"Late night flight to Sydney on the A380"
Lounge: As previously noted in another review, the Business Class SilverKris Lounge continues to fall short of expectations. Even after two years, recurring issues remain—insufficient seating, frequent overcrowding, lackluster food and drink selections, unhygienic restrooms, and no dedicated luggage storage. For a flagship lounge, these shortcomings are disappointing. Security: This time around, security at Changi was noticeably smoother, especially around the 'A' gates cluster (A1–A8) where multiple screening points managed the passenger flow more effectively. However, I still dislike the boarding gate-style security screening, and likely always will—it's a frustrating aspect of an otherwise excellent airport. Boarding: Boarding was organized and efficient, with priority access clearly observed and well-managed. Cabin / Seats: Onboard the A380, the 1-2-1 Business Class configuration offers generous, comfortable seating. Unfortunately, a technical glitch with my seat controls meant the crew had to reset the unit via a master switch under the seat. Thankfully, the issue was resolved without further disruption—especially important since the cabin was fully booked. Service: The flight attendants were top-notch—extremely courteous, attentive, and professional throughout the flight. A special touch was the birthday surprise arranged just before landing, which added a meaningful and memorable note to the experience. Food & Beverage: We had made our selections in advance through 'Book the Cook', and while nothing was extraordinary, the meals were pleasant and met expectations.
"Last Minute Economy flight booking to Istanbul a nice surprise"
With a last-minute booking the day before on a 99% full flight, I managed to secure an Economy seat in row 41. Not ideal for an 11-hour journey, especially with no chance of an upgrade—neither through points nor payment—as both Business and Premium Economy were completely booked. So, I mentally prepared myself for an overnight flight in Economy. Thanks to my Elite Gold KrisFlyer status, I still enjoyed priority check-in, priority luggage handling, and lounge access. Even at midnight, the lounge was lively—I grabbed a bite and relaxed with a drink before boarding. Check-in was seamless, and once onboard, I was greeted with the signature warm welcome from the Singapore Airlines crew—something that never gets old, regardless of which cabin you’re in. Their professionalism and friendliness truly stand out. As for the flight itself, the seat in the first row of Economy turned out to be surprisingly comfortable with plenty of legroom. I even managed to sleep for about 7 hours, which is quite rare for me on long-haul flights. The flight was smooth and arrived on time in Istanbul. The only letdown? The meals. Both the dinner and breakfast were very ordinary, and I couldn’t finish either. Admittedly, I may have been spoiled by previous experiences in the front of the plane, but the food just didn’t meet expectations. Overall, a strong Economy experience with fantastic crew and great comfort—just a shame about the meals.
"Modern Air Travel with Old Fashioned Class"
Having recently returned from a trip to Australia, I must say I was genuinely impressed with Singapore Airlines. From start to finish, the experience was seamless. Both the ground staff and cabin crew were professional, polite, and incredibly helpful. Their uniforms are stunning, and the crew presents themselves with such elegance — both male and female. We took several long flights: Heathrow to Singapore, then on to Adelaide, and on the return leg from Sydney to Singapore, and finally back to Heathrow. Every flight was fully booked, so there were no free seats to stretch out, but even in economy, the seats were comfortable with good legroom. Blankets, pillows, and other amenities were provided. The onboard meals and snacks were delicious. While the movie selection didn’t quite match my personal taste, I recognize that it’s subjective. The bathrooms were also well-maintained throughout the flights and included thoughtful touches like toothbrushes, toothpaste, and other toiletries to help passengers feel fresh. It’s easy to see why Singapore Airlines has won so many awards. My husband and I were initially dreading the long-haul journey, but they made it entirely doable — even enjoyable. We would definitely fly with them again. Thank you, Singapore Airlines!
"Average"
I was lucky enough to travel Business Class recently and had been looking forward to it. Here are my impressions: The seats were comfortable enough, but you had to sit at an angle to stretch out, which felt a bit awkward. Even more surprising was that the seats didn’t appear to lie fully flat — at least not on the first leg. I only found out on the second leg that they did when the steward offered to make up my bed. That was exactly what I had needed earlier, and frankly, I was pretty peeved no one offered that option before. The food was okay, nothing special, and certainly not what you’d expect from a premium cabin. The service was efficient but felt impersonal, lacking that extra touch that makes you feel genuinely taken care of. Compared to other airlines I’ve flown in Business Class — like Air New Zealand or Emirates — this didn’t come close. Sadly, I won’t be flying with them again.
"SQ …..now ORDINARY"
Watch Out Before Booking Singapore Airlines on This Route! As someone who regularly flies to various Asian destinations from Australia, I have to say—Singapore Airlines’ Economy Class on the Brisbane route has become very underwhelming. Sadly, they seem to have lost their edge. From staff engagement and in-flight service to the aircraft itself, everything felt subpar—especially when compared to other airlines on similar routes. Shockingly, even low-cost carriers like VietJet managed to deliver a better overall experience. For what used to be a reliable premium airline, this was quite a letdown. I’d recommend exploring alternatives before committing to SQ on this route.
