"A Refined Dining Experience at Guy Savoy — Elegant but Not Quite Transcendent"
A memorable dinner at Guy Savoy — I genuinely enjoyed it, though I didn’t quite fall in love. The setting is absolutely magical, with a grand entrance through the Palais de la Monnaie and breathtaking views over the Seine. Being personally welcomed by Chef Guy Savoy himself was a wonderful and memorable touch. The starters, while beautifully presented and refined, lacked a bit of punch in flavor. The main courses, however, were outstanding — rich, balanced, and deeply satisfying. The wine pairing was another highlight of the evening, as the sommelier curated an exceptional selection that showcased some of my favorite French wines perfectly. Service, as expected, was attentive, polished, and flawlessly orchestrated. Though undeniably expensive for a two-star restaurant, the overall experience — from the setting to the craftsmanship — makes it worth trying at least once, especially for those who appreciate the artistry and elegance of fine French dining.
"A Memorable Evening at Guy Savoy — Still Worthy of Three Stars"
What an amazing dinner shared with friends — truly a place to go for an unforgettable experience. The atmosphere was elegant and warm, with beautifully designed dining rooms that added to the charm of the evening. The food and presentation were both exceptional, showcasing artistry and precision in every dish. A special highlight was having Mr. Guy Savoy himself visit our table several times to chat with us — such a gracious and inspiring touch that made the night even more memorable. It’s difficult to understand why Michelin removed one of his three well-deserved stars, as the overall experience was absolutely world-class. Thank you to Mr. Savoy and the entire team for a wonderful evening filled with outstanding cuisine, impeccable service, and genuine hospitality.
"Impressive Setting and Service, but Food Falls Short of 2-Star Michelin"
The dining experience was pleasant, featuring classic French cuisine, but I didn’t find any dishes that truly lived up to a 2-star Michelin standard. On a hot summer’s day, the dining room felt far too warm and stuffy, and I was surprised to be chastised for removing my jacket to cool down. Otherwise, the service was friendly and attentive, and the venue itself was highly impressive. The sommelier provided a unique and thoughtful wine pairing experience, and meeting the chef in person was a special touch. Despite these positives, I remain uncertain whether the restaurant justifies its steep price tag — €1,000 per person with wine pairing seems high for the overall culinary experience.
"Refined Elegance and Joyful Moments at Guy Savoy, Paris"
Dinner at Guy Savoy in Paris was a genuinely delightful experience. Holding two Michelin stars, the restaurant delivers everything you’d expect — refined cuisine, impeccable service, and a serene, well-paced atmosphere that allows each course to shine on its own. We chose the smaller tasting menu recommended by the chef de service, which showcased an impressive range of flavors and textures. Every dish was carefully composed to highlight its main ingredient with precision and restraint. The cooking felt confident, thoughtful, and elegant without crossing into excess. The standout moment of the evening was the signature artichoke soup served with a warm truffle croissant and truffle butter. Following the chef’s playful suggestion, we used our hands — tearing the croissant, dipping it into the soup, and savoring the buttery truffle on our fingers. It was unexpectedly fun, slightly messy, and all the more memorable for it. The rich, earthy flavors and indulgent textures created a sense of pure culinary joy amid the refined setting. Service throughout the evening struck the perfect balance — professional yet relaxed, polished yet personable. The sommelier’s pairings elevated each dish beautifully and added a layer of warmth to the experience. Overall, Guy Savoy offers a dining experience that’s both graceful and quietly impressive — ideal for a special evening or for anyone who appreciates thoughtful, expressive cuisine in a calm and elegant environment.
"Disappointing Experience at Guy Savoy — Overpriced and Underwhelming"
Our experience at Guy Savoy was deeply disappointing, especially given the restaurant’s claim to be among the top five in the world. We initially considered the €640 tasting menu, but due to dietary restrictions, we opted for à la carte instead. From the start, the bread service was underwhelming — only one type was offered, hard and overcooked, leaving crumbs everywhere. Requesting a better loaf was necessary, which felt far from the Michelin standard. The chef’s signature artichoke soup, served with preserved black truffle, failed to impress; the truffle quality was subpar compared to fresh summer truffles available globally. Other dishes, including the lobster and blanquette, were bland and overly sauced, masking the natural flavors. Presentation and creativity felt dated, reminiscent of the 1990s. The cheese trolley was basic, featuring only classic French cheeses with minimal storytelling, and no accompaniments like honey or bread. Espresso was €9 each and disappointingly weak, far from the standard expected. The overall bill was €1,370 for a modest meal of shared starters, soups, mains, dessert, cheese, espresso, and a single bottle of Champagne — a steep price considering the experience. Service issues included wrinkled tablecloths, average glassware, and abrupt handling of final desserts. In comparison to other Michelin-starred restaurants in Italy, Hong Kong, Japan, and China, Guy Savoy falls short. This is a case of paying for a legendary name rather than a truly world-class dining experience.
