"avoid like the plague"

If there's literally any other way to travel, take it instead of this bus line. They are consistently late, the staff is rude and unhelpful, and the drivers are often dangerously incompetent. I paid $40 for an 8:00–10:00 PM ticket from South Station to Amherst Center in February. The driver got lost for over an hour and then dropped us off at the wrong location, causing me to miss my connecting bus. This isn’t a one-off—I’ve heard from others who’ve also been left stranded. Unless you're looking to overpay for a stressful ride that ends nowhere near your destination and includes staff attitude as a bonus, I strongly suggest you use public transit or anything else.

"Rude customer service agent and Driver. I don’t recommend."

Customer service agent Lee was incredibly rude when I simply asked a question. To make matters worse, the driver falsely claimed the bus was full—even though I counted at least 10 people who were left behind, meaning there were clearly empty seats. This level of dishonesty and lack of professionalism is unacceptable. I expected basic respect and transparency, but got neither.

"A Meh Experience At Best"

I live in New Bedford and regularly take the Boston line. The ride to Boston is usually smooth and pleasant. Unfortunately, the return trip is consistently frustrating—and not just because of traffic. The biggest issue is the driver who unnecessarily stops at multiple locations where no one is getting on or off. He stays parked until it's time to depart, even though he has access to the passenger manifest and knows in advance that no one is boarding. What’s worse, last-minute passengers can’t even buy tickets on the spot—they need to do it through a ticketing agent, which only exists at the major terminals like South Station or Providence. So really, we’re wasting time for no reason. Another major frustration is having to wait for connecting passengers from the chronically late New York line. These buses almost never arrive on time, yet we’re made to sit and wait well past our scheduled departure “so they’re not stranded.” Meanwhile, the majority of us who are on time are treated like we don’t matter. Honestly, I can’t wait for the Southcoast Commuter Rail to launch. I know many regulars feel the same—we’re ready to switch. Best of luck when that happens, Peter Pan. You're going to need it.
