"Comfortable and Friendly Hotel, but Quiet Location"
My friend and I, both in our early 60s, stayed here for 10 nights in early July, booking through TUI. We were warmly welcomed at reception around 1 p.m., offered a glass of Prosecco, and our room was ready; the porter took our bags, making check-in smooth and easy. The sunbeds around the pool were the most comfortable I have ever experienced—wide with thick padding—but many of the prime spots were reserved early with towels, and access to the pool didn’t begin until 9 a.m., resulting in a bit of a mad rush for the best positions. The hotel’s beach had beds with windbreaks, though it is mostly volcanic rock with some sand, and you need to use the pontoon to enter the water. We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis, and breakfast offered a good choice, though much of the food wasn’t very hot, so I often opted for fruit or the cold buffet. We also dined in the buffet three evenings, which was very enjoyable, averaging around £35 per person. Drinks were not included, with a gin and tonic costing £11 and a bottle of wine around £24, though staff were friendly and went above and beyond. Our room was spacious and well-equipped with a fridge stocked with drinks, a kettle, and coffee machine. The air conditioning worked well, and there was ample storage and dressing space, though the large dressing table had no mirror above it. The queen-size bed was comfortable and the patio had ample seating. The bathroom was open-plan with ‘his’ and ‘her’ sinks and a glass door to the toilet and shower—something to note if you value privacy from a roommate. Entertainment was low-key, featuring a few singers on guitar and one evening a Spanish performer. Overall, the hotel is lovely—very clean, with friendly staff, great food, and attractive outdoor spaces. However, the location is quiet, with few nearby shops, restaurants, or bars. The Corralejo Strip is about a 20-minute walk, and the Campanero Centre, with some restaurants, bars, shops, and a supermarket, is roughly 15 minutes away. The beach itself isn’t particularly scenic, and the hotel is surrounded by derelict or abandoned buildings. While it was an expensive holiday (£1,200 for bed and breakfast from Gatwick with TUI), it is a beautiful hotel that many guests return to.
"Almost across the board disappointing"
This hotel, officially rated 5+ stars, unfortunately fell far below expectations, especially after an excellent week on the neighboring island of Lanzarote. The location is a major drawback—situated amidst deteriorated tourist ruins that significantly detract from the surroundings. The nearby beach is poorly maintained, unsuitable for swimming, and the two access bridges to the sea were closed all week. Paths leading to the sandy beach about 30 minutes east or to the town center are also in poor condition, poorly lit, and difficult to navigate for older guests, making a visit to the charming Corralejo area essentially only possible by taxi. The hotel’s in-house dining options are equally frustrating. Reservations are required days in advance, many restaurants are rarely open, and staff rotate between venues, seemingly saving on personnel at the expense of guests’ convenience. The only bright spot is the generally friendly and accommodating staff. Overall, however, this property fails to meet the standards expected from a Hyatt Group hotel and left us disappointed.
"Excellent hotel and amazing staff"
This hotel is excellent, featuring wonderful facilities and incredibly friendly staff. They go above and beyond to create memorable experiences—our stay included a special celebration for my partner’s birthday, and the staff made it truly unforgettable. The hotel also offers highly recommended excursion providers at reasonable prices, so it’s worth checking with them first. The property itself is gorgeous, with plenty of loungers by both the pool and the beach—a very pleasant surprise. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable stay.
"Great food and relaxing holiday"
We wanted a week to mostly relax at the resort, and it certainly delivers in terms of convenience and dining options. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from, and the food was consistently very good—especially the sushi, which was outstanding. However, the servers were not always the friendliest. The rooms and bathrooms are spacious and comfortable. One thing to note is the early rush for poolside loungers at 9:00 a.m.—something you might not expect from a 5-star hotel, but arriving early helps secure a good spot. The hotel beach is not ideal for swimming, but amazing beaches are about a 30-minute walk away. One downside is that only one bar is open in the evenings, which is a bit limiting for a hotel of this size if you’re staying a full week and hoping for variety.
