"Holiday flight"

The flight crew were excellent, providing attentive and professional service throughout the journey. However, on long-haul flights, it would be a nice touch if Thai Airways provided fun packs for kids, as many other airlines do. This small gesture can really help keep young passengers entertained. Another area for improvement is the quality of the food served. Unfortunately, the standard wasn’t quite up to expectations. While the service was good, the food could definitely use some enhancement.

"Good but could be better"

I recently flew with Thai Airways on a B777 and had a generally pleasant experience. The aircraft was clean, and the seat provided decent legroom. The seat’s reclining feature, which moved forward, added to the overall comfort. On the seat, I was given a blanket and earphones, though there was no pillow available. It’s a bit disappointing, especially since many airlines still offer pillows for long flights. Due to COVID-19, there was no in-flight magazine available, which seems to be a common excuse for cost-saving measures, though other airlines are also using the same justification. The in-flight entertainment (IFE) system was decent, though the movie selection was a bit outdated. Fortunately, I found a couple of movies to keep me entertained. There was no welcome drink upon boarding, but service started promptly after takeoff with two meal options. The meal was tasty, accompanied by a selection of wine, beer, and drinks. Unfortunately, there was no ice cream for dessert. Throughout the flight, crew members offered small bottles of water, and some sandwiches and drinks were available at the galley. The restrooms were stocked with toothbrushes and hand cream, but there was no amenity kit. About an hour before landing, a second meal was served, again with two options. Overall, the flight was comfortable, but there are a few areas where Thai Airways could improve, particularly with amenities and inflight service.

"Pleasant Experience"

Our party of 7 recently flew with Thai Airways to Bangkok, and overall, it was a great experience. Due to scheduling conflicts, we had to reschedule our flight a couple of times, but each time, the customer service team was incredibly accommodating and prompt in assisting with our requests. Unfortunately, on our return flight, we accidentally left a bag on the plane. I emailed the airline the following morning, and they were quick to respond. Remarkably, they managed to locate our bag within a few hours on the same day. Throughout the journey, the crew members were friendly, approachable, and made sure we had a comfortable experience. Based on the excellent service we received, we would definitely consider flying with Thai Airways again in the future.

"I had a great experience with Thai Airways!"

I recently flew with Thai Airways from Heathrow to Bangkok, then from Bangkok to Wattay Airport (Laos), and finally back to Heathrow, and I must say everything was fantastic. Despite reading some negative reviews, my experience was far from disappointing. I had booked window seats and sat in the assigned seat without any issues. The food was exceptional, the service was professional, and the aircraft was new and clean. I had several luggage transfers throughout my journey, and everything arrived at the right place without a hitch! Additionally, I booked a Bangkok Air flight through Thai Airways from Bangkok to Koh Samui and back, and I had no problems with them either. It seems that people who have a great experience often don’t take the time to write a review, but I want to highlight my excellent experience. I would definitely recommend Thai Airways to others, and I look forward to flying with them again.

"Nice company which lost its luster"

Thai Airways was once synonymous with luxury, where traveling in first class felt like being treated as a true VIP. We used to fly regularly from/to Bangkok, and the experience was unmatched — personal attention, exclusive services, and a level of comfort that made the journey unforgettable. Sadly, our recent experience was not quite what we remembered. The current offering, even in business class, feels more like an ordinary service compared to the grandeur of the past. We still love Thailand and the warm, welcoming nature of the Thai people, and we hold out hope that Thai Airways will return to its former glory. We look forward to the day when Thai Airways regains its reputation as one of the finest airlines in the world. Until then, we continue to cherish the memories of the exceptional service we once experienced.

"Good airline if you don’t exceed the luggage weight."

Overall, this is a solid airline, especially if you're traveling with a single checked bag that meets the 25 kg weight limit (as of March 2025). The in-flight service is good, with decent meals and free entertainment, making for a comfortable journey. However, there's a significant downside if your luggage exceeds 25 kg. The airline charges for extra weight "per kg," not per bag, which can get excessively expensive. This can be a bit of a surprise if you're not prepared. If you're mindful of your luggage weight, this airline offers a reliable experience. But if you're carrying heavier bags, be sure to factor in the hefty fees for excess weight.

"Very good!"

