The St. Regis Rome

"It was very good, except that the bathtub wasn’t cleaned."
With Platinum membership or a two-step upgrade, the rooms at the St. Regis were spacious, the breakfast—especially the vegetables—was delicious, and the staff was kind, making for an overall very good stay. However, we encountered some housekeeping issues. On arrival, when filling the bathtub for a footbath, we noticed leftover trash from the previous guest floating in the water. While the provided bath seats and empty boxes were replaced daily, the remnants of prior use were still present. Later in our stay, two days before check-out, there was still hot water in the bathtub with a faint color from our earlier use, which we found surprising. This occurred even though we opted out of turndown service in the evenings, so it may have been limited to that service. Having stayed at St. Regis properties in the U.S., Europe, Middle East, and Asia before, this was my first experience here, and it gives us pause about booking St. Regis in Florence in the future. On the positive side, the location was convenient, with easy, safe access on foot from Termini Station and taxis readily available.
"Special event"
In January 2025, I attended a “Special, Unique” event at the St. Regis, both as a guest and assisting the organizers. The location is wonderful, elegant, and architecturally unique, with an exceptional selection of high-quality delicacies. Sommelier Davide stood out for his professionalism, offering refined advice on wine pairings with each dish, all delivered with gracious elegance—a true five-star luxury experience. Giulio Pugliese, the Guest Experience Manager, was also outstanding, ensuring everything ran smoothly. Unfortunately, the director, Alessandro, was a notable negative. His behavior was rude, disruptive, and inappropriate for a hotel of this caliber, failing to meet the standard expected at such a prestigious property. Despite this, I highly recommend the St. Regis for any occasion, from a simple cocktail to a special event. My only hope is that management addresses the issue with the director to maintain the otherwise exemplary reputation of the hotel.
"A Hotel with a Soul"
Some places leave a lasting impression, and The St. Regis Rome is one of them—not just for its beauty, but for the people who bring it to life. Pietro, with over 30 years at the hotel, embodies everything hospitality should be. His charm, generosity, knowledge, and deep sense of place made our evening truly special, reminding us that even in modern times, hotels have soul through people like him. Behind the bar, Federico was equally remarkable. A talented and elegant professional, he crafted exquisite cocktails with care and confidence. Together, Pietro and Federico created an atmosphere that made everyone want to linger and savor the moment. We will absolutely return, and we sincerely hope to see both of them again. Their hospitality felt genuine, warm, and rare—the kind that stays with you long after you leave. Thank you both; it meant more than you may realize. ❤️
"Luxury, warmth and impeccable hospitality in Rome"
We stayed at The St. Regis Rome to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary, and the experience was exceptional from the moment we arrived. The team made our anniversary feel truly special—every interaction was warm, thoughtful, and personal. The hotel itself is breathtaking, a palace-like masterpiece that feels like a destination on its own. The service and attention to detail throughout our stay were impeccable. Every request was handled with care, and the butler team deserves special recognition for their consistent thoughtfulness and responsiveness. Breakfast was a highlight of our mornings. Chef Cristiano went above and beyond, personally customizing dishes for us, while the entire breakfast staff was welcoming, hospitable, and attentive each day. The concierge team added immense value, helping us book tours, providing reliable guidance, and offering excellent restaurant recommendations. The only minor area for improvement was the bar staff at night, who could have been slightly more attentive. While it didn’t significantly affect our stay, it stood out against the otherwise flawless service. Overall, our experience at The St. Regis Rome was outstanding—luxurious, elegant, and filled with thoughtful touches that made our 10th anniversary unforgettable. We left with wonderful memories and can’t wait to return.
"Nice but …"
I had been looking forward to staying at this level of hotel in Rome, arriving early in the morning with plans to explore the city until check-in. The staff quickly secured our luggage and asked us to return in a few hours, which was fine. However, when we returned at 3 PM, we were told our room wasn’t ready because a previous guest had extended her stay. We were offered coffee and tea while waiting, but two hours passed with no updates. By then, I was exhausted and worried whether we would even get a room. The staff had promised a “worth the wait” experience. Finally, around 6 PM, we received our room—no upgrade, which was disappointing after such a long wait. While the stay itself and our time in Rome were enjoyable, the check-in process and communication fell short of expectations. I hope any missed upgrade wasn’t wasted.
