"Horrible experience with this airline the first time and the last time"

I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with a recent flight experience due to this airline’s unreasonable and inconsistent luggage policy. We paid $50 for checked luggage, and among five passengers, only had two backpacks and two coats as carry-ons. However, once onboard, we were told we could not store any of our items in the overhead compartments because they were “only for wheeled luggage.” We complied without argument, but shortly after, we noticed other passengers storing backpacks and coats in those same compartments without issue. When we questioned this inconsistency, we were told we were not allowed to “argue for fairness.” A gate agent later claimed the other passengers had paid for the right to store those items overhead, though no tickets were checked to verify this. This arbitrary enforcement felt discriminatory and unfair. The flight attendants were rude and dismissive, treating us as if we were causing trouble despite following instructions. This disrespectful treatment contrasted sharply with our previous positive experiences on other budget airlines like easyJet and Ryanair. We will not fly with this airline again, and I hope this feedback encourages them to treat all passengers honestly and respectfully without penalizing those who comply with the rules.

"Flight OK, not so much the before and after"

"The flight itself was fine, though the seating felt a bit cramped. I wasn’t thrilled about having to pay for carry-on luggage, though I do appreciate that the checked bag fee is at least comparable to major airlines. Onboard service included a free beverage, but no snacks were offered. The gate area at BWI was extremely cramped and uncomfortable. The boarding process was rushed and chaotic—every group was called within five minutes, which defeated the whole purpose of boarding groups. This led to an unpleasant 15-minute wait on a hot jetway (over 80°F), which could have been better managed. Upon arrival at MSP, the 75-minute wait for checked baggage was frustrating. The delay was blamed on lightning in the area, yet ground crews seemed able to fuel the plane without issue. The inconsistency was puzzling. Overall, an okay experience, but there’s definitely room for improvement, especially in boarding and baggage handling."

"Not what they used to be"

This was a charter flight booked through Riverside Casino to Laughlin, NV. Unfortunately, the review form didn’t recognize Bullhead City, AZ as the destination airport, so I had to select Las Vegas instead. I’ve taken this charter several times over the years, but this was my least satisfying experience. The gate agent in Minneapolis was unfriendly and unhelpful, and the boarding process felt chaotic—like we were being herded onto the plane. We were packed in tightly, despite there being several open seats that wouldn’t be filled until the stop in Casper, WY. In contrast, the return flight was much more pleasant. The gate agent in Bullhead City was absolutely wonderful—friendly, helpful, and considerate in arranging seats that made it easy for us to move after passengers deplaned in Casper. The pilots were solid, and the flight attendants were competent, though not quite as warm and engaging as I remember Sun Country crews being in the past. All in all, the return leg was much better than the outbound. Here’s hoping the airline can bring back the more personable service they were once known for.

"Great Prices and Good Service"

I’ve seen a lot of negative reviews lately, but I fly Sun Country frequently to Las Vegas and Cozumel and have generally had great experiences. They’re usually on time, and I’ve had very few issues. The flight attendants are friendly, and the seats are reasonably comfortable. While they are a low-cost carrier, they don’t nickel-and-dime you the way Frontier and Spirit do—especially when it comes to things like choosing a seat next to a travel companion. It’s true they don’t have a massive fleet, so if a cancellation happens, there could be a wait to get rebooked. But honestly, that’s a small risk given they’re often half the cost of flying Delta. They don’t serve full meals, but their snack boxes are quite good and offer a nice variety. All in all, Sun Country provides solid value for budget-conscious travelers.

"Worst customer service on the planet"

I was refused check-in just one hour before my flight, being told I was “too late” even though it was only 8:12 pm. To make matters worse, there were no staff on-site when I arrived, and after waiting 20 minutes, the staff and management who finally showed up were extremely rude and unhelpful. The manager wouldn’t even provide her name when I asked to file a complaint. If you want to actually make your flight or receive any real assistance, take you

"Sister Trip ‘20"

The airplane itself was clean, and the in-flight crew was polite and professional. However, the experience at the airport was frustrating due to poor organization and delays at check-in. The line wrapped around the front of the terminal, and when staff finally attempted to manage the crowd, they split us into two lines—only to merge us back together right as I reached the front. This allowed people who had been behind me to be served first. To make matters worse, one passenger without any proper ID was somehow allowed to board ahead of everyone after showing just a few credit cards. I even had someone physically push past me in line without any staff stepping in. The in-flight experience was fine, but the disorganized and chaotic boarding process left a bad impression.

"Very uncomfortable"

The trip itself was okay, but the seats were extremely close together—this was by far the most uncomfortable I’ve ever been on a flight. It made it difficult to relax or enjoy the journey.

"DO NOT FLY THIS EVER. NO MATTER THE PRICE."

Worst airline ever. From the staff to the service, everything was awful. The delays were frustrating, the seats uncomfortable, and the overall experience was terrible. I have never had a worse flight in my life.

"Terrible"

Terrible, terrible, terrible. This is by far the worst airline I’ve ever flown with. I cannot emphasize this enough—save yourself the stress, frustration, and disappointment. Do yourself a favor and stay far away from this airline. The experience was nothing short of a nightmare.

"Too many date/time changes – uncertainty when traveling"

Today was the 2nd flight with this company that has been changed. My first flight to Atlanta changed by a whole day, leaving us scrambling to get a different flight on another airline. Today I was notified that my flight Orlando (for a wedding) has now been moved even earlier in the morning. No refunds unless it is more than a 3-hour change. If you need to get somewhere and you don't mind the uncertainty of the time (maybe day) you leave, this would be a great airline to fly. If you want to book a trip and not have it change on you, go somewhere else.

"i felt so stuppied to loyal to this airline in the last three year, i travel twice per month with them for business"

While waiting to check in for my flight, I received an email from Sun Country stating my flight schedule had changed, with options to stay on the same flight, change, or cancel. Since I didn’t have my schedule on hand, I needed to return to my office to confirm with my secretary before deciding. However, when I called Sun Country later that day to request a flight change, they told me it was no longer possible and that I should have made the change immediately upon receiving the email. Despite hearing many complaints about this airline, I chose them because Terminal 2 is less busy than Terminal 1. After this experience, I highly recommend choosing Delta instead—better service and similar prices. I feel foolish for being loyal to Sun Country for three years, given their poor customer service. Good luck, Sun Country.

"Good experience!"

I may be a unicorn, but we had a great experience with Sun Country. Our flight was on time, the staff interactions were genuinely positive, and we didn’t encounter any unexpected charges or delays. After having issues with another budget airline to Denver, our expectations were low—but Sun Country exceeded them. The plane was reasonably comfortable, and we traveled light with only under-seat bags, which kept things simple. The counter staff were kind and efficient, especially since we arrived early with no stress. For the price, we’d absolutely fly with Sun Country again and take our chances.

"Multiple horrible experiences with Sun Country & will never be flying with this airline again"

This is my third terrible experience with Sun Country Airlines. On my first vacation, both of my flights were canceled. On the next trip, my flight was delayed seven times with absolutely no explanation. Now, during this trip, we were stuck on the plane for an hour in what felt like 100-degree heat with no air conditioning. Eventually, they made us get off the plane and gave a vague explanation about “something wrong with a valve.” Since then, we’ve been left waiting with no updates or information about what’s next, anxiously hoping we don’t have to fly on a broken plane. This airline clearly has serious operational and communication issues.
