"Chef Euphoria Restaurant"
I went with high expectations, but unfortunately, the experience fell short. The portions were surprisingly small—around 5–600g of lobster split among 14 people, and the caviar on two of the dishes was a cheap hybrid, with Osetra only offered as a supplement. Even the signature duck puff pastry was just half a slice and quite ordinary in taste, leaving little impact. While the restaurant’s presentation and theatrics may appeal to the recent trend of “self-serving Michelin” style dining, the overall experience felt overpriced and underwhelming. You’re free to try it, but in my opinion, it’s a waste of time and money.
"An Exceptional Restaurant."
NYC’s fine dining scene is elevated by the brilliance of Restaurant Yuu, where French and Japanese influences meld into a Michelin-starred culinary journey. Each dish is presented with both theatrical flair and precise craftsmanship. A standout example is the Duck en Croute—a fire-roasted duck layered with a paste of minced duck leg, mushrooms, and onions, topped with foie gras and wrapped in spinach—a truly decadent composition. Beyond the savory creations, the restaurant offers an avant-garde dessert and beverage program, each element thoughtfully designed to complement the meal. From start to finish, Restaurant Yuu delivers an extraordinary dining experience, combining artistry, innovation, and impeccable technique. It’s a must-visit for anyone seeking culinary excellence in New York City.
"Japanese chef’s French restaurant show"
I visited Restaurant Yuu, which runs two seatings at 5:00 PM and 8:30 PM, with 18 guests at the counter. The dining experience begins theatrically as the front curtain opens and the chefs appear, explaining the menu and showing ingredients like lobster (about 600g), vegetables, and a simple Shizuoka melon. While the presentation is polished, the food itself felt underwhelming. A lobster main dish, which would normally be over 3 pounds at a steakhouse, was sliced into two and shared among 18 guests in a salad—hardly impressive for the $250 price. Butter isn’t provided despite the French influence, and the flavors are light. Caviar, offered as an $80 supplement, was scarcely ordered, and the young chefs, though skilled in plating, lacked depth in execution. Overall, the meal felt overpriced and less satisfying than expected.
"A must go!"
At Restaurant Yuu, every dish is presented as a work of art. Each course is meticulously crafted, highlighting the chefs’ exceptional skill and creative flair. Beyond the stunning presentation, the flavors are equally remarkable, offering a truly memorable tasting experience. The attentive and knowledgeable staff elevate the visit further, providing impeccable service with a personal touch. Combined with the enchanting ambiance, dining at Restaurant Yuu is a seamless blend of artistry, taste, and elegance—an unforgettable experience for any fine dining enthusiast.
"Amazing dinner experience"
Chef Yuu Shimano’s talent is undeniable—receiving a Michelin Star just six months after opening in May 2023 speaks volumes. With only about 18 counter seats, the intimate setting elevates the experience, making each visit feel like a front-row seat to a culinary performance. Our first visit in March 2024 was unforgettable. As the lights dimmed and the curtain lifted, revealing the chefs in action, the evening felt like the opening scene of a grand theater. The 15-course Omakase began with four amuse-bouches: Ikura, Mussel, and Foie Gras, presented with stunning artistry. A hot soup followed immediately, perfectly complementing the starters. Courses continued with Shima-Aji, Pissaladière, Oyster, and Wagyu Tartare—all tasting heavenly. A surprise caviar dish with sour cream on brioche was a highlight, both generous and exquisite. The savory journey progressed with Arctic Char, Abalone Risotto, Langoustine, Egg and Truffle, paired with house-made bread and butter, followed by Monkfish, Cod, Veal, Lamb, and their signature Canard with shaved truffles. Every dish delivered layers of incredible flavors, making it impossible to pick a favorite. Desserts, including Pear & Yuzu and Matcha & Strawberry, were just as masterful. After the Omakase, guests move to the lounge for complimentary hot tea, petit fours, and even take-home desserts—a delightful touch. Returning in June allowed us to experience a mostly new menu, again showcasing Chef Yuu’s creativity and mastery. Each visit confirms that Restaurant Yuu is not just a meal, but an extraordinary culinary experience worth savoring again and again.