"Luxurious but feels cold. St Regis Rome can do better."
Our recent stay at The St. Regis Rome, compared to the Four Seasons Florence, highlighted some contrasts. The hotel itself is beautiful, with clean, well-kept common areas and a sense of grandeur throughout. We stayed in the St. Regis Suite and upgraded to a larger Astor Suite for our wedding anniversary. The room was lovely, with comfortable towels, great Acqua di Parma bath products, a nice view, and a coffee machine (espresso only). Butler service was attentive and provided coffee whenever we requested. The spa, located on the 5th floor, was adequate but required walking through it to access the small gym. The changing room included a small sauna. Water pressure in the shower was not ideal. While the hotel is visually impressive and staff wear elegant uniforms, the overall experience lacked the personal recognition and warmth we’ve felt at other luxury hotels like the Four Seasons or Park Hyatt. With the exception of the butler team and the lovely lady running Lumen restaurant, staff interactions felt distant, and attention to small details could be improved. For the price, the stay felt somewhat cold, and while we will return to Rome, we likely won’t stay here again. With more focus on personal touches, this hotel could truly shine.
"Simply a must when in Rome"
What an incredibly impressive hotel! Its majesty is overwhelming, effortlessly combining elegance, luxury, and timeless classic charm. Check-in was smooth despite only two desks next to the concierge, and we were pleasantly surprised at how quickly we were assisted. The hotel entrance is jaw-dropping, and later in the evening becomes the vibrant hub of activity. Fast lifts whisked us to our floor, and walking along the grand corridors to our room was an experience in itself. The room was spacious, plush, and exceptionally comfortable. The bed was heavenly, with divine linens, and the bathroom featured beautiful Acqua di Parma products along with thoughtful extras like toner and mouthwash. Even the wardrobes were illuminated when opened, with cushioned hangers for delicate items—every detail was carefully considered. Some minor issues arose: the shower pressure was only adequate, one day a glass container for decaf coffee capsules had shattered, and during turn-down service we received a gentle reprimand for not using the “Do Not Disturb” sign—but all were minor in the grand scheme. We enjoyed the charm of the ancient lift to the spa, which, though small, was delightful, and we look forward to trying a treatment next time. The daily 7 PM ceremonial champagne opening was spectacular, complete with exquisite piano music and an open bar area for snacks and champagne. The staff at the bar were serious yet professional, maintaining the refined atmosphere. Although we didn’t experience breakfast, we are confident it would be equally grand. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. With a few small improvements, this hotel would earn a full five stars, but we would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Rome.
"Exceptional Service at Lumen Bar"
My parents and I stumbled upon the Lumen Bar at the St. Regis Rome by pure chance during our visit, and thanks to Pietro, our experience was nothing short of exceptional. Although we were not hotel guests, Pietro made us feel completely at home, treating us like family. We enjoyed our time so much that we returned two more times. Our visit to the St. Regis became a highlight of our trip and one of the finest examples of service and hospitality I have ever experienced.
"Enjoyed our stay"
The hotel was very nice, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. We were a bit disappointed that a few things in the room—like the coffee maker, a flickering bathroom light, and the creaky shower door—weren’t fixed despite sending someone to look at them. The location is within walking distance to many attractions, though expect plenty of walking and crowds, as is typical in Italy. Nearby, there are some lovely bistros and patisseries just a block away. Overall, it’s a good place to stay, and it’s quiet at night, so sleeping was never an issue.
"Far Exceeded Expectations"
We stay at St. Regis properties whenever we can, and while we’ve visited some truly incredible destinations, we didn’t expect the St. Regis Rome to be this amazing. Being our first non-tropical St. Regis property, we anticipated a lovely stay but were blown away by how much we loved it. The hotel’s beauty far exceeds the pictures—it’s absolutely stunning in person. The staff are kind, attentive, and genuine, making it clear that they truly care about creating a special experience. The location is perfect for exploring Rome on foot, the food at Lumen is delicious, the breakfast buffet is incredible, and the drinks and overall atmosphere are exceptional. We originally stayed just one night at the start of our trip, but we loved it so much that we returned after visiting Sardinia, even canceling another hotel to stay here again. We can’t wait to return!
