"Avoid This Agency – Disorganization and Discriminatory Treatment"
I strongly advise against booking with this agency due to serious organizational issues and unacceptable treatment of international travelers. On the day of departure, an extra person was added to the group last-minute, which caused problems with bus and restaurant space. Our group included 8 French tourists and 12 local travelers. At the restaurant, we were told to give up our seats so the local group could eat together — we were left standing with no help from the guide or restaurant staff. It was made clear that locals were prioritized, and we were treated as second-class participants. For the Rainbow Mountain hike, we were left to hike completely alone — the guide was nowhere to be found. Thankfully, nothing went wrong, but it was unacceptable to be left without support. We were also told that hiking poles were included, but out of our group of 8, only 6 people received a single pole each — far from what was promised. This experience showed a complete lack of professionalism, accountability, and respect for paying customers. Avoid this agency. There are far better and more respectful operators in Cusco.
"Poorly Managed Tours, Dishonest Practices, and Terrible Transport – Avoid This Agency"
We did two tours with them: Sacred Valley – Left almost an hour late because the minibus stopped for gas. The guide looked unprofessional, and the back seats were extremely uncomfortable. Humantay Lagoon (paid) – They sent us on a Rainbow Mountain tour instead without informing us. When we questioned it, the guide was rude, and the agency brushed it off. The guide gave no explanations, and the bus was old, hot, and smelled bad. Worst experience with a tour agency. Do not recommend.
"Misleading Promises on Salkantay Trek – Poor Organization"
We booked the 5-day Salkantay Trek with this agency based on specific promises — unfortunately, many of them were broken. We were told the group would be no larger than 8 people, but there were 15 of us. Our Machu Picchu entrance ticket (Circuit 1) was supposed to be included. One of the main reasons we chose to book through an agency was to avoid the hassle of securing the ticket ourselves. However, we found out during the trek that we didn’t even have tickets yet. On the final day, we had to rush to get the tickets last-minute, which was stressful and poorly communicated. This level of disorganization and lack of transparency is unacceptable for such an important trip. I would not recommend this agency.
"Poor Coordination Ruined the Experience – Avoid This Agency"
The lack of coordination between the agency and the guide was completely unacceptable. It turned what should have been an enjoyable tour into a frustrating ordeal. My most sincere recommendation: DO NOT book with this agency. There are more reliable and better-organized options out there.
"Guide Never Showed Up – No Support or Refund"
I paid for a tour to the 7 Colors Mountain, but on the scheduled day, the guide never showed up. I tried calling the agency, but no one answered. To make things worse, they harassed me when I asked for a refund for the tour that never happened. Very bad experience. I do not recommend this agency.
"Poor Communication and Hidden Fees – Not Recommended"
Terrible experience with this agency. They fail to properly inform clients about payment details, then later surprise you with unexpected extra charges. Their advisors are unresponsive, provide incomplete information, and when issues arise, they try to blame the customer for their own administrative mistakes. This lack of professionalism made the whole process stressful and frustrating. I do not recommend this agency.
"Great Experience – Friendly and Reliable Service"
This is a reliable company with great service. Everyone was very friendly, and they fully met my expectations. I had a wonderful trip and especially enjoyed the ATV experience — it was a lot of fun! Thank you for everything, never change!
"Deceptive and Unprofessional – Avoid PGTE for the Salkantay Trek"
I have never worked with a tour company that lies so much and cares so little about its customers. My experience with PGTE for the Salkantay Trek was deeply disappointing. Below is a list of promises that were broken and issues I faced: Pickup failure: I was told a bus would pick me up from my accommodation. Instead, a man walked me nearly 1km to a communal square, and the bus was an hour late. Misleading company info: I was assured that PGTE uses its own guides and is not a subsidiary of a larger agency. In reality, PGTE is a subsidiary of KB Travel, who runs the actual treks. False group size: I was told the group would be no larger than 12 people and that I was the fifth to sign up. In reality, over 80 people departed that same day with KB Travel, and my group had 13 participants — many of whom had signed up before me. Defective equipment: I paid $5 USD for an inflatable mattress, which leaked and was unusable. Unpaid activity: I also paid for ziplining as an extra, but the funds were never transferred to the zipline company, and I was expected to pay again on site. Late guide meeting: My scheduled pre-trek meeting with the guide was delayed by an hour because the guide never showed up on time. When I brought up these issues after returning, I was offered no compensation. Worse, the staff member told me I had a "poor attitude" for pointing out the discrepancies between what was promised and what was delivered. That’s not how any professional company should treat its customers. While the Salkantay Trek itself was beautiful, the logistics, organization, and customer service from PGTE were unacceptable. There are better and cheaper operators in Cusco who treat travelers with respect and honesty. If you want to enjoy your trek without added stress, I strongly recommend booking with a different agency.
