"A serious hygiene problem in the restaurant! FLIES & COCKROACHES"
We stayed here from 3rd–10th August 2025. Overall, the hotel is nice, and the room was lovely, though it had no bathroom door, which was inconvenient and frustrating. The grounds are pleasant, and the beach is right in front of the hotel. However, the restaurant has a serious hygiene problem. Flies were everywhere, crawling over all the food, which was left uncovered. While eating, we constantly had to wave our hands to keep flies off our plates. Because cold dishes were contaminated, we were limited to hot food, which greatly reduced our options. We also saw cockroaches near the toilets by the kitchen, suggesting the issue may extend to the kitchen itself. It’s baffling that hotel management has not addressed these problems, especially since flies were nowhere else on the property. Sadly, due to these serious hygiene concerns, we are unlikely to return.
"Disappointing Experience – Not Five Star"
This hotel is not a five-star property, and unfortunately, it did not meet our expectations. Rooms & Noise: The rooms are a good size, but their proximity to the piano bar (due to the U-shaped layout) means nightly music until 11:30 pm, which is far from ideal for families with children. The pool area is also noisy, with loud activity music from noon, giving a more 2–3 star vibe rather than the luxury experience advertised. Food & Hygiene: The buffet is mediocre at best, with flies on the food and cross-contamination concerns. Specialty restaurants like Wok and Zen were disappointing; sushi and fish were tough and seemed pre-prepared. Half-board bookings do not include water or soft drinks with evening meals, which quickly adds to costs. Staff & Service: Service was inconsistent. Apart from one waitress, staff were generally unhelpful or inattentive, both at the bar and reception. Requests, such as clarification on half-board inclusions, were ignored or left unresolved. Value for Money: For a family of five, we paid over £6,500 during school holidays. Comparable quality holidays elsewhere (e.g., Menorca last year) cost significantly less. The price does not match the service, food, or facilities provided. Overall, we would not return and cannot recommend this hotel for families seeking a true five-star experience.
"Sadly the best on the island"
I’ve stayed in various hotels across this island, and despite this property being very outdated, with terrible food and barely edible breakfasts compared to its 5-star counterparts in Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, and Tenerife, it remains one of the best options on this grossly underdeveloped island in terms of decent hotels. Cleanliness is often praised here, but it’s only partially true. Rooms are “cleaned” superficially — floors are just moistened, carpets are sandy, and vacuum cleaners seem to be a rarity. The gardens are well maintained, which is a clear positive, but corridors and carpets are outdated enough to make one wonder if the hotel was built decades ago (it was actually built in 2006). Service is inconsistent: some staff are attentive and caring, while others appear focused solely on finishing their shifts. The breakfast buffet is boring and disappointing, with overcooked sausages, hard waffles, tasteless tomatoes, and no poached eggs. Iberico ham and cheese are poor in quality despite Spain producing excellent varieties, and the kitchen staff lacks imagination and skill. Still, it is slightly better than other options on the island. This is clearly not a 5-star hotel. The price is lower than destinations like Algarve or Dubai, which attracts guests with lower expectations, sometimes affecting the atmosphere. Common areas like the kids’ pool can become crowded and chaotic, with insufficient supervision. Many of these issues could be resolved with a full renovation, a modest price increase, and a more selective approach to bookings.
"Excellent"
Our room had breathtaking sea views – absolutely a must! The breakfast was excellent, and the staff were friendly and welcoming, making our stay even more enjoyable. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a relaxing and scenic getaway.
"Currently here"
Currently staying at the Sheraton and wanted to share my thoughts. Contrary to some recent reviews, we’ve hardly seen any flies in the restaurant while eating both breakfast and dinner—just the occasional one, which is expected in a warm climate. The hotel itself is slightly old-fashioned, but that gives it a charming character rather than being a negative. The grounds are well-kept, and there are plenty of sunbeds available in the morning, though it can be frustrating when some guests reserve beds and don’t return. We do agree that for the price, water should be included with the evening meals, but overall, it’s a lovely hotel with friendly staff and a pleasant stay.
