to understand. Onboard, the cleanliness was appalling. My seatbelt was visibly dirty and covered in food, yet the flight attendant refused to clean it, despite my partner having skin allergies to certain food residues. To make matters worse, a lavatory was left unusable due to a mess left by a child, and the crew would not clean it. When we attempted to use another restroom, the food service trolley blocked the aisle, and we were told we’d need to wait—eventually standing there for 20 minutes. The level of customer service was shockingly poor. It's hard to imagine any reputable airline handling these situations with such indifference. The only upside? The flight got us from point A to point B. Sadly, that’s the bare minimum one can expect, and Norse barely meets even that.

"Affordable Fares, But Service Falls Short"

We flew from JFK to Paris with Norse Atlantic, drawn in by their affordable ticket prices. Unfortunately, the service did not match expectations. The check-in process was extremely strict—staff weighed every single bag, including personal handbags, not just carry-ons. Even a minor 2-pound overage resulted in a fee of $10 per pound, with no flexibility or grace. Onboard, I was initially asked for my meal preference, but amusingly (and frustratingly), the meal never arrived. It was as if the request had been completely forgotten. While the flight itself was smooth, the overall experience felt rigid and impersonal. If you’re looking for strict policies and minimal in-flight service in exchange for a cheaper fare, this may work for you—but don't expect much beyond transportation.