I recently flew with this airline for a round trip from London to Bangkok. The outbound flight had a stroke of luck with an emergency exit seat, which provided extra legroom—perfect for comfort. Unfortunately, the service and food quality were lacking on that flight, which was disappointing. However, my return flight (PG916 from Bangkok) was a different story—fantastic! The crew’s response to an unwell passenger before pushback was exceptional. They acted quickly and professionally, with the captain even stepping in to assist and arrange medical attention. It was clear they were well-trained in handling such situations. After an hour delay, the rest of the flight was smooth, and the service was great. I had another emergency exit seat, though the only downside was other passengers frequently standing on my feet while waiting for the toilet. The food was delicious, and I managed to get some rest, despite the occasional disruptions from passengers. Overall, great service and attention from the crew, but there’s room for improvement in food quality and comfort.

"I like the food and service but customer support and information should more take care"

I would like to share my recent experience with Thai Airways regarding communication and customer care, which left me disappointed despite being a regular customer. I booked a promotional flight from Sydney to Bangkok and then onward to Khon Kaen. After confirming the booking, I noticed there was only a one-hour layover in Bangkok. Concerned, I contacted Thai Airways' customer service to ask if this was sufficient time to make the connection. I was told it would not be possible, as domestic flights like the one to Khon Kaen depart from a different airport and require at least two hours to transit and re-check in. Based on this information, I changed my plans and didn’t take the Khon Kaen flight. To my surprise, upon arriving in Bangkok, Thai Airways had staff waiting to help me make the connection—a contradiction to what I was told over the phone. I explained to the staff member that customer service had advised otherwise, and they suggested I contact Thai Airways for a refund. Due to the small value of the missed domestic flight and the challenges of traveling with a young child, I did not follow up right away. However, the situation worsened. When I tried to check in online for my return flight to Sydney, I couldn’t—my son's and my tickets showed issues. I called customer service again and was informed that my entire return ticket had been cancelled because I missed the Bangkok–Khon Kaen segment. I was never notified by email, phone, or SMS that missing that flight would automatically cancel my return. I arrived at the airport four hours before departure with my six-year-old son, only to be told I could still fly but would need to pay 30,000 THB. After lengthy discussions, I was rebooked as a “no-show” and charged 18,000 THB to fly. While I understand airline rules may justify this, I feel the real issue lies in the complete lack of communication. Had I received even a simple email warning me that my return flight was at risk, I could have acted earlier and avoided unnecessary stress, cost, and confusion. I appreciate the staff’s help at the airport in reducing the fare from 30,000 to 18,000 THB, but the experience highlights a serious gap in Thai Airways’ customer care. Better communication—especially for regular travelers who may not know every airline policy—can prevent situations like this. I sincerely hope this feedback helps improve your service.

"Okay flight"

On my recent flight, I was offered an almond pastry and a bottle of water. The flight was short, so I didn’t expect much, and the experience was fairly average. While the flight itself was fine, I personally preferred my previous experience with Bangkok Airways.

"Crew excellent, aircraft need modernising"

We chose Thai Airways for our return trip to Bangkok based on the great price and the convenience of a direct flight. The Business Class return ticket was half the price compared to other major airlines like Emirates, Singapore, and Etihad. At Heathrow, we used the United lounge, which had plenty of space and seating, making for a comfortable wait. Boarding our 777-300, we noticed that the aircraft was older, with tired fixtures and fittings. Unfortunately, there was no Champagne offered before departure, only fruit juice. However, the food was excellent, and the crew was highly attentive. The in-flight entertainment options were limited, which was a downside. On the return flight, there was an over-hour delay departing from Bangkok, but we got to spend more time in the large and empty lounge. The food and beverage selection in the lounge was great. The aircraft for the return flight was noticeably newer, and we were offered Champagne before departure. As with the outbound flight, the food was excellent, and the crew was top-notch. Overall, it was a good value flight, and you definitely get what you pay for. However, small changes like updating older aircraft and improving in-flight entertainment could further enhance the experience.

"Wonderful company, recommended"

I can honestly say this is one of the best airlines I have ever flown with. The company is incredibly flexible, and there were no issues with my hand luggage. The flight even left earlier than scheduled and arrived at the destination ahead of time, which was a pleasant surprise. During the 12-hour flight, I was served two meals – a lunch/dinner and a breakfast – both of which included coffee, tea, or juice. Two small bottles of water were also provided with the meals. The in-flight entertainment was top-notch, with screens at every seat offering a wider movie selection than Netflix. Additionally, they provided a pillow and blanket for comfort. The staff was incredibly kind and attentive, and everything was organized perfectly. I highly recommend this airline 100 percent!
