"Room moving holiday in Kalkan."

We’ve stayed at this hotel four times before and generally enjoyed our visits. This time, however, we were given a ground floor room overlooking the pool—only to be told we'd need to move after three days because it was reserved for someone who couldn't use the stairs. Months prior, I had specifically requested not to be placed in a top-floor room due to the low balcony headroom, which had caused an injury before. Despite this, we were assigned the same problematic room again. The hotel attempted a fix by covering the low beam with pipe lagging, which felt like a temporary patch rather than a proper solution. To make things worse, several guests appeared to be shuffling between rooms, creating a sense of disorganization that felt quite unprofessional. There was no compensation for the inconvenience of moving or being placed in the wrong room initially. When I brought it up, the manager offered a complimentary bottle of wine, which was never delivered—and frankly, I didn’t bother following up. That said, the pool and restaurant staff were as fantastic as ever—especially Moomin, who was attentive and friendly. The lunch menu was excellent, and the hotel’s location remains one of the best in town. With better room allocation and communication, this hotel could truly shine.

"Poor service. Avoid"

I booked and paid in full back in November but had to cancel due to illness—well within the free cancellation period. Despite this, I’m still waiting for a refund. Emails to both the resort and Booking.com have gone unanswered. I’ve since opened a dispute with my credit card company just to try to recover my money. There has been no explanation, no update, and absolutely no customer service. At this point, I can only assume the delay is due to cashflow issues. Extremely disappointing and unprofessional. I strongly advise others to avoid this place.

"October Sun"

Stunning views, a great pool area, and helpful staff made for a very pleasant stay. The rooms are a bit dated and weren’t cleaned daily, but overall they were comfortable and functional. We went self-catering but did have lunch a couple of times at the poolside restaurant — it was decent. Taxis into town are inexpensive, around £3.50–£4, though it’s a pleasant 15-minute downhill walk (you’ll need to cross a motorway bridge). The return trip is quite steep, so a taxi back is a good idea. The weather in October was fantastic — sunny and around 24°C each day. There’s a wide variety of places to eat and drink in town, with food generally of excellent quality. Eating out is a bit pricey, likely catering to a specific market, but the hotel itself was great value for money.

"Brilliant. Immaculate, clean and the staff make it good. So friendly."

From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel like part of the family. The staff—especially Carlos and Amir—are outstanding, friendly, and genuinely welcoming. You can tell they care about creating a personal and memorable experience for every guest. The food is absolutely top-notch (don’t miss the Carlos special sea bass!), and the decor is stylish and high-quality. Its location is perfect—peaceful but still close to town and Kalkan’s fantastic restaurants. We were first-timers, but nearly everyone else we met had been returning for years—some up to 20! That alone speaks volumes. Whether you're dancing around the bar with the fun-loving team or just relaxing, this place delivers on every level. Highly recommended—we’ll definitely be back next year!

"Not what it once was!"

Having stayed at this hotel several times pre-COVID, we were really looking forward to coming back—but unfortunately, the experience fell well short of expectations. Upon arrival, we were told our room wasn’t ready. Despite booking and paying for a one-bedroom twin apartment, we were given a small studio with a double bed—completely unsuitable. There was no apology or explanation, just a take-it-or-leave-it attitude. After a frustrating day, we finally got the correct room, but only after dealing with unhelpful staff and poor attitude. Again, no apology was offered. The hotel itself is showing signs of wear—rooms look tired and in need of repainting, and service around the pool was virtually non-existent. It’s a real shame, as this used to be a lovely boutique hotel. Sadly, we won’t be returning.

"Hotel stay for a change"

My sister and I stayed at The Samira Exclusive through EasyJet Holidays, and while the hotel has many positives—like friendly staff, a clean environment, and a convenient location—we’ve realized we prefer self-catering apartments over hotel stays. Our rooms were very different in quality despite booking together. My room was spacious but noisy due to its location above the pool and bar area, where music and games continued late into the night. My sister was initially placed in a small attic room, but was later moved to a better (though dark) ground-floor apartment. Breakfast was decent and buffet-style, though repetitive after two weeks. Seating was often an issue, especially closer to 9:30, and we were asked to wait for tables to become available. The biggest downside was the sunbed situation. There weren’t enough for all guests, and they were packed so closely together it made relaxing uncomfortable. Long-time repeat guests seemed to receive preferential treatment with staff securing sunbeds for them. Overall, the hotel is fine for a short stay if you enjoy a traditional hotel setup, but next time we’ll stick with an apartment, which suits our needs much better.

"Sunbed wars"

Overall, this is a very lovely hotel with excellent staff—special mention to Zeki on reception, who was always helpful and welcoming. It would have easily been a 5-star experience if not for the complete lack of sunbed management. As others have mentioned, some guests were reserving multiple beds—both in the sun and shade—and then not using them for hours. By 8am, when breakfast begins, nearly every bed was already “claimed,” even though many weren’t used until much later in the day. The layout of the sunbed area also isn’t ideal, with beds packed far too close together and simply not enough of them for the number of guests. While it’s unfortunate that the staff need to step in, some kind of system or oversight is really needed. Many guests were clearly frustrated, and several said it was impacting their enjoyment of the holiday. That said, the hotel itself is clean, comfortable, and well-run with wonderful staff—which makes this issue all the more disappointing.

"While I would prefer not to leave a negative review I believe it’s important to express my concerns."

