"Overpriced and Uncomfortable Experience – Far from Passenger Friendly"
Honestly, the prices are outrageous — among the highest I’ve seen anywhere. Even after paying for a ticket, you might have to stand, and if you try to sit in first class, you’ll be told to pay extra. In many stations, there’s nowhere comfortable to sit or wait for your train, and during cold or windy weather, that’s a real problem. Some waiting areas close early, around 9 or 10 PM, and sometimes remain shut all day, leaving passengers stranded if they miss their last train. The company feels more focused on profit than on passengers. The staff, especially ticket inspectors, seem to treat people without tickets like criminals rather than customers. It’s a disappointing, expensive, and inhumane approach to public transport. Honestly, if you can, take a car instead — it’s cheaper, more comfortable, and ironically, probably more sustainable.
"Functional but Nothing Special"
Only worth visiting if you need to catch a train — there’s really no other reason to go. It serves its purpose as a transport hub, but there’s nothing appealing or noteworthy beyond that.
"Frustrating Experience and Poor Service"
The station is poorly signed — I ended up helping several confused travelers find their way while waiting. My wait was forced because the cashier refused to sell me a ticket for a train that was about to depart, even though I couldn’t buy it from the kiosk since it was an international route. She insisted I just board and pay a hefty €65 penalty instead. Despite my attempts to reason with her, she kept repeating, “It’s just one more hour,” as if my time didn’t matter. I missed the train by less than two minutes. Tickets are refundable, so the refusal made no sense. Very disappointing and unprofessional service.
"Convenient Transfer Hub"
A great and practical station, especially for travelers transferring from plane to train. It makes connecting between air and rail transport smooth and efficient.
"Uncomfortable Temperature Control on Trains"
Every summer trip feels the same — it’s unbearably hot during the day with no proper air conditioning, and then freezing cold at night. The lack of consistent temperature control makes the journey really uncomfortable.
"Convenient Location but Poor Accessibility"
The station is great for reaching the town centre, but the drop from the platform to the train is nearly a metre — extremely difficult to manage with a buggy or luggage. For disabled passengers, it’s hard to imagine how they could board safely. Accessibility definitely needs improvement.
"Automatic Renewal Cancellation Failed – Nightmare Experience"
I visited in August 2020 to cancel the automatic renewal of my SBB half-fare subscription. The staff at the counter scanned my SwissPass and verbally confirmed, “OK, it is cancelled,” but did not provide any written receipt. A year later, I was contacted by a collections agency demanding 353.10 CHF. It turns out the renewal was never actually cancelled, and now I owe the full year’s cost plus hefty collection fees. What’s worse, it has been impossible to reach anyone at SBB to resolve this issue. A simple cancellation turned into a frustrating and costly nightmare.
