The Standard, High Line

"Hotel and Restaurant Recommendation"
Amazing hotel in a prime location. J. Ward at the Standard Grill provided outstanding service—attentive, friendly, and professional. Highly recommend both the hotel and the dining experience!
"Overall great"
Overall, the service and accommodations were excellent, with high-quality bedding and towels. The hotel features a nice on-site restaurant and bar, and some rooms offer views of the Empire State Building. However, the facial tissues and toilet paper were disappointingly thin and rough. Additionally, the unusually steep-walled tub/shower could benefit from a grab bar for safer entry and exit.
"Nice overnight stay for a quick business trip."
I had a pleasant overnight stay at this hotel, located in the heart of the Meatpacking District—a neighborhood with classic, old-school NYC charm. The room was comfortable and offered a nice corner view. While the hotel has several on-site dining options, I opted to walk to a nearby pizza spot and enjoyed a delicious coal-fired pie.
"Awesome views, but no coffee in room or lobby"
My daughter and I really enjoyed our room, especially for its incredible views of the city and river. The bathtub was fantastic, although the water never got quite hot enough, even though the shower was fine. The dark hallway to the elevator and the dimly lit elevator itself felt a bit unsafe—it was so dark that it was difficult to see into our bags to access our key cards. While the hotel’s “cool club” vibe is apparent, safety should come first. Additionally, there was no coffee maker in the room or lobby, and room service coffee was $13 plus tip, with the nearest Starbucks a three-block walk. We’ll likely try another hotel in the neighborhood next time.
"Above The Standard"
We had an excellent stay at The Standard High Line and truly enjoyed the room, the views, and the service. Check-in was quick and easy, and our Liberty Corner King on the 13th floor offered breathtaking views in every direction—Empire State Building, Freedom Tower, Statue of Liberty, Hudson River, and even a stunning sunset. Despite being a large hotel, it still had a boutique feel, with thoughtful touches like robes, slippers, a steamer, umbrella, and a fully stocked minibar. The staff was outstanding—every employee greeted us warmly, and a special thanks to Melissa and David for making our anniversary extra memorable. The rooftop nightclub’s music was faintly audible but didn’t disturb our sleep thanks to the plush bed. For complete quiet, the 12th floor might be ideal. Trendy, sexy, and with a touch of hipster charm, this hotel perfectly fit the vibe we were looking for. My wife and I both agreed—we’ll definitely return!
"Don’t touch the phone"
The room was just okay, but several things were damaged or not functioning properly, including the bath, fridge, and toilet. The worst part of the stay was when my teenage daughter, fresh from a trip to Europe, hopped on the hotel phone to call her friends. We were shocked to see a $1000 charge for phone use! While staff did reduce it somewhat, the cost was still about the same as a brand-new iPhone. It left a very sour impression, knowing they profited heavily off a 13-year-old’s mistake.
"Thanks!"
Had a wonderful meal here and everything tasted great. Our server, Tocelyn, was excellent and very attentive. The only thing I wish is that the burrata came with some bread or crackers, but overall it was a really enjoyable dining experience.
"Dynamic area of the city"
The hotel was clean, the service was good, and the city views were very nice. The only area for improvement would be better soundproofing, though I understand this can be a challenge for many hotels.
"Excellence"
Had brunch at The Standard Grill and J. Ward’s service was truly exceptional. We come to NYC every July for the holiday, and this was by far one of our best dining experiences. The food, drinks, atmosphere, and especially the outstanding customer service made it unforgettable. I will definitely be back!
"Only one sheet"
Overall, everything about the stay was good, and the restaurant was excellent. However, the bedding setup was disappointing — only a bottom sheet was provided, meaning you had to sleep directly under the comforter, which likely isn’t washed frequently. The bed itself was very low to the ground with a narrow space to access one side, which was inconvenient. Otherwise, a pleasant experience.
"Good service and good"
J. Ward was very pleasant, and our orders were prepared correctly. The clean-up crew did a great job as well. Overall, it was a perfectly pleasant experience.
"The Standard can be noisy"
The Standard has a fantastic location in the Meatpacking District, surrounded by quality shops and restaurants, and it felt safe even late at night. Unfortunately, our first night was ruined by loud noise from the 18th-floor nightclub, which kept us awake until 4am — we even spent hours in the lobby to escape it. Thankfully, staff were attentive and moved us from the 16th to the 5th floor for subsequent nights, where the room was quiet and comfortable. While we did experience minor issues like a faulty TV and a malfunctioning carbon monoxide alarm, the staff handled things well. I didn’t dine at the hotel, though the restaurant seemed popular. Overall, a stylish stay in a great area, but be aware of the nightclub noise on higher floors.
"Wouldn’t recommend for the price"
Not the best experience overall. While the area is fantastic and the views are great, the property, facilities, and service were underwhelming. It simply doesn’t compare to other Standard locations in global cities. I wouldn’t stay here again and would likely choose a neighboring design hotel instead.
"Highly recommend for large groups!"
The team at The Standard High Line was an absolute pleasure to work with, especially Zulekha. I hosted a client luncheon for 32 guests, and everything was handled with such grace and professionalism. The food was excellent, the seating arrangement worked perfectly, and Zulekha was incredibly responsive throughout the planning process, making the entire experience seamless. Huge thanks to Zee and the team for making this event such a success!