As returning guests to the Samira Exclusive Hotel, we had high expectations based on previous positive experiences. Unfortunately, our latest stay was a major disappointment and will be our last. We booked a superior room with a clear request for a ground-floor, poolside location. Instead, we were placed in Room 105 — a cramped second-floor unit at the back of the property. The space was tight enough that we could only open our suitcases on the bed, and the room felt more like a late-checkout holding area than a premium option in a so-called “exclusive” hotel. It was outdated, claustrophobic, and far from what we paid for. When we asked for a change, we were offered a slightly better room — but only if we paid an additional £205, plus £30 to use the in-room safe. After already being let down, these extra charges felt unjustified and frankly insulting. Breakfast was another letdown. The selection was uninspired and poorly maintained. In 40-degree heat, it was concerning to find all dairy items — milk, yogurt, etc. — left out in the open, unrefrigerated. These items were warm, and inedible, and this oversight raised real food safety concerns. The overall atmosphere also failed to deliver on the “exclusive” promise. Poolside music was excessively loud, diminishing any chance of relaxing. The early closure of the pool at 7:00 PM was restrictive, especially when many guests wanted to enjoy a quiet evening swim. Preferential treatment of regulars by the bar manager — including allowing them to reserve sunbeds for hours — further added to the imbalance and lack of fairness. Sadly, the Samira Exclusive has lost its charm. The room quality, service standards, and basic amenities fell well below our expectations this time. We won’t be returning, and we hope the hotel takes these issues seriously if they wish to maintain loyal guests in the future.

"A gem in Kalkan"

Just returned from the Samira Exclusive and couldn’t be happier with our stay. From the moment you arrive, you’re welcomed with genuine warmth by the entire team — everyone is so friendly and they even greet you by name each day, which adds such a personal touch. The cleanliness throughout the hotel is impeccable, honestly on par with or even exceeding many 5-star hotels. The beautiful fragrance in the air enhances the calm, luxurious feel of the place, and the food was absolutely delicious — fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. A huge thank you to everyone at this wonderful hotel. If you’re planning a stay, rest assured you won’t be disappointed.

"Avoid bed and breakfast option"

Stayed here for 10 days with my 14-year-old. We were in the hotel (not an apartment), and while some aspects were enjoyable, others left much to be desired. Upon arrival, we found two small complimentary water bottles on top of the fridge. Inside, however, all other drinks (soft drinks and beers) were chargeable. The resort has strict rules—no outside food or drink allowed in rooms or by the pool. If caught, they’ll confiscate items and return them at the end of your stay, which felt a bit overbearing. Instead of paying as you go, the resort delivers a receipt daily listing everything you consumed the previous day. It works, but it’s not for everyone. Breakfast was repetitive: cheese, ham, olives, cereals, some bread, jams, and occasional leftovers from dinner. What surprised me most—any drink with breakfast (even juice or coffee) came with an extra charge. I’ve never experienced a B&B where drinks weren’t included with breakfast. Lunchtime options were good and varied. Dinner, however, was rigid and uninspiring, with no flexibility on the menu. Rooms were cleaned daily, and tea/coffee supplies replenished. Staff were friendly and hardworking, which we really appreciated. The pool was clean, though the tiles kept coming loose, which made the surface uneven and a bit uncomfortable. A heads-up for future guests: unless you're quite fit, getting back from the harbour means a taxi—those hills are steep! Also, Wi-Fi only works in the reception area, and there’s not much to do for younger kids. Overall, I’d recommend this place for a quiet getaway with older children who can entertain themselves. Just be prepared for some quirks and limitations, especially regarding mobility and food rules.

"Beautiful Kalkan"

We stayed in a one-bedroom apartment with a side view of the bay and mountains. The staff and cleaners were fabulous — friendly and hardworking. However, our one real complaint was the bar manager. He was very loud and overly pushy, constantly asking if we wanted drinks, ice cream, etc. It made it hard to relax and enjoy a quiet conversation over a drink. The bar prices were also on the steep side, and we found his presence somewhat intimidating. Because of this, we may consider a more laid-back accommodation next time. Another frustration was the Wi-Fi — we could only get a connection in the corridor. We eventually ended up tapping into a local restaurant’s network across the road just to get Wi-Fi in the room, which really shouldn’t be necessary these days. Kalkan has definitely become more upmarket. The restaurants and food were fantastic, but we noticed for the first time that we were being pestered while passing by eateries — something that wasn’t an issue in the past. That said, the Old Street area was a lovely exception: no pushy restaurants, much cheaper, and very vibrant. Highly recommend checking it out. We also did a boat trip on the Falcon — absolutely fantastic. It was £30 per person, with a delicious lunch and fresh fruit served in the afternoon. A different class of experience. Despite a couple of hiccups, we’ll definitely be coming back to Kalkan.

"Kalkan apartments"

With a beautiful view overlooking the harbour, Samira is ideally located for those who don’t mind the walk down to town — though it may be challenging for guests with mobility issues. The town itself is stunning, full of charm and a lively holiday atmosphere. The hotel features a lovely pool, a good on-site restaurant, and truly fabulous staff — always friendly, welcoming, and helpful. I stayed in one of the self-catering apartments, which was conveniently situated near several supermarkets and restaurants. My only criticism is that the apartments, while functional, could really benefit from some modernisation. That said, if you find a good deal, Samira offers excellent value and is a great place to stay.