"Lovely staff nice big room But….."
The hotel itself is very nice, and the staff are friendly and helpful. We upgraded to the preferred rate (but not the room) and found it not worth the money at all. The preferred lounge was very underwhelming, offering just a small plate of pastries, coffee, and water—no soft drinks, flavored water, or other snacks. The only other perk was a slightly roped-off section in the dining room with an eggs menu. We paid an extra £500 for this, which felt excessive. Bars had very limited options for diet or light drinks, and no ice cream was available outside of the evening meal in the dining room. Beach bar slush machines were rarely filled, and lunchtime options were limited to a club sandwich with very crispy bacon. Evening entertainment was poor, and the surrounding area has abandoned or vandalized buildings, with shops at least a 20-minute walk or €5 taxi ride away. Food in the main buffet was okay, though English options were limited for picky eaters. WiFi throughout the hotel and in the room was abysmal—we couldn’t access the BBC News channel all week, and reporting it received no response. Our room (104, Deluxe Junior Suite Sea View) was nice, with a huge bed and a lovely maid, though the step down to the seating area and patio could be a concern for guests with mobility issues.
"Think twice if booking all inclusive"
Overall, the hotel is nice, but it does not live up to a 5-star rating. The entertainment is poor and repetitive, usually held in the lobby with loud music that makes conversation difficult. While the hotel advertises several restaurants, only two are open at a time, including the buffets. The food is generally good, though the buffet can be repetitive, and we particularly enjoyed Olio and the Italian restaurant. The rooms are clean and spacious, and the spa and gym are nice, but the WiFi is very poor. As all-inclusive guests, getting a drink was often difficult—the staff take orders at the table, but drinks frequently didn’t arrive. Half-board guests paying for drinks seem to receive better service, and poolside service is even worse. The dress code is inconsistent and confusing: men are required to wear long trousers, yet some guests in casual joggers and hoodies were allowed. Towels are often left to reserve sunbeds, and enforcement appears lax. A concerning hygiene incident occurred when a bird sat on bread in the buffet, leaving droppings, which were not removed by staff. While the hotel is relaxing, the combination of poor entertainment, inconsistent service, and limited restaurant availability means it falls short of true 5-star standards. There are better options for a main holiday stay, though it remains suitable for a calm and leisurely visit.
"Fantastic Service and Food, but Low-Key Evening Entertainment"
This is an excellent hotel with outstanding staff who go above and beyond—no request was too much for them. We had no issues securing a sunbed, and there was no mad early-morning rush. The hotel’s location allows for pleasant walks along the beach to lovely sandy areas. The food was superb, particularly for someone on a gluten-free diet; I was impressed to find gluten-free beer stocked in the mini-fridge. The à la carte restaurants were enjoyable, though only two of the five are open at any one time. Lunch was excellent, but with just one standard restaurant open and another over the sea a few days a week, meals did get a bit repetitive. The rooms are spacious and well-equipped, and the ocean view is definitely worth getting. The spa and gym facilities are also very good. The only drawback was the evening entertainment, which is low-key and better suited to city hotels where guests stay only briefly. While the singers were talented, by the third night we preferred retreating to our balcony or venturing into town (a 20-minute walk or €5 taxi). This is the main reason we rated the hotel 4 stars instead of 5 (I’d give it 4.5 if possible). Overall, we would highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Fuerteventura.
"Do not go to hotel where they allow smoking"
We’re only halfway through our holiday, but it’s clear that the hotel’s no-smoking rules are not properly enforced. Our room opens directly onto the area in front of the restaurant where guests are allowed to smoke, so every time we open the door, we get a strong whiff of cigarette smoke. Even sitting on our balcony enjoying a drink, guests above us started smoking, which made it difficult to relax.
"It’s not all gold that shines."
