"Relaxing Spa Day"
I recently tried the detox program at this spa for €350, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The program included a wellness screening, a private fitness class, 90 minutes in the Roman baths, and a 60-minute hammam session. The wellness screening was fascinating—a non-invasive electronic test using plates to measure biometrics like cardiovascular health, circulation, stress, and immunity. It was insightful to see my health profile and learn I need to focus on managing cortisol levels. Following the screening, I opted for the private fitness class, which was tailored to my goals and a perfect mix of strength and cardio. The Roman baths were clean, luxurious, and wonderfully relaxing, with time spent in saunas, steam rooms, and hydrotherapy pools. The hammam at the end, which included a body scrub, was incredibly soothing and eased all my muscle tension. The experience concluded with a detox juice and some quiet time in the lounge. I spent around five hours in total and left feeling completely relaxed and rejuvenated. The staff were warm, professional, and attentive throughout, and I appreciated that tipping isn’t required, unlike in the U.S. Overall, this spa experience was a perfect way to unwind on a hot, sunny day and absolutely worth it.
"Roof top 5 stars? No, it’s like the cloister."
I waited before writing this review, having visited the terrace several times—one poorly managed evening can happen, but unfortunately the issues proved consistent. Despite the warm and enthusiastic welcome, the actual service and management of both the restaurant and aperitifs are seriously lacking. On my first visit with international guests, only one out of four dishes was correct, as if the waiter had forgotten our order and improvised. On my second visit, the entire evening was a chain of oversights: after requesting the wine list, it never arrived until starters were already on the table, and when we asked about the characteristics of a particular wine, the only description offered was “dry, but good.” The bottle turned out to be a very peculiar unfiltered orange wine priced at €90—hardly something that should be described so vaguely. Even after multiple reminders, the wine was served at the end of the appetizers. Water was forgotten, dessert arrived without coffee, bread was never offered, and we had to request it midway through the meal. The young staff are kind and eager, but seem trained only to smile—not to provide proper service. The menu is not particularly impressive, though the aperitif menu is much more appealing and worth asking for. While the view is undeniably gorgeous, the service is far from the level expected of a five-star rooftop experience, which is genuinely disappointing.
"Calm stylish oasis in Rome"
The Six Senses is a beautiful, calm, and stylish oasis amid the hectic energy of Rome. We truly enjoyed our stay, particularly the peaceful spaces woven throughout the hotel. Service was proactive and very friendly, and the building itself is exceptionally well renovated—rooms feel contemporary, thoughtfully designed, and architecturally impressive, even if a bit simple in overall decor. The spa is excellent, and the terrace is a lovely place to unwind. One surprise, however, was the lack of dedicated gluten-free options at the breakfast buffet—something that has become standard across most luxury properties. Overall, it’s a beautiful hotel with many strengths, but the room prices are exceptionally high considering some of the room sizes. Despite this, it remains a serene and well-executed escape in the heart of the city.
"50 Stars!"
I would give this hotel 50 stars if it were possible. It was, without question, the best hotel experience my wife and I have ever had. Every staff member was remarkably friendly and attentive—from the warm, gracious welcome at check-in to the thoughtful service at the café, the doormen, housekeeping, and the spa team. The hotel is a peaceful sanctuary from the bustle of Rome, yet perfectly located near major sites. After exploring the city, returning to such a calm, beautifully designed space—with lush plants, inviting lounges, and soothing Roman Baths—was a joy. We felt incredibly well cared for throughout our stay, making it the perfect place to celebrate our 10-year anniversary. This property is truly special. To all the staff who made our stay unforgettable: thank you. We are Six Senses guests for life.
"Beautiful location, poor tour services"
The Six Senses Rome is a stunning property in the heart of the city, making it an ideal base for exploring the Eternal City. Our recent stay was very enjoyable, with the hotel’s beautiful ambiance and serene atmosphere standing out as highlights. However, the tour services arranged through the hotel fell short of expectations. The guide felt rushed and was difficult to follow, which was disappointing given the premium price of the experience. For a hotel situated in such a culturally rich location, well-organized and high-quality tours are essential, and there is definitely room for improvement in this area. Despite this, the overall quality and charm of the hotel make it deserving of a solid four-star rating.
"Five star stay"
Our room was spacious just as advertised, though the walk-in closet wasn’t especially useful for a short stay—so if you're watching your budget, a standard room would probably be perfectly fine. I really loved the bathroom design, especially the strong water pressure and excellent temperature control. We also enjoyed the Roman Baths and ended up going twice; unfortunately, we booked spa treatments too late and couldn’t secure a slot. Breakfast offered a nice buffet selection, and while the made-to-order options were generous, they weren’t particularly memorable. Overall, we truly enjoyed our stay.