"Lovely Hotel, But Sea Water Ruined by Sewage"
The hotel itself is lovely, with attentive service and a beautiful setting. The beach looks fantastic and would normally be a highlight. Unfortunately, the sea water was very disappointing — it had a strong sewage odor due to nearby water discharge, which made swimming unpleasant.
"Great location, hotel appropriate for 4*"
We visited the hotel as a family of four in July/August. Jet2 had informed us before the trip that the hotel had been downgraded from 5* to 4* and offered us the option to change. As changing dates wasn’t convenient, we decided to take our chances. On the whole, the hotel was very good, but it clearly needs an overhaul, which explains the star rating change. The rooms were spacious and well maintained, and the public areas were clean and tidy. Service was generally good, though a little inconsistent at times. The food was a bit “hit and miss.” Some mornings, the buffet breakfast was excellent, while on other days it was harder to find what we wanted. The same applied to the evening meals – quality was variable, and service fluctuated. The nearby town was within easy walking distance and offered some great bars and restaurants, which were better value for those on B&B. Hiring electric scooters was fun for our teenagers, and the area around the hotel was super clean. The rugged beaches were beautiful, and local shops and shopping centres were immaculate and well-stocked. The biggest disappointment was the competition for sunbeds. There simply weren’t enough, so lying in the shade was impossible if you didn’t grab one early – by 7:30am, spots were gone. In summary, we loved the location. With some updates to the hotel, we would definitely return.
"Mixed feelings"
This was our second stay at the Sheraton, having previously visited in July 2024. Overall, it was a lovely holiday, but we did notice that some standards have slipped, and improvements are needed. Check-in was fantastic. Carlos at reception remembered us instantly, making the process swift and seamless. The welcome drinks, along with cava, kids’ drinks, and chocolates in our room, were a thoughtful gesture. Carlos even rang our room to check if we were settled, which made us feel genuinely cared for.
"A pleasant experience in Fuerteventura!"
We paid for an upgraded room, but the water boiler and hairdryer didn’t work initially. They were replaced quickly, yet it felt below the usual Marriott/Sheraton standards and was a bit disappointing given the upgrade. On the positive side, the staff were very friendly and courteous, especially the restaurant team. The buffet was excellent with lots of choices, and the evening entertainment was enjoyable.
"Too bad."
I spent a week at this property with my husband and, to be honest, we were not very enthusiastic about our stay. The room was spacious, quiet, and clean, although a bit dated. Breakfast was good, but dinner was a disappointment. The buffet opened at 7 p.m., and by around 8:30 p.m., the food presentation had deteriorated, with flies on the plates — definitely unappetizing. It’s a shame, as a name like Sheraton should guarantee a consistently high standard.
"Lovely hotel, however would not return"
We’ve just returned from a 10-night stay at the Sheraton with 7 adults, a 5-year-old, and a baby, and wanted to share our experience. The hotel itself is very beautiful, with a fantastic layout, great pools, and a convenient location. That said, the property is looking quite tired — cracked tiles, worn carpets, and some shower fittings hanging off walls. On the plus side, most of the pool sunbeds were replaced during our stay, which made them far more comfortable! A downside: there are a LOT of flies, both at the poolside and in the restaurant. Breakfast and pool bar meals were consistently good, with a wide variety of cooked foods, fruits, pastries, and cereals. The staff were all exceptionally friendly, accommodating, and especially considerate towards our children, which was a huge stress relief. The hotel felt very quiet, lacking a typical “holiday atmosphere.” At times, some guests seemed to look down on families with children, which made us feel a bit uncomfortable, although this may have been because the hotel was only half full. Meals out in the town were enjoyable but again lacked a lively holiday vibe. That said, the hotel did something very special for us — my sister got engaged during the trip with the hotel’s assistance, which was a thoughtful touch. There were also issues with the outdated room billing system. Food was accidentally added to our room from other guests, and there was no key card system — just stating your room number and signing a receipt. Thankfully, the charges were removed without issue. Overall, we still had a great holiday, but this will probably be our last visit to this area of the island.
"Ideal for rest and discover Fuerteventura"
Extremely hospitable and helpful staff – truly the best part of our stay! The rooms are spacious and offer spectacular views, making this Sheraton my favorite.
