Orient Express La Minerva

"Orient Express La Minerva a work of art in the heart of Rome"
Hugo Toro’s design is truly exquisite: soft, atmospheric lighting, artisanal materials, and perfectly balanced spaces that feel both timeless and deeply contemporary. Our Deluxe room with a Pantheon view was beautifully appointed, featuring rich woodwork and bespoke furnishings. Every detail—from the carefully curated minibar and artisan teas to the fresh flowers—felt intentional and crafted with soul. Breakfast in the lobby was elegant and delicious, made even more memorable by the gentle accompaniment of a harp. Lunch showcased refined, well-executed dishes, while the aperitif on the panoramic terrace at sunset, overlooking the dome of the Pantheon, was simply unforgettable. The location is unparalleled—just steps from the Pantheon and within effortless reach of everything Rome has to offer. The staff were exceptionally warm and attentive, perfectly aligned with the Orient Express philosophy of understated excellence. Notably, La Minerva has reintroduced a true concierge service, now called the Curator Team—a rarity among today’s new luxury hotels. While several modern luxury properties have recently opened in Rome, many feel surprisingly lacking in personalized concierge care, making this thoughtful return all the more meaningful. I will return as soon as I can. I truly felt at home.
"Underwhelmed Experience"
As the flagship Orient Express property in the heart of Rome, expectations were understandably high. Unfortunately, our experience was underwhelming. Although the hotel underwent renovations and opened just last spring, the overall impression was that of a property still in transition. The interiors felt dated, as if the refurbishment was either incomplete or limited by budget constraints. The 7th-floor rooftop restaurant and bar—intended to be the hotel’s crown jewel—offers sweeping views of Rome’s iconic landmarks alongside Mediterranean cuisine and cocktails. While the setting has great potential, the space itself is in clear need of further renovation. Even elements such as staff uniforms did not reflect the level of sophistication and refinement one expects from the Orient Express name. For a brand synonymous with timeless elegance, luxury, and meticulous attention to detail, La Minerva fell short. The charm and grandeur long associated with Orient Express were noticeably lacking. In a city as extraordinary as Rome, this debut deserved a more polished and fully realized execution. We departed disappointed, hopeful that future enhancements will elevate the property to the standard its prestigious name promises.
"Charm and luxury in the heart of Rome"
My wife and I had an unforgettable vacation in Italy, and our stay at Orient Express La Minerva was truly a highlight. We were consistently impressed by the professionalism of the staff, the beauty of the property, and the refined décor, as well as the thoughtful personal touches throughout our stay. The concierge team deserves special recognition—they were exceptionally attentive, responsive, and knowledgeable, making all logistics effortless and allowing us to fully enjoy our time in Rome. The hotel’s location is ideal: just steps from the Pantheon, yet discreetly tucked away on a quiet nearby piazza. Despite being in the heart of the city, the atmosphere was peaceful and never noisy or disruptive. A wonderful stay in every sense—we would happily return.
