Rixos Downtown Antalya

"Not good! Rixos, this is a BAD SERVICE!"
Dirty appliances in the cafeteria and poor service set the tone for our stay. The food was drenched in butter and covered with fried crusts. If you’re hoping to find healthy options, don’t expect much — even the pasta was soaked in oil and inedible. Ordering a simple soup for a child with allergies was impossible. The à la carte restaurants all require booking in advance (from Moscow!), and everything was fully booked for days. The waiters were far from guest-oriented; it felt more like a low-level dining hall than a proper restaurant. There’s an elevator down to the sea, but the queue to get back up can be very long. By the sea, you can only sit on the rocks unless sunbeds happen to be set up. The kids’ club is small, stuffy, and not particularly inviting. We’ve been trying to find activities to keep our child happy so we don’t completely ruin the trip. After coming here for five days from Papillon, we really felt the difference. At Papillon, the service was fantastic, the staff were attentive, and everything was designed with guests in mind. Sadly, Rixos did not live up to its reputation. We will never return.
"Amazing hotels"
This hotel exceeded all expectations! The staff are so friendly and incredibly efficient — nothing was too much trouble for them. The food was absolutely delicious, always fresh, and there was such a wide variety to choose from. Drinks were fantastic too, with plenty of well-known brands available. The rooms were very comfortable, spotlessly clean, and maintained to a high standard. The spa was a real highlight — beautifully clean, relaxing, and the staff there were so helpful and welcoming. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. We’re already looking forward to coming back!
"Gorgeous but some let downs."
The hotel itself is gorgeous — from the moment we arrived, we were in love with the stunning surroundings and facilities. I want to give special thanks to two staff members who truly went above and beyond: Emir Can around the pool and Ahmed in the outdoor dining area. Both provided exceptional 5-star service, remembering our favorite drinks and bringing them without us even asking, and having wet wipes ready for the children whenever needed. They made our stay so much more enjoyable — thank you both! The beds were incredibly comfortable and spacious, but the room decor felt dated and didn’t quite match the images we’d seen online. A room upgrade would really elevate the experience. The beach being pebbled was a downside for us; it made it less enjoyable, and I only went once despite usually loving beach days. Some staff were a little too attentive at times, asking for feedback daily — while well-meaning, it became a bit intrusive when all we wanted was to relax. As for the food, there was plenty of variety, but it all tasted quite similar and somewhat bland in flavor. That said, Land of Legends was absolutely incredible! It really made the holiday special and is a huge highlight. For that reason alone, I’d consider coming back — though next time, I’d probably try another Rixos property to see if it’s a better fit.
"Better visiting the place if you either speak Turkish or Russian, overall okay hotel"
The resort itself is huge with plenty of activities, so you don’t really need to leave the property at all. We stayed for 3 nights, and the booking and payment process was smooth. Upon arrival for check-in, we were asked to wait and sit down for a resort-style check-in, but we politely declined as we were jet-lagged and knew it would delay things. Thankfully, a Russian lady supervisor was incredibly friendly and efficient — she handled our check-in quickly, provided all the necessary information, and even upgraded us to a sea-view room. The room was spacious with a great view, a complimentary minibar we didn’t use, and a shower (no bathtub, so keep that in mind). However, we noticed a bad smell in the bathroom which turned out to be from the hand towels. We avoided using them and stuck to the larger towels. Also, the shower gel bottle was empty — not a major issue, but worth the hotel’s attention. The pool area was fantastic and easily one of the resort’s strengths. With two bars and a snack bar, the service and staff there were outstanding — warm, friendly, and made us want to stay by the pool all day. The live band performance from 9 pm to 11 pm was also excellent and shouldn’t be missed. At the all-day dining restaurant, we missed lunch but had breakfast and dinner there