"Infested, Dirty, and Poorly Managed — Avoid at All Costs"

If I could give this hotel zero stars, I would. Our bed was infested with bed bugs, ants crawled over our toiletries and luggage, and the toilet didn’t work. Hot water took 5–10 minutes, and we ran out of toilet paper within a night. Instead of addressing the insect problem, staff handed us spray to use. Getting a new room required persistent complaints, and the replacement was still dirty with uncleaned bathroom surfaces and smears on the wall. After more effort, we were begrudgingly handed $20 as “compensation.” The only positive is the location, but nothing else makes this stay worth it. 10/10 would not recommend.

"Great Location! Great Service!"

Sayacmarca Inn is a gem for its price point. I stayed two nights while visiting Machu Picchu and loved its location—just 100 meters from the city plaza, right next to the bus station for Machu Picchu, and a short walk to the artisan market, train station, restaurants, and shops. The hot springs are only about 400 meters away, perfect for relaxing after a long day. My room was comfortable and cozy with soothing river views—falling asleep to the sound of the water was a treat. While there’s no daily turndown service, fresh sheets and towels are available on request. Breakfast was a highlight, with fresh tropical fruit, bread, yogurt, juice, and delicious scrambled eggs. The staff were warm and helpful, offering great local tips despite a language barrier. For location, comfort, and value, this hotel is hard to beat—I’d definitely stay here again.

"Noisy Stay Despite Riverfront Balcony"

I booked a balcony room expecting to enjoy the sound of the river, but the reality was disappointing. The windows and doors didn’t close properly, making it feel like sleeping outdoors. Every bus loading for Machu Picchu, the train bell at the crossing, the trains themselves, and even conversations from people walking by were loud and clear—despite being on the 4th floor. If you’re a light sleeper or looking for peace and quiet, this is not the place. 10/10 do not recommend.

"Very basic."

This is a very basic hotel, and our stay was disappointing from the start. There’s no lift, which was never mentioned during booking or in prior reviews. We had to climb three flights of stairs with an elderly mom and two toddlers—very inconvenient. The check-in process was chaotic. The staff member seemed completely clueless and couldn’t explain the room rate breakdown, causing unnecessary confusion. We had also requested rooms side-by-side (clearly stated on the reservation form they showed us), but they ignored this when assigning rooms. Overall, the lack of transparency, poor service, and basic facilities made for a frustrating experience.

"Noisy, Dark, and No Hot Water"

We stayed in a first-floor room and it was very noisy due to the constant roar of the river—more like relentless white noise than something soothing. The room was dark, there was no filtered water available, and worst of all, no hot water for a shower. The only positive was the location—handy for catching the bus to Machu Picchu. Glad we were only here for one night.

"Great Value Stay with Perfect Location"

Sayacmarca Inn was an absolute gem for the price. I stayed two nights while visiting Machu Picchu and loved the location—just 100m from the main plaza, right next to the bus station, and within easy reach of the artisan market, train station, shops, and restaurants. The hot springs are only about a 400m walk away. My room was comfortable and homey with soothing river views. It was peaceful to fall asleep to the sound of the water. The only minor downside was no automatic turndown service for fresh sheets or towels, but the staff happily provided them on request. Breakfast was a highlight with fresh fruit, baked bread, yogurt, fresh-squeezed juice, and delicious scrambled eggs. The staff were very kind and helpful, even with a language barrier, offering great local tips for dining and shopping. Overall, an excellent stay and fantastic value. I’d definitely stay here again.

"Good Stay but No Hot Water"

Everything about the stay was good—comfortable room, decent facilities, and a pleasant experience overall. However, there was no hot water available for the shower, which was disappointing.

"Great Location and Service, But No Hot Water"

The room was sufficient for our needs and the location is excellent. Staff were attentive, provided good service, and offered luggage storage. However, the balcony door couldn’t be locked, and in my case, there was never any hot water. Aside from that, everything else was very good and I would recommend it.

"Average Stay With Open Windows and Noise"

It was an okay night’s sleep. As others have mentioned, the windows don’t close, so it feels like you’re sleeping outside in terms of noise and temperature. Fortunately, it wasn’t cold during my stay, but the constant noise could be an issue for some.

"Terrible Stay With Multiple Issues"

Disastrous experience: the room had a strong smell that gave us a headache, windows were not sealed against noise or cold, and there was no hot water in the shower. The TV didn’t work, and breakfast was awful—scrambled eggs with mold, plus inedible ham and cheese. To top it off, there was construction noise at 3 a.m., and guests arriving at 5 a.m. rang the bell, waking everyone up.

"Convenient Location With Minor Service Issue"

The bus station to Machu Picchu was right outside, which was perfect for catching the first bus at 5:20 AM. The room was nothing special but comfortable, with a good bed, plenty of hot water, and even a bathtub. Breakfast was supposed to start at 5:00 AM with a packed option for early departures, but no one was there the next morning due to a staff member oversleeping. We had to buy breakfast on the street, though they later apologized and gave us a discount after we spoke with the manager. The following day, we enjoyed a spacious, clean breakfast room with a great selection. Overall, a great hotel despite the hiccup.

Sayacmarca Classic Inn

Very good value (~USD 60/night), comfortable and close to the town’s amenities. Guests praised the service and restful environment beside the river.
