"If you want to feel like royalty…"

If you’re seeking a luxurious treat in Rome, the St. Regis is unbeatable. From the moment you arrive, the staff, rooms, and public areas impress with elegance and attention to detail. The beds, toiletries, and overall service are exceptional, leaving a lasting impression. The location is superb—situated away from the noisy tourist hubs, yet within easy walking distance to taxis, cars, and even a 10-minute stroll from the train station. Nearby restaurants make exploring the quieter parts of Rome a delight. For airport transfers, a flat rate of €55 is convenient and straightforward. Overall, an unforgettable stay that will make you reluctant to leave.

"It was very good, except that the bathtub wasn’t cleaned."

With the benefit of Platinum membership or a two-step upgrade, the rooms are large, breakfast is delicious—especially the vegetables—and the staff is kind, making for a generally very good stay. The location is convenient, safe to walk from Termini Station, and taxis are easy to arrange. However, we experienced some housekeeping issues. Upon arrival, we noticed remnants from a previous guest in the bathtub, and although only bath seats and empty boxes were provided daily, the leftover debris from prior use was still present. More concerningly, two days later, when returning to the room in the evening, there was still hot water in the bathtub colored from prior use. While not a major issue, it was disappointing for a hotel of this standard. Having stayed at St. Regis properties across the U.S., Europe, Middle East, and Asia, this was our first experience with such housekeeping lapses. While the turndown service was declined, these issues make us reconsider future stays, including potential visits to the St. Regis in Florence.

"Luxurious but feels cold. St Regis Rome can do better."

The St. Regis Rome is undeniably beautiful, with pristine lobbies and well-kept common areas. We stayed in the St. Regis Suite and upgraded to a larger Astor Suite for our wedding anniversary, which was lovely and came with nice views. The room featured Acqua di Parma bath products, large comfortable towels, and a coffee machine (espresso only, though the butler service was very helpful). Water pressure was underwhelming, and the spa on the 5th floor was adequate, with a small sauna in the changing room. The gym was small but functional, accessed through the spa. While the hotel’s grandeur is impressive, the overall experience felt cold and lacked the personal recognition found at other luxury properties like the Four Seasons or Park Hyatt. Most staff, apart from the butler team and the manager of Lumen restaurant, could benefit from training to make guests feel more genuinely welcome. For the price paid, it did not feel worth the level of service provided. We will return to Rome, but likely not to this property.

"Special event"

In January 2025, I attended a “Special, Unique” event at the St. Regis, both as a guest and assisting the organizers. The location is wonderful, elegant, and uniquely designed, with high-quality delicacies that truly impress. Sommelier Davide was outstanding—a consummate professional who offered refined advice on wine pairings with each dish, and delivered it with polite elegance, perfectly reflecting the five-star luxury of the St. Regis. Giulio Pugliese, the Guest Experience Manager, was another exceptional team member. Unfortunately, the experience was marred by the conduct of the director, Alessandro, whose behavior was inadequate, disturbing, and rude—far below the standard expected at such a prestigious establishment. Despite this, I highly recommend the St. Regis for any occasion, from cocktails to special events, while sincerely hoping management reviews and addresses the director’s role to align it with the hotel’s excellence.

"Stunning lobby, but cramped accommodations"

We recently stayed at the St. Regis Rome, and while the lobby and public spaces are breathtaking—elegant, historic, and beautifully maintained—the overall experience didn’t fully live up to its five-star reputation. The rooms were cramped, with the bed positioned just an arm’s length from the shower and barely enough space to open a large suitcase. Ours was on the main floor and faced the street, making it incredibly noisy. Service was polite but inconsistent, falling short of expectations for a hotel at this level. The gym was decent, though nothing exceptional compared to what you could find at a mid-range hotel. In summary, if you’re visiting for the atmosphere and grandeur, the St. Regis will impress, but if you’re expecting spacious accommodations and consistently top-tier service, you may leave feeling underwhelmed—and with less money for exploring the city.