daily. The food was great with plenty of options, and the staff were attentive and helpful. The outdoor seating area is lovely, though be aware of the many cats around (which we didn’t mind). For those uncomfortable with cats, the staff actively try to keep them away. As a side note, cats are common throughout the country, and it’s not something the hotel can completely control. The spa facilities were very good — the VIP steam, sauna, and hammam were excellent. The massage was hands down the best we’ve ever had, though we were surprised by the upfront payment policy (perhaps to prevent guests from slipping out another exit?). The cost was higher than expected, but it was worth it. At check-out, we were granted late check-out upon request and were pleased with the quick and helpful service from the concierge team for luggage and taxi arrangements. However, this is where things took a disappointing turn. At the front desk, we encountered Guest Relations, and our experience highlighted serious training and communication gaps. A male receptionist didn’t greet or make eye contact, and the guest relations team seemed more focused on collecting 5-star reviews than providing genuine assistance. One staff member even introduced himself as our “personal guest relations” — though we hadn’t seen or heard from him during our entire stay — and insisted on us writing a review and sending a screenshot via WhatsApp. This approach felt pushy and inappropriate, leaving us wondering how many other reviews might have been solicited in a similar way. Additionally, about an hour before check-out, Guest Relations called to ask about our stay. When we said we were busy packing, they bizarrely insisted our check-out was the next day and argued about it, despite us knowing our booking dates. This lack of focus and professionalism was concerning. To make matters worse, staff members often seemed glued to their phones in the lobby — not exactly the image you want from the hotel’s front-facing team. The biggest issue, however, is the language barrier. Very few staff members spoke English fluently, making communication a real challenge. Even the operator struggled with basic English, which was especially frustrating. At times, we weren’t sure whether staff were being rude or if it was simply a misunderstanding caused by the language gap. For an international resort that’s part of the Accor group, this level of service isn’t what we expected. In summary, the resort and its facilities are excellent — the pools, spa, restaurants, and housekeeping were all great. But the unprofessional front office team and widespread language issues significantly detracted from the experience.
"Very good"
This resort is super quiet, very clean, and located in a beautiful spot. Everything is well organized, making it easy to relax and enjoy the surroundings. The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, always ready to help with a smile. The food was delicious with plenty of variety to suit everyone’s tastes. It’s also very family-friendly — the Rixy Club is perfect for kids, offering lots of fun activities, while adults can enjoy plenty of sports options and tranquil spaces to unwind.
"Sharing pictures around"
I’ve stayed at Rixos hotels before and always appreciated their excellent food and services, but my recent stay at Rixos Downtown left me disappointed. One of the main reasons we booked this hotel was for the complimentary shuttle to The Land of Legends. Unfortunately, the service was poorly managed. The shuttle only runs three times a week from 19:00 to 22:30, which is already very limited. I arrived at the pickup spot at exactly 19:00 and 55 seconds, only to discover that the shuttle had already left. When I asked about it, the staff member responded unapologetically and suggested I book for Thursday — but that was pointless since I was flying to Dubai that day. At other Rixos properties, staff check guest names and even call to ensure no one is left behind. Sadly, that level of care was missing here. To make matters worse, when my mum went to the desk to raise this issue, as soon as she walked away, we saw staff taking photos of my family, laughing, and talking amongst themselves. This felt highly unprofessional and disrespectful. While the food and overall services were still good, the lack of flexibility, poor management of the shuttle service, and unprofessional behavior of some staff soured the experience. I expected much better from a brand like Rixos.
"What a great hotel in a great location!"
