"Murphy’s Manor!"

I chose this hotel for two main reasons: its secluded location amidst greenery in a chaotic city and its reputation as one of the original boutique hotels in the capital. Unfortunately, both turned out to be major disappointments. Being tucked away inside a protected residential colony (Friends Colony) made access complicated, even for ride-hailing services. Worse, the hotel has clearly lost much of its boutique charm. I was also looking forward to using their much-publicized fitness center, but upon check-in, the front desk casually mentioned it was closed for renovation—without any prior notice or apology. Guests should be informed about non-functional amenities before arrival, but that courtesy was lacking. The stay seemed plagued by issues. The gym was closed, the toilet flush wasn’t working, the Wi-Fi was painfully slow (making video calls nearly impossible), and the coffee machine was broken, meaning no simple hot beverages. The list goes on. The only saving grace was the staff, who went out of their way to make up for the shortcomings, especially Deepak at the front desk, whose friendly and helpful approach stood out. Location: Situated deep within Friends Colony, a residential area with no nearby dining or shopping options, making guests feel confined. Dining: INJA, a Japanese-Indian fusion restaurant, is the primary food and drink option. Room: We stayed in Room 4, which had no view (blocked by a wall), limited space for two adults, comfortable bedding, and a functional air-conditioning system. The bathroom had a standard shower with average-quality toiletries. Facilities: No gym (under renovation) and no swimming pool—a missed opportunity for a property like this. Connectivity: Extremely slow Wi-Fi and a small TV offering a wide variety of channels. Overall, the stay was a big disappointment, and the only reason I’d even rate it two stars is because of the genuinely friendly staff who did their best despite the hotel’s many failings.

"The perfect boutique hotel."

The Manor is the ideal boutique hotel, offering the same quality as The Imperial or The Lodhi but at a fraction of the cost. Nestled in a serene, leafy oasis, it features only a handful of large, comfortable, and quiet rooms—perfect for couples rather than families. We’ve stayed here many times and experienced most of the rooms, all consistently excellent. The front desk staff are exceptional, always eager to assist with anything you may need. Since Indian Accent’s departure to The Lodhi a few years ago, The Manor has introduced Inju, an outstanding Indian-Japanese fusion restaurant that is sure to earn accolades and is a worthy successor to Indian Accent. There’s also a charming Italian all-day café serving excellent pizza, as well as a remarkable French bakery with exquisite cakes, pastries, and coffee. These dining options have even become a destination for well-off families, who often drop by to enjoy the space for a few hours. If you’re looking for a quiet, luxurious retreat in Delhi with exceptional service and gourmet dining, The Manor is a perfect choice.

"Clean and good quality hotel in a quiet part of New Delhi"

The Manor is located in one of the quiet and upscale suburbs of Delhi, making it the perfect choice for those who wish to avoid the hustle and bustle of large commercial hotels. This boutique property exudes charm and exclusivity, featuring a beautifully maintained garden setting that adds to its serene atmosphere. The breakfast offered is hearty and satisfying, though those staying for more than a couple of days may find the lack of variety a bit repetitive. Nonetheless, the overall dining experience is elevated by the tranquil ambience and quality service. One of the highlights of my stay was the responsiveness of the owner. While I was overseas, I contacted them regarding an early check-in, and they promptly coordinated with the local staff to accommodate my request—a thoughtful gesture that left a lasting impression. If you’re looking for a peaceful boutique retreat with personalized service and a picturesque setting, The Manor is an excellent choice.