"Nothing has changed with SQ – still consistently the best service"
I’ve flown with Singapore Airlines several times over the past decade, but this was my first time in economy class in a while. Despite the expected differences from Premium Economy or Business, the service remained top notch. The food was great, and there was a good selection of entertainment available. What truly stood out, though, was the personal attention from the flight crew — their service is second to none. I honestly wish other airlines (ahem… QF) would take note.
"No assistance despite request; chaotic transit with terminal change—avoid Singapore Airlines short layovers"
⚠️ Warning for Travelers – Avoid Singapore Airlines Short Layovers (Delhi–Singapore–Bali Route) I had a deeply disappointing experience with Singapore Airlines during my recent trip from Delhi to Denpasar (Bali) via Singapore. Despite requesting special assistance well in advance — and confirming it both by email and again at check-in — no assistance was provided during the critical transit at Changi Airport. The staff later claimed that the assistance request was only logged for my final arrival in Delhi, not for the layover in Singapore, which is precisely when it was most needed. This reflects a serious lapse in coordination and a clear failure in customer care. At Changi, I was left completely on my own to manage a terminal change and navigate one of the world’s largest airports with very limited time. I barely made it to my connecting flight. I submitted a formal complaint, but no corrective action was taken. To my dismay, I faced the exact same issue on the return journey — no assistance again. If you're traveling with elderly family members, small children, or anyone with mobility needs, do not rely on Singapore Airlines' promises. My strong advice: avoid booking short layovers with Singapore Airlines, especially on the Delhi–Singapore–Denpasar route. Even confirmed assistance cannot be trusted. Double-check every detail — and be prepared to manage everything on your own.
"Short and Great flight"
Check-in at Changi Airport Terminal 2 was smooth, with self-service kiosks in Row 5 and limited manned counters in Row 4 for Economy Class. Onboard, the cabin crew delivered excellent service, warmly welcoming us and doing their best to serve everyone despite the short flight time. They were cheerful, helpful, and even assisted with stowing carry-on bags. The Economy cabin felt bright and spacious, with white bulkheads, large windows, and blue mood lighting that gave a refreshed look. The 3-3 seat layout offered decent comfort, with 30" pitch, 17" width, and supportive padding. Lavatories were clean but compact and a bit dated in appearance. Entertainment was limited to magazines as the aircraft lacks personal screens, which wasn’t an issue for the 45-minute flight. Refreshments included juice, water, or coffee/tea, which was sufficient given the flight duration.
"Excellent flight and service"
Safe, Comfortable, and Exceptionally Pleasant Excellent service from the crew—every member was friendly, helpful, and professional. Their warm attitude really made the journey a joy. The flight was smooth, safe, and comfortable, exactly what you'd hope for when flying. A big thank you to the team at Singapore Airlines for delivering such a great experience. Already looking forward to my next flight with you!
"Late night flight to Sydney on the A380"
Lounge: As noted in a previous review, the Business Class SilverKris Lounge still leaves much to be desired. Limited seating, frequent overcrowding, underwhelming food and beverage options, unhygienic washrooms, and no dedicated luggage storage continue to be persistent issues—even after two years. Security: This time, the security process at Changi was relatively smoother than previous experiences, thanks to the multiple checkpoints around the A1–A8 gates handling the passenger flow well. That said, I’ve never been a fan of gate-side security checks, and that hasn’t changed. Boarding: The boarding process was efficient, with proper enforcement of priority boarding protocols. Cabin & Seats: Onboard the A380, the 1-2-1 business class layout offers spacious and plush seating. Unfortunately, I encountered a glitch in my seat's control panel that required a full reset using a master switch located under the seat. Thankfully, the crew resolved it swiftly, and despite the cabin being fully booked, the issue didn’t escalate. Service: Outstanding service from the Singapore Airlines crew—as always. Polite, professional, and attentive throughout. They even arranged a thoughtful birthday surprise just before landing, which made the journey even more memorable. Food & Beverage: We opted for 'Book the Cook' and were satisfied with all the pre-selected meal options.
"Flying high"
Still My First Choice – A Class Act All the Way Singapore Airlines continues to impress. From comfortable seats to truly exceptional service, this is a class airline in every sense. The cabin crew deserve a solid 10/10—professional, warm, and attentive throughout the flight. I pre-booked my meal in advance, and the food did not disappoint. Enjoying an iconic Singapore Sling at cruising altitude, paired with a selection of quality wines, made the experience even more enjoyable. The flight was on time, smooth, and overall very well managed. If I had one minor quibble, it would be that the fare is slightly on the high side—but honestly, for the level of comfort and consistency, it still represents great value. Singapore Airlines remains my first choice on this route—and likely will be for a long time to come.