We stayed at Rixos Downtown for a week last week — our very first holiday as a family of three with our 4-month-old baby. We couldn’t have picked a better place for such a special trip! It was also our anniversary, and the hotel went above and beyond by upgrading our room and surprising us with a bottle of wine and lovely decorations (including balloons). Such a thoughtful touch made us feel truly welcome. The staff are absolutely incredible — from the bell boys, reception, and maintenance team to the pool attendants, lifeguards, and the fantastic waiters and waitresses in the main restaurant. The bar staff (both indoor and outdoor) and even the servers on rollerblades are not only skilled but also so friendly and accommodating. Our room was spacious and had everything we needed. On arrival, we noticed a small issue with the A/C control not turning off, but it was resolved promptly the next morning. Families will be pleased to know the hotel provides travel cots, baby baths, irons, and mini ironing boards. Nothing was ever too much trouble for the staff. The food was lovely — fresh, well-cooked, and not greasy. While a two-week stay might make it feel a little repetitive, the variety and quality were still excellent throughout our stay. The location is perfect. We’ve visited Antalya before, so we knew how convenient it was. It’s about €5 (200 TL) for a taxi to the Old Town and roughly 150 TL to the Migros mall with its huge hypermarket. Buses and trams are also available, though walking with a pram in the evenings can be tricky. The lift down to the beach path is right outside the hotel, and I loved taking afternoon strolls there with the baby, stopping for a drink at Rixos’ Aruna Beach Club. The pool area is spacious and spotless, with no issues finding sunbeds. Guests were a mix of British, Dutch, German, Russian, and others — all generally friendly, though we sadly witnessed some treating staff rudely (including fellow Brits). Drinks were excellent with branded spirits included in the all-inclusive, and the cocktails were delicious. Starbucks on site was such a bonus — PSLs for free in Turkey? Yes, please! The minibar was restocked daily with water, Coke, Fanta, and beer at no extra charge. I also really appreciated the hotel’s eco-friendly initiatives. There are signs in the rooms about reducing waste and opting out of daily towel and linen changes, as well as reminders in the restaurant about food waste — such a positive step for an all-inclusive resort. We returned home less than a week ago and are already looking at rebooking for 2025 — that alone speaks volumes, as we’re usually eager to try new destinations! A little tip for fellow travelers: Please take the time to tip the staff. They work incredibly hard, and even a small gesture (50-100 TL, equivalent to £1-£2 or €1-€2) for drinks or at the end of a meal means so much. If you treat people well, they’re sure to treat you even better.
"Vacation at Rixox Downtown Antalya"
The rooms definitely need updating and, in our opinion, don’t meet the standards of a 5-star international hotel. At best, they felt closer to a 3.5 or 4-star rating. We tried to request a better room during our stay, but Guest Relations informed us it wasn’t possible, even though the hotel seemed only 50–60% full. That being said, the rest of our experience was good. The pool area, food, and service were all fine. The staff across the hotel worked hard to provide professional and friendly service. Special thanks to Daria and Ana at reception for going above and beyond with their exceptional assistance. Overall, the team made a real effort to ensure guests felt welcomed and looked after, which we truly appreciated.
"Pleasant stay but nothing more"
I had a lovely stay here with my husband. The location was peaceful and perfect for taking a break and unwinding. However, the food was quite average and nothing particularly special.
"Good experience"
First of all, the staff were incredibly kind and helpful throughout our stay. The food was delicious and offered a good variety. We especially loved the heated pool, which was such a treat. The kids’ club was excellent for our little ones, and we were also delighted with the photo shooting experience. We will definitely come back!
"Beautiful house for beach holidays"
We arrived in the late afternoon and were greeted in a friendly manner, but unfortunately, there was no one available who spoke German. After several inquiries, someone was eventually called who spoke a little German. This was disappointing given the hotel description stated “German is spoken.” The room was spacious and nicely decorated, with a clean bathroom equipped with all the necessary toiletries. Both were cleaned well on a daily basis. The food in the restaurant was rather monotonous and limited in variety. Service levels varied — some waiters were attentive, but others were often distracted, especially in the lobby, where we experienced occasions of not being served because staff were busy on their phones. Once again, almost no German was spoken, which made communication difficult. There was also no clear information in the hotel about activities or things to do. The TUI tour guide focused mainly on selling excursions and referred us to guest relations for other inquiries, but they spoke as much German as we spoke Turkish! On a positive note, one outdoor pool was heated, and the staff at the pool bars were friendly. The hotel is located slightly outside the city, but the tram provides an easy and inexpensive way to reach Antalya. However, figuring out where to buy tickets was left for guests to discover themselves. It was also nice that bicycles could be rented free of charge, and the beautifully landscaped park behind the hotel was a highlight.
