"Charming and Cozy Vegan Spot with Friendly Staff"
This cute and cozy vegan restaurant offers a warm atmosphere complemented by friendly and welcoming staff. We enjoyed their tasting menu, which was satisfying and filling. However, the flavors leaned a bit towards blandness and could have used a touch more seasoning, especially salt, to really make the dishes shine.
"Food, Disappointing Service Experience"
This was my first time dining at Tendril, and unfortunately, I’m not sure I’ll be returning. The food was genuinely delicious—we enjoyed every course of the set Saturday night menu. While it was quite a lot of food, the flavors and variety were impressive, and we appreciated the creativity behind each dish. However, the service fell short, especially considering the nearly £400 bill for our group of four. We were rushed off our table before we could finish our drinks and weren’t even offered the option to move to the bar. I understand they need to manage their bookings, but being given a 20-minute warning and then served dessert during that window felt dismissive. It was essentially: eat your dessert and leave. When I politely asked if we could stay a few more minutes to finish our drinks, the response was curt and unwelcoming. That lack of hospitality left a sour note at the end of what should have been a lovely evening. Additionally, being asked to reuse cutlery between courses didn’t sit well given the price point—although they did replace it when requested, it didn’t reflect the standard I would expect. Overall, while the food was excellent, the service left us disappointed. At this price level, you should walk away feeling cared for—not hurried out the door.
"Absolutely Loved This Place!"
I love this place so much! The ambiance is warm and welcoming, and the food is truly impressive 😍 Dinner is served as a set menu, a bit like an omakase experience, which made the evening feel special. All the ingredients were seasonal, beautifully sauced, and perfectly cooked. The truffle parfait was a delightful surprise, and the aubergine dish was outstanding—so much flavor and texture in what seemed like a simple preparation. One highlight was the use of purées; each one complemented its dish perfectly and added a unique touch that elevated the entire meal. At first, the portions may seem small, but don’t be fooled—it’s a lot of food! I was already full before the main course arrived 😂 The main course was decent, but honestly, the appetizers were the true stars—absolutely top tier. Service was excellent as well, with friendly and attentive staff throughout the evening. Highly recommend and can’t wait to come back!
"Pleasantly Surprised by a Superb Meal at Tendril"
I have to say I was genuinely and pleasantly surprised by our meal at Tendril. The savoury dishes were absolutely superb—creative, well-executed, and full of flavour. There’s definitely great value for money here, especially considering the quality and portion sizes. The dessert didn’t quite live up to the high bar set by the savoury courses—it was just “okay”—but that didn’t take away from the overall experience. We’ll definitely be going back. Tendril is one of the few truly great vegetarian/vegan spots we’ve found in London. Highly recommended!
"Mixed Experience – Some Hits, Mostly Misses"
We ordered the crispy potato with fennel remoulade, Chinatown purple potatoes, leek fritters, mushroom truffle toast with pistachio crumbs, and the banoffee pie. The standout dish was definitely the truffle toast—rich, flavorful, and perfectly executed. The purple potatoes were also enjoyable. However, the rest of the dishes felt overly heavy and oily, which made the meal less balanced overall. Disappointingly, the less enjoyable dishes were ones recommended by the staff, and I wouldn’t order them again. If I return, it would be solely for that amazing truffle toast.
"Good Food, But Let Down by Atmosphere"
The set menu featured some excellent dishes—especially the aubergine starter and mushroom main, which were both delicious. Unfortunately, the beetroot was overcooked and disappointing. One major downside was the poor lighting. It made the restaurant feel dingy and uninviting, and it was difficult to properly see or appreciate the presentation of the food. The bare walls didn’t help, making it a less-than-ideal environment for dining or taking photos. Service was generally good, but our waiter spoke very quickly and unclearly, so we often missed what was being said about each course. With some improvements to the ambiance and communication, the experience could be much better.
