Saint James Paris

"Paris Chateau"
We spent five days here before our river cruise and one more night upon our return. The hotel’s location is simply perfect — you can walk out to the left or right and find yourself strolling along beautiful, quiet streets filled with Parisian charm. Elegant, peaceful, and ideally situated, this hotel offered the perfect start and end to our trip.
"Beautiful Chateau Hotel in the 16th"
A beautiful château-style hotel set in a lovely neighborhood in the 16th arrondissement, away from the tourist crowds. Our room and bed were very comfortable, and the serene outdoor terrace along with the stylish Library Bar made for a truly relaxing stay. However, as Relais & Châteaux members and given the room rates, we expected a bit more in terms of special touches—a small welcome gesture or a complimentary drink at the bar or terrace would have made the experience feel even more memorable.
"Château living in the heart of Paris — magnifique!"
The Saint James Hotel is one of the most extraordinary hotels I’ve ever experienced—and now my absolute favorite in Paris. Nestled in a peaceful, refined neighborhood, this restored château perfectly balances grandeur with intimacy and warmth. We stayed in the stunning Victor Hugo apartment, which made our visit unforgettable. Occupying an entire floor with private elevator access, it featured two spacious suites with luxurious bathrooms, a lovely breakfast area overlooking the garden, and a fully equipped kitchen with Gaggenau appliances. Every detail reflected thoughtful design and refined taste. The staff were truly exceptional—gracious, discreet, and incredibly attentive. They went above and beyond to make my 40th birthday feel deeply personal, decorating the room with balloons in my favorite colors and surprising me with an exquisite birthday cake by Chef Coline Doussin—honestly, the best cake I’ve ever had. The public spaces were equally impressive. The light-filled dining room exudes timeless elegance, breakfast was fresh and beautifully presented, and the Bar Bibliothèque offered a cozy, sophisticated setting for both morning coffee and evening cocktails. The hotel’s recommendations were spot-on as well—Le Stella, a nearby Parisian bistro, was a highlight of our trip. The Saint James Paris sets a new benchmark for hospitality: elegant without pretension, warm yet sophisticated, and simply unforgettable in every way.
"It was fine…"
The hotel’s quiet location off the beaten path was a welcome retreat, and the front desk and concierge teams were truly fantastic—helpful, attentive, and welcoming. However, the food and beverage service left much to be desired. The restaurant staff, in particular, seemed indifferent and at times almost rude, making us feel as though asking for anything was an inconvenience. Overall, it felt like the hotel stopped just short of being truly exceptional, which was disappointing given its potential.
"Outstanding"
While no hotel is entirely perfect, this property comes remarkably close. From the comfort and service to the attention to detail, everything exceeded expectations. I highly recommend it to anyone considering a stay—you won’t be disappointed.
"Nice hotel and location"
As a Relais & Châteaux property with a Michelin-starred restaurant, expectations were naturally high. The welcome on arrival was friendly, and it was convenient to park directly on the hotel grounds. Our room, however—an attic room (505)—was a bit of a letdown, as it had no proper windows, only light from a skylight. Breakfast was excellent, with a generous buffet and à la carte options, and both the bed and bathroom were very comfortable. The location is superb, just a short walk to the Champs-Élysées. Dining was good, though not particularly memorable. As expected for Paris, it’s not a cheap stay, but overall, we enjoyed a pleasant few days at the hotel and in the city.
"The St. James in Paris is Truly EXCEPTIONAL!"
Paris is our favorite city in the world, and so much of that love comes from The St. James Hotel and its amazing staff. The property is simply exceptional—elegant, welcoming, and full of charm. We actually book our stay at The St. James before we even book our flights! It truly feels like our home in Paris.
"Class and finesse."
Though on the expensive side, this hotel is truly exceptional. The atmosphere is refined yet intimate, offering a peaceful retreat from the busy energy of Paris. The staff are warm, welcoming, and attentive, while the beautifully decorated rooms exude timeless Parisian charm. The outdoor terrace and the elegant Bibliothèque bar capture the spirit of Paris “à l’époque,” creating an ambiance that feels both cultured and authentic. A true home away from home for those who appreciate sophistication and tranquility.
"Pampered in Paris"
If you’re looking for a truly pampered stay in Paris, the St. James is the place to be. From the moment you’re met on the jet bridge and whisked through customs, every detail is handled with perfection. The spa is phenomenal, the meals are exceptional, and the staff are warm, professional, and genuinely caring. Its location is ideal—you can easily walk to nearby attractions or have the staff arrange seamless transportation. If you’re seeking genuine five-star service and value, look no further than the St. James Paris.
"Mostly very good"
An interesting alternative to the grand palace hotels of central Paris, this property stands gracefully in its own gardens in the 16th arrondissement. The freestanding building is beautiful, and the front-of-house and concierge team—especially Arnaud—were excellent. Our standard room was small but thoughtfully designed, well-equipped, and very comfortable. The handsome library bar serves delicious all-day food and inventive cocktails, though the champagne pours varied noticeably between guests. The restaurant Bellefeuille offers refined, creative cuisine with an impressive wine pairing, including intriguing options like French sake. Service was charming, though it was amusing to see the chef only emerge to greet a nearby celebrity. Unfortunately, our final impression was marred by confusion at check-out. The staff insisted that our “Gourmet Package” included breakfast for only one day, despite the rate clearly stating breakfast in the restaurant and one dinner during the stay. After some debate, the extra charge was waived, but it left us with a sense of disappointment. A beautiful hotel with much to admire—but attention to guest experience at the end of the stay is just as important as the welcome.