"Painful experience"

The Manor, situated in one of Delhi’s quiet and upscale suburbs, offers a peaceful boutique experience far removed from the noise of commercial hotels. The property’s beautifully maintained garden and serene atmosphere make it an appealing choice for couples or travelers seeking relaxation. The rooms themselves are adequate, though the bathrooms could be made safer. In my room, the bathtub doubled as a shower enclosure, which proved to be extremely slippery, and no slip mat was provided. Unfortunately, I experienced a nasty fall during the night and injured my back badly—thankfully it wasn’t worse. This is an important safety concern that needs immediate attention. The breakfast is hearty and enjoyable, though it may become repetitive for longer stays due to limited variety. In-room dining options are also quite limited. On a positive note, the staff are polite, friendly, and eager to assist, and the owner personally followed up on an early check-in request while I was overseas, ensuring my needs were met promptly—a thoughtful gesture. While The Manor excels in its tranquil setting and warm service, improvements in bathroom safety and dining variety would make the experience far more comfortable.

"An Urban Oasis in the Capital!"

I’ve always avoided visiting Delhi as I’m not fond of the city, but a recent meeting left me with no choice. Since I had to go, I decided to look for a place that wasn’t a towering commercial hotel. That’s when I discovered The Manor, a boutique luxury hotel that turned out to be just perfect—and only 16 minutes away from Connaught Place, where my meeting was scheduled. The property is tucked away in a quiet neighborhood in Friends Colony, featuring cobbled driveways for cars and just 12 rooms. It was more than I could have ever imagined—quaint, intimate, and exactly what I wanted. I arrived at dinner time and headed straight to Camillo’s, the on-site Italian restaurant, with V. Dining in the outdoor garden under heaters, with a slight Delhi chill in the air, was blissful. The salmon linguine was one of the best I’ve ever had! I stayed in Room 2, a spacious ground-floor signature room with a small veranda. While the room was charming, the shower cubicle felt far too tiny and could definitely use more space. The following evening, after my meeting, I dined at Inja, The Manor’s Indian-Japanese fusion restaurant. The experience was nothing short of extraordinary. Every dish was a perfect balance of taste, texture, and creativity, and the cocktails were out of this world—I had three and loved every one! Inja is a restaurant I’ll be recommending to everyone I know visiting Delhi. What truly made the stay special was the team: Supradeep, the talented mixologist, took us through a memorable cocktail adventure. Akashdeep was wonderfully attentive and helpful, with a smile and laugh that’s simply infectious. Neeraj Sharma, the gracious manager, ensured everything at the restaurants ran immaculately. If someone mentions Delhi to me now, The Manor will be my top choice. It’s charming, boutique, and made for travelers like me. I can’t wait to return in March 2024 for a longer stay!

"Fawlty Towers"

After reading many positive reviews, we arrived at The Manor with high expectations and were looking forward to our stay. The property itself is undeniably beautiful, tastefully decorated, and exudes a boutique charm. Our room was spacious, clean, and featured a large, comfortable bed that made for a pleasant first impression. We dined at The Verandah, where the food was decent but served in small portions and priced on the higher side. We ordered an Australian wine but later realized we were served a New Zealand wine instead, though it tasted fine. On the positive side, the staff were friendly and offered helpful suggestions on where to shop in Delhi. Unfortunately, breakfast was where the real disappointment set in. It took over 45 minutes for our order of eggs to arrive, and when they finally did, they were the wrong order. Despite there being only a few guests, the service felt completely chaotic. No one offered us more coffee, the pineapple juice (advertised as fresh) had an off-putting taste, and several parts of our order never showed up. One glaring issue was that the staff never wrote anything down—a simple pen and paper could have avoided much of the confusion. To sum it up, while The Manor is a beautiful property with comfortable accommodations, the service, especially during breakfast, left much to be desired. This is certainly not a four-star experience, and the management has a long way to go in improving consistency and efficiency.

"Lovely after recent refurbishment"

The Manor is a lovely boutique hotel, ideal for a quiet stay in Delhi. Its location is quite convenient, though it can be a little difficult to find as it’s tucked away in a residential area. During our stay, the spa wasn’t operational yet, and there’s no elevator, so be prepared to walk up the stairs if your room is on the first floor. Unfortunately, our experience was marred by poor customer service. We were incorrectly charged for someone else’s breakfast, and despite sending numerous email messages, the hotel refused to correct the mistake. Communication with the staff was generally very slow, and this lack of responsiveness was frustrating. While the property itself is charming, improvements in customer service and responsiveness are urgently needed for The Manor to truly live up to its potential.