"Overrated and Inconsistent — A Disappointing 3-Star Experience"
I’m honestly baffled at how this restaurant retains its three Michelin stars. The pre-amuse, shaved button mushrooms with string beans in mayo, set the tone — the mushrooms weren’t fresh or in season, and the string beans were past their prime. Unfortunately, this theme continued throughout the meal, with numerous attempts to showcase ingredients that felt neither fresh nor appropriately seasonal. A milky oyster dish in August at a three-star Michelin? It was perplexing. It felt more like a cash cow than a cutting-edge dining experience — classic dishes that might have been innovative a decade ago, relying on out-of-season ingredients from famed purveyors. If you enjoy drinking $600+ bottles of Château Margaux from a mediocre year or want a lavish atmosphere with so many courses that it overwhelms the senses, this place might suit you. Service was highly professional but lacked genuine hospitality. We were treated nicely, yet nearby guests were subtly made to feel uncomfortable over their menu choices. The sommelier, while knowledgeable, seemed more performative than helpful, offering an overpriced Bordeaux that wasn’t ready to drink without suggesting proper decanting. Ultimately, it’s a place to dress up and enjoy the pageantry, but if you care about truly exceptional food and a consistent Michelin-caliber experience, look elsewhere.
"Elegant and Creative Dining at Guy Savoy — Beautiful Experience, Though Not Quite Perfect"
A very late post — we dined at Guy Savoy back in April 2024. Since it’s known as one of the most expensive restaurants in Paris, we were truly excited for the experience, and it certainly made an impression. Chef Guy Savoy himself greeted us upon arrival, which was such a warm and memorable touch. The food was beautifully presented and undeniably creative, with every dish showing artistry and attention to detail. However, the flavors didn’t completely wow us — perhaps it was just an off night or simply a matter of personal taste. Still, it was an enjoyable experience overall, and absolutely worth trying at least once (and yes, the photos speak for themselves!). The setting inside La Monnaie de Paris in Saint-Germain was stunning — elegant, grand, and perfect for a special evening. It’s definitely the kind of place where you want to dress up and take that classic photo on the staircase before your meal. Sadly, we were running late and only managed a quick selfie, but the atmosphere alone made the night feel special.
"Overpriced and Mismanaged — A Disappointing Experience at Guy Savoy"
The tasting menu itself wasn’t bad, but our experience was overshadowed by what felt like blatant overcharging. My wife is pregnant, and I had hoped to enjoy the wine pairing myself. Although the menu clearly listed wine pairings, the restaurant claimed they didn’t have it that evening but would “accommodate.” I received a selection of wines and a scotch, none of which I chose, and my wife had only tiny sips, which we assumed were a courteous gesture. When the bill arrived, we were shocked — each tasting portion poured for us was charged as a full glass, resulting in a total of over €1,800. Considering the tasting menu is €630 per person and the wine pairing approximately €740, the charges were completely unexpected and felt misleading. We’ve dined at over ten Michelin-starred restaurants, and this was by far the most frustrating and poorly managed experience. The food may have been decent, but the billing practices and lack of clear communication left a lasting negative impression. Based on this experience, we will not return, and I would advise Americans visiting to be extremely cautious.
"An Anniversary Lunch to Remember — Pure Perfection at Every Step"
What can I say but wow — an absolutely delightful experience from start to finish. My husband and I dined here for lunch to celebrate our anniversary, arriving with high expectations given the price, and it was worth every cent. From the moment we walked in, the service was impeccable — attentive, precise, and genuinely warm. The staff’s attention to detail was flawless and made us feel truly cared for throughout the meal. The food was nothing short of exceptional. We chose the Keep It Simple set menu with wine pairing, and every dish was both delicious and artfully presented. The truffle butter alone could have been a course of its own — I could have happily eaten it by the spoonful! Each wine was perfectly selected to complement the flavors of the dishes without ever overpowering them. By the end of the meal, we were both sad it was over, yet grateful — we couldn’t have eaten another bite. It was the perfect balance of indulgence and elegance. Hats off to the chef and the entire team for creating an experience we will remember fondly for years to come.
"A Heartfelt Celebration at Restaurant Guy Savoy — Pure Sensation!"
Service was excellent, but the hospitality was beyond words. Our incredible team — Alexandre, Gilbert, and Charlotte — made the evening unforgettable. They treated us not just as honored guests, but as dear friends, creating an atmosphere of warmth and genuine care that’s rare even at the finest restaurants. The food was superb from start to finish. Each course was beautifully crafted, thoughtful, and perfectly complemented by wine pairings that enhanced every bite. We celebrated our second anniversary here, and we couldn’t have chosen a better venue to mark such a special occasion. We’ll definitely be back — without question. Because at Restaurant Guy Savoy, you don’t just come for the staff, the food, or the wine… you come for the sensation — a complete, soul-stirring experience that stays with you long after the last course.