The sea view from the room is truly beautiful! However, the beach, full of stones, is not suitable for swimming. The hotel feels a bit dated, and the rooms reflect that with somewhat outdated decor and cleanliness that leaves room for improvement. In the bathroom, the joints around the bidet were crumbling. The beach chairs are hard and uncomfortable, far from a 5-star standard, though the pool chairs are slightly better.
"Worthy of its 5*"
We booked a winter escape via BA to this resort based purely on the hotel reviews, as we usually avoid the north of the island. (Tomorrow we’re taking the ferry to Lanzarote, Playa Blanca, to explore the south since it’s just 30 minutes away!) Arrival: From the airport, we took a taxi, which took about 30–35 minutes and cost around €40. Upon arrival at this wonderful 5-star hotel, we were greeted warmly by the reception staff and a porter, each of us offered a glass of bubbly while completing check-in. The porter then took our luggage and showed us to our room—a great start to our stay! Room (292 – Standard Junior Suite): I was pleasantly surprised by the size of our room, bathroom, bed, and balcony—absolutely massive, easily the biggest room we’ve ever stayed in. The sea view overlooks the port and the hotel’s manicured gardens, giving a quiet, private feel. Our room is at the end near the lifts, so we only have rooms on one side, which is perfect. Afternoon sun on the balcony makes for relaxing coffee moments, with a coffee machine, kettle, and variety of T-bags provided. Bathroom: Very spacious with a separate toilet and bidet behind a frosted glass sliding door. Huge bath, powerful shower, and wonderful smelling toiletries complete the experience. Restaurants & Food: The Market Place breakfast hall is massive, with an alfresco-style garden area at the back. Food is abundant, freshly replenished, and there’s an incredible variety. Theme nights are also available. We tried the Italian and Japanese on-site restaurants—they were exceptional and reasonably priced. The bed is massive (two singles that can form a king-size), with extremely soft sheets and comfy pillows—pure sleep heaven. Housekeeping is impeccable, keeping rooms spotless with daily towel replenishments. Pools & Grounds: There are three beautiful pools (one heated, one regular, and a small circular one ideal for reading and cooling off). Surrounding areas are immaculate with palm trees for shade, lush plants, and small birds adding tranquil background sounds. Beach: Sun loungers with windbreakers are provided free for guests. The beach is rocky, but a long jetty allows safe sea access. Be cautious on the slippery steps; a lifeguard is present, though improvements could be made for safety. Summary: This is a fantastic, clean, and welcoming hotel with amazing restaurants, abundant food variety, and extremely hardworking, friendly staff at every level. It fully lives up to its 5-star rating. While the surrounding resort is a bit run-down, the hotel itself is by far the largest and best we’ve ever stayed in. We would definitely consider returning—a rare compliment from us. Thank you to all the staff for making our stay so memorable! Janet & Andy Room 292
"Good overall"
There’s no denying this is a stunning hotel, but having stayed here around 5–6 times, we’ve noticed a gradual reduction in amenities since Hyatt took over. For example, Bali beds are no longer included in the preferred rate, which now feels hardly worth the extra cost. Paying an additional €60 per day for a Bali bed seems excessive, especially as staff in that area are also assigned to the restaurant, meaning service can be slow. The food remains excellent, but some advertised perks, like frozen cocktails, have been unavailable for months due to a broken machine. Entertainment is also underwhelming. While the hotel itself is beautiful, the current offering feels expensive compared to what’s included, and unless you can book on a special offer, the value is disappointing.
"A la carte restaurant"
According to the hotel’s website and catalogues, guests are supposed to have a choice of a buffet restaurant and four à la carte restaurants. However, during our stay, only the buffet and one à la carte restaurant were open, with the other three closed every night. With all guests trying to book the single available à la carte restaurant, we were unable to get a reservation. Having stayed at several other Secrets hotels, this limitation significantly spoiled our holiday experience.