"Badly organised"

I have stayed at The Manor many times before Covid, back when they had the fabulous Indian Accent restaurant. Since then, the property has been refurbished and now features two new restaurants, Camillos (Italian) and Inja (Indian/Japanese). Unfortunately, things have noticeably gone downhill since my last visit. I went for lunch at Camillos and was the only guest there. I ordered a grilled sandwich and, after 25 minutes of waiting with no explanation, had to ask where it was. Still receiving no satisfactory reply, I finally told them to send it up to my room—if they ever managed to get it together. The next night it was pouring rain, and I tried to dine at Inja, which is located off the downstairs corridor. To my surprise, the door was locked. Reception informed me that I had to walk outside in the rain and around to another entrance, as the indoor access was no longer available. They did give me an umbrella—but it was still an absurdly inconvenient arrangement. After my meal at Inja, I asked to charge the dinner to my room but was told I had to pay on the spot because the restaurant operates separately from The Manor. The whole place now feels poorly organized. Small but telling details—like a pen in my room that didn’t work, an in-room dining menu that was no longer functional, and a phone with no instructions on how to contact reception—only added to the frustration. Sadly, The Manor has lost the charm and efficiency it once had. I’m afraid I won’t be staying here again.

"Lovely hotel tucked away"

I recently stayed at The Manor for just one night and found it to be a delightful experience. This little oasis is tucked away and can be a bit hard to find, but the peacefulness compared to the rest of Delhi makes it worth the effort. The grounds are lovely, and the property is beautifully decorated. Check-in was smooth and done the old-fashioned way—on paper—which added a charming touch. The rooms were very spacious and comfortable, making for a restful stay. Breakfast was simple but plentiful, providing a great start to the day. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at The Manor and would happily recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet, well-appointed retreat in Delhi.

"Actually a Boutique Hotel Experience."

I’ve seen and heard about many boutique hotels, but The Manor could easily be considered the benchmark. Every inch and detail of this property has been thoughtfully designed, creating a space that feels refined yet effortless. The neighborhood is supremely peaceful—a rare find in Delhi—which only adds to its charm. The staff are exceptionally friendly and courteous, making you feel genuinely welcome throughout your stay. The food was perfectly balanced and delicious, never overdone, and just the right amount of everything. This property truly exemplifies what a boutique hotel should be. I absolutely loved my stay and would recommend The Manor to anyone seeking a serene and perfectly curated experience in Delhi.

"Nice location, lovely food but at a price"

We stayed at The Manor for one night after arriving from London. The service was courteous, and while our room was on the small and dark side, it was fine for the purpose of getting some much-needed rest. We dined at the restaurant and opted for the tasting menu. At 3,000 rupees per person, it wasn’t cheap, but we had been told it was one of the best restaurants in India. The food was indeed excellent, and with a couple of glasses of wine and beers, it made for a lovely evening. However, the final bill of about 12,000 rupees (approximately £140) felt overpriced. We had been warned about the noisy trains during peak hours, but we certainly didn’t expect to be disturbed by them at 1:30 a.m. We left early the next morning to catch a train and appreciated that the staff prepared a packed breakfast. Unfortunately, it was disappointing: two very small stale croissants, a piece of cake, and an apple. Compared to the wonderful dining experience the night before, it felt rather mean and lacking in thoughtfulness. Overall, while the restaurant impressed us, the stay as a whole left us wishing for more value and attention to detail.

"Old School"

The Manor is beautifully located in Friends Colony, an upmarket residential neighborhood in Delhi. This luxurious boutique hotel offers spacious and airy rooms, creating a comfortable and elegant environment for guests. The food is excellent, adding to the overall experience. If you’re seeking a peaceful, high-end stay away from the city’s hustle, The Manor is highly recommended.