"Teething problems"
A Beautiful Stay With Memorable Moments, but Let Down by Avoidable Service Issues I surprised my wife with a six-night stay at the end of our 11-week European holiday. We had been eagerly waiting for this hotel to open for quite some time, and our excitement was high upon arrival. From the moment our complimentary chauffeur transfer pulled up, we felt warmly welcomed. Three staff members greeted us at the entrance, quickly handled our luggage, and escorted us to the lobby. Check-in on a lounge rather than at a counter is always a lovely touch and set the tone for what we hoped would be a seamless stay. Our Junior Terrace Suite was beautiful, with a huge terrace and elegant design. The hotel’s dining areas, rooftop bar, spa, and Roman baths were all stunning. While we didn’t have spa treatments, the Roman bath experience was absolutely worth it. Communication with the reservations team before our arrival was excellent—they handled a few personal requests promptly and professionally. Overall, the hotel is aesthetically exceptional. However, throughout our stay, a number of small but surprising service issues occurred—things I did not expect from a hotel of this calibre. I had hoped to share these privately after receiving an automated email from the General Manager, but four months have passed without a response. As these may help improve operations, I’m including them here: • Check-In Oversight Despite having prepaid the entire stay, I was asked to pay for the first night at check-in. As this was a surprise for my wife, I didn’t want her to see any payment being processed. This should have been noted prior to arrival. • Incomplete Room Orientation When we were shown to our suite, no explanation was given about the room features beyond the telephone. I had to ask where the terrace was, and even then, the staff member was unsure how to open the doors. • Missing Basic Glassware Despite wine being in the minibar, there were no wine glasses—or any glasses at all. After requesting wine glasses, they were replaced the next day with water glasses, again with no wine glasses provided. • Wine Tasting Miscommunication We booked a wine tasting and arrived early, enjoying a cocktail while waiting. An hour later, we were told the staff thought we weren’t coming and had left—despite us sitting in the bar and signing drinks to our suite. This felt like a significant communication breakdown. • Laundry Error I requested ironing for a brand-new pair of trousers. They were instead washed and ironed—after someone crossed out and altered the laundry slip without checking. The bill was later corrected, but the damage was done. • Gluten Intolerance Not Communicated Even though I made my wife’s dietary requirement clear at booking, no staff at the restaurants or bars seemed aware of her gluten intolerance. We had to repeat it at every meal. Room service was the only exception. • Missing Cutlery Room service delivered soup with no spoon, requiring an extra call. • Repeated Emails From Spa Staff Before our arrival, I received three identical emails from different spa staff members introducing themselves—another small sign of internal misalignment. • Early Terrace Visit on Checkout Day Thirty minutes before our agreed checkout time, a gardener knocked requesting access to the terrace—something that could easily have been coordinated to avoid disturbing departing guests. Despite these issues, I want to emphasize that the staff were consistently friendly, warm, and eager to help. We were empathetic, knowing the hotel had only been open about seven months at the time, and many staff members seemed new to luxury hospitality. We still had a fantastic stay, and it was a magical way to end our European summer adventure. My hope is that, a year on, these early “teething problems” have been resolved, because the foundation—a gorgeous property, excellent location, and genuinely kind team—is truly outstanding.
"The heart of the Chef in the heart of Rome"
We have tried many rooftop restaurants in Rome—most are beautiful and refined—but Notos at the Six Senses truly stands out. Beyond the excellent cuisine of the talented Chef Fabio San Giovanni and the enchanting view, it’s the people who make the difference. Our waiters, Davide and his colleague, treated us with genuine kindness and impeccable professionalism, while Chef Fabio visited our table several times, showing an extraordinary level of care and attention to detail. The food was exceptional, the location on Via del Corso is perfect, the four-course tasting menu is well-priced, and the music and atmosphere create an unforgettable setting. We celebrated our wedding anniversary, and the team surprised us with a heart-shaped cake and candle—such a thoughtful touch. Highly recommended!
"Not cheap but recommendable"
Not inexpensive, but absolutely worth it—this hotel delivers an exceptional experience from start to finish. The interior design is stunning, showcasing thoughtful details and modern elegance throughout. The rooftop is truly spectacular, offering breathtaking views over Rome’s skyline paired with excellent drinks. The staff are warm, welcoming, and attentive, and the overall atmosphere is elevated by great music and sound quality. I would return in a heartbeat.
"Great service, great rooftop bar!"
The food was delicious and, despite being a gastronomic experience, felt very inclusive and approachable. The views were incredible, especially at sunset, creating a truly memorable atmosphere. Davide was the standout—attentive, knowledgeable, and full of excellent suggestions both for the menu and for exploring Rome. His service made the experience even more special. Highly recommended!
