"Relaxing stay at the Sala Chawing resort/Koh Samui"

We had a truly lovely time at the hotel. From the moment we arrived, the personal touches made our stay memorable—welcome drinks, refreshing amenities, choice of pillows and teas, and the thoughtful turndown service each evening. The staff were friendly and attentive without ever being overbearing. Although I initially had reservations about not staying in the beachside residences, they were completely unfounded. There’s a hidden, quiet pool just two minutes from our room—a charming little bonus we happily discovered. The hotel’s sushi restaurant was delightful, and the vanilla milkshake is an absolute must-try! Additionally, the nearby 7-11 was well stocked and very affordable. While we were only a 10–15 minute walk from the main strip, we actually appreciated the distance, as the area was fairly ordinary and not something we felt the need to explore. We also took part in the hotel’s cookery class, which was fantastic. A special mention goes to the General Manager, who was personable, helpful, and proactive. She offered excellent local tips, solved issues efficiently, and even took it upon herself to resolve a temporary decaf coffee problem for my husband. Her daily check-ins made us feel genuinely cared for—truly worth her weight in gold. Overall, this stay combined comfort, thoughtful service, and special touches that made our trip unforgettable.

"Disappointed"

We had a mixed experience during our 5-night stay. Our first room had an ant problem, and while the hotel initially offered a downgrade, they eventually provided a room of the same standard, which was fine. Breakfast was pleasant and staff were helpful, but service was slow and orders were often incorrect. At the beachside restaurant, my Caesar salad was inedible—the chicken was grisly and grey—though they removed it from the bill. The hotel itself is beautiful, but the overall experience wasn’t as relaxing as expected. The catering team could definitely improve to match the hotel’s high standards.

"Thailand round trip with bathing stay."

We stayed in the Oceanfront Garden Pool Suite and found the hotel pleasant with very polite and attentive staff. The room was comfortable, and the private pool was nice, although the view faced a wall of bamboo and street noise was noticeable—something that could be addressed more elegantly. Unfortunately, some other guests were disruptive, particularly those who were loud at the pool and on the beach, which impacted the peaceful atmosphere. The pools are rather small, making proper swimming a challenge, and while sea access is available, the water is shallow and filled with seagrass, limiting a true swimming experience unless you walk about 1.5 km. The private beach is also small, with limited loungers, meaning space feels tight and neighbors are often close by. Overall, the hotel offers good service and a comfortable stay, but the setting and amenities may feel restrictive if you are seeking a more expansive swimming or beach experience.

"Not the best for what we paid!"

This hotel is truly beautiful and luxurious, and it would’ve earned a 5-star rating for its aesthetics and comfort alone. Unfortunately, the service leaves much to be desired. Wall lizards were present in the rooms, including near the cabinets and coffee machine trays. The restaurant staff seemed unprepared and inexperienced—orders were repeatedly delayed or brought incorrectly, with multiple staff needing to intervene. Simple items, like eggs or English tea, were consistently mishandled, and our special breakfast orders arranged at check-in were often forgotten. The beachside restaurant also struggled with flies, ants, and mosquitoes, making the dining experience frustrating. On a positive note, the room service team was attentive and took great care of our needs. While the property is gorgeous, we may explore other options next time due to service inconsistencies.

"Great place to stay"

We had a wonderful stay at Sala Samui Chaweng Beach Resort. A special thanks to the entire staff, who were incredibly helpful, hardworking, and always greeted us with a smile. Our Oceanfront Balcony Pool Suite was very clean, spacious, and comfortable. The resort itself is beautifully maintained, and the restaurant tent offered a lovely dining experience. The GM, Erwin van der Veen, runs the resort exceptionally well, ensuring everything is seamless and enjoyable. Overall, a highly recommended stay for anyone visiting Koh Samui.

"Great breakfast"

The hotel boasts a fantastic location and an excellent breakfast buffet, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Our stay in a family-and-friends villa, however, was less impressive. The split-level layout placed the teenage bedroom on the lower floor, and the pool area felt somewhat claustrophobic due to the large white fence surrounding it. Overgrown gardens attracted many mosquitoes, and the bathroom showed signs of mold, with the toilet having a faint urine odor. Despite these issues, the beachfront is lovely, though the water is better further down toward Chaweng Central. The staff were welcoming and attentive, making us feel at home. While our stay was short—just one night—the property has potential if certain maintenance and design aspects are addressed.

"Awesome beachfront hotel!"

We loved our stay at Sala Samui Chaweng Beach Resort, an amazing beachfront hotel. Our room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable, with an incredible bed that ensured a great night’s sleep. Fon, our housekeeping attendant, was fantastic, and the front desk staff were friendly and extremely helpful. The food at the tent restaurant was delicious and a real highlight of our stay. The only downside was breakfast, which had limited options and slower service, so we skipped it a few days. Aside from that, everything else exceeded our expectations, and we would happily return for another stay!

"Good hotel with rough edges"

The Sala is a well-kept and modern hotel, though some areas are showing their age. The staff is friendly and attentive, making for a pleasant stay overall. We booked a SALA Oceanfront Pool Villa, which was comfortable, spacious, and had a lovely pool with overflow. The pool was great for swimming and relaxing, though the overflow stopped working after a few days, and there seemed to be limited regular maintenance. Breakfast in the “Tent” was a mixed experience. The buffet leans heavily toward European tastes, with Asian specialties like fried noodles largely absent. While you can order à la carte dishes, the staff often seemed overwhelmed, and popular items ran out quickly, leaving guests with limited options. The floating breakfast to our villa was a nice touch but mirrored the same limitations. Sun loungers were another challenge. By late morning, all loungers were occupied, and the pool area had little shaded seating. On our first day, we ended up getting badly sunburned trying to find shade. Minor conveniences, such as a make-up mirror, needed to be ordered via the hotel app, which became a bit intrusive with frequent notifications. On the positive side, the hotel is only about 10 minutes from Chaweng’s center, making it easy to explore local Asian cuisine in the evenings. Overall, the villa and property are lovely, but improvements in breakfast variety, sun loungers, and pool maintenance would make the stay even better. — Manuela and Fred

"It was a nice relax trip!"

We loved everything about our stay—the rooms, location, and service were excellent. However, the food was a letdown. We tried breakfast, lunch, and dinner at both on-site restaurants, and the dishes were bland with poor-quality ingredients and average presentation. For a 5-star hotel, the dining experience fell short and didn’t justify the price. The hotel has so much potential, and improving the food would make it truly exceptional.

"Beautiful hotel, clean, good breakfast, good service but the room service loses expensive items from the room"

The hotel is very beautiful and clean, with spacious and well-maintained rooms. Breakfast was good, and the service was generally friendly and attentive. However, our experience was marred by a serious issue with room service: they lost a valuable item, and the hotel’s response was limited to a simple apology without taking responsibility. This was extremely disappointing, especially given the cost of the item and the expectation of care at such a property. While the hotel has many positives, this incident significantly impacted our stay.