"Nice but …"

I had been looking forward to staying at this level of hotel in Rome and arrived early in the morning, excited to drop off our bags and explore the city. The staff kindly stored our luggage and asked us to return in a few hours. However, when we returned at 3 PM, we were told our room wasn’t ready because the ambassador who had stayed there extended her stay. We were offered coffee and tea while waiting, but two hours passed with no update. By the time we finally got our room around 6 PM, there was no upgrade as promised. Exhausted and disappointed, all we could do was rest. While the stay itself was enjoyable and Rome was wonderful, the check-in experience was frustrating, with poor communication and a lack of smooth handling. I hope the promised upgrade wasn’t lost unnecessarily, but overall, I expected a more seamless arrival process.

"Pretty Place, Poor Service"

The hotel has been recently renovated, and both the interiors and rooms are very attractive—this could have been a four- or five-star experience. However, the stay was marred by multiple service and operational issues. An upgrade confirmed through the hotel app was revoked a day before arrival, setting a disappointing tone. Our assigned room was supposedly quiet, yet a private party on the second night went past 1 a.m., with music so loud we had to leave the hotel. On top of that, the thermostat in our room was broken, leaving us unable to control the temperature—despite assurances from staff that it would be fixed, no resolution was provided. Butler service was essentially nonexistent: requests for shirt pressing over three nights were ignored. Communication failures extended to check-out, where we were promised follow-up regarding our complaints, but none came. On the positive side, the breakfast staff were exceptional and the rooms themselves were beautiful. Still, for the price and reputation of the St. Regis, the service and unresolved issues fell far below expectations.

"Simply a must when in Rome"

What an incredibly impressive hotel! The grandeur and elegance are overwhelming, blending luxury with classic, traditional charm. Check-in was smooth despite only two desks next to the concierge, and the entrance alone is jaw-dropping—the hotel’s hub in the evening is truly lively. The fast lifts and expansive corridors added to the excitement of reaching our room. Our room was spacious, plush, and extremely comfortable. The bed was heavenly, with divine linens, and the bathroom featured Acqua di Parma products along with thoughtful extras like toner and mouthwash. Wardrobes lit up when opened, and cushioned hangers for delicate items were a nice touch. The coffee machine took a little time to figure out, but the design, inspired by classic Italian paintings, made it forgivable. Complimentary Acqua Panna and coffee capsules were appreciated. Some minor issues: the shower pressure was just okay, the glass container for decaf capsules had shattered one day, and a turn-down housekeeping incident occurred when we forgot to put the “Do Not Disturb” sign, though we understood the staff’s position. The spa is small, with a sauna in tight quarters, and we didn’t have time for treatments, but using the ancient lift to reach it was delightful. A highlight was the daily 7 PM ceremonial champagne opening with piano accompaniment—a spectacular and must-see experience. The bar staff were attentive and professional, maintaining a serious presence even when engaging with guests. Although we didn’t experience breakfast, it’s easy to imagine it being equally grand. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay; a few small improvements could make it a full 5-star experience, but we highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting.

"Recommended"

The hotel is grand and ideally located, offering cozy and spacious rooms that make for a comfortable stay. The signature breakfast and 5-star amenities add to the overall appeal. However, the bathrooms are in need of renovation, with marble surfaces showing noticeable stains, which slightly detracts from the otherwise luxurious experience. Overall, a wonderful stay with minor areas for improvement.

"Enjoyed our stay"

The hotel was very nice, and the staff were friendly and helpful. We were a bit disappointed that the coffee maker didn’t work, a bathroom light kept flickering, and the shower door was quite noisy—although maintenance was sent, nothing was fully fixed. The location is walkable, though the streets require longer walks than expected, and crowds are typical for Italy. There are several bistros and patisseries just a block away. Overall, it’s a good place to stay, quiet at night, and we had no trouble sleeping.
