"Great Experience"

My husband and I had an awesome experience with Ian S. at Gate 43 in LaGuardia Airport on 7/20/25. He was the gate agent who assisted us during a very hectic day. We were on standby and managed to get on the last flight out of NY back to IAH thanks to his help. Ian was so pleasant and patient throughout the entire process—it was truly a pleasure speaking with him. I even told him I loved him, and he said it back in the most genuine way! Thank you, Ian, for being so kind and making a stressful day so much better. And United—just so you know, he’s DEFINITELY a keeper!

"United not the place to fly"

I’m moving from New York to Nevada, and this airline has turned an already stressful situation into an absolute nightmare. I paid over $800 for my ticket and an additional $150 for my small dog, expecting the services they promised: two checked bags (up to 70 lbs each), a carry-on, a personal item, and an upgraded seat near the front—essential for my anxiety and claustrophobia. Instead, it’s been one hassle after another. First, I missed my original flight and had to rebook, which should have been simple. Instead, I was hit with outrageous extra baggage fees for a small bag that should have been included. That one unexpected charge forced me to delay my trip until I could scrape together enough money. Even after receiving $700+ in travel credit, every attempt to use it has been a nightmare—each representative gives me a different story or pushes me off to someone else. Despite paying for my dog’s fare, they even tried to double-charge me for her. To make matters worse, they downgraded my seat to a cramped window spot, even though I paid extra for a larger, more comfortable seat near the front—something I require for medical reasons. My last flight with them was miserable for these very reasons, and now it’s happening all over again. All I want is the basic service I paid for: let me bring my dog, allow both checked bags as advertised, and put me in the seat I paid extra to get—without constant surprises, hidden fees, and excuses. I’m sick of being nickel-and-dimed and ignored. I wouldn’t trust this airline again and can’t recommend them to anyone who expects to receive the service they paid for. Save your money, your nerves, and your sanity—fly with a different airline.

"A great thanks to agent Sixto Maldonado for turning a stressful situation into a positive one"

I had a fantastic experience with United Airlines thanks to agent Sixto Maldonado. When my flight was delayed and I was at risk of missing my connecting flights, I felt panicked and overwhelmed. Unfortunately, the gate agent wasn’t very helpful, so I went to the check-in counter—and that’s where I met Sixto. He was incredibly friendly, patient, and resourceful. Sixto managed to retrieve my checked luggage and efficiently reschedule my flights, turning what could have been a travel disaster into a smooth solution. It was such a relief and truly a lifesaver. I’m so grateful for his help and professionalism!

"Enforce your carryon rules!"

United really needs to enforce its baggage policy consistently. They say it’s one carry-on and one small personal item for under the seat, but I watched passengers board with overpacked carry-ons, oversized backpacks, and even extra bags without issue. Meanwhile, basic economy travelers like me were told we had to pay $40 for a carry-on. After paying, the online system asked if I wanted to check my carry-on for free—how ridiculous is that? If the rules were enforced properly, everyone could stick to a small bag, and the boarding process would be smoother for all. To make matters worse, there’s no complimentary food—you have to pay for it—and the low ticket prices only apply if you’re okay with sitting in the last row and paying extra for bags or a decent seat. So disappointed in this airline.

"Luggage"

When I purchased my ticket, I fully understood and agreed to the policy of bringing one personal item. I had a backpack, which should have counted as my personal item, and a small handbag. At the counter, they told me I had two personal items and demanded I pay $49 to check my backpack. I emptied my handbag, put everything into my backpack, and carried only my wallet (as shown in the photo), passport, and credit cards in hand. Even after doing this, they still insisted I pay $49 to check my backpack. This was my first time flying with this airline, and it was a terrible experience. I don’t understand how I can pay $297 for a ticket and not even be allowed to bring basic cleaning items or one change of clothes without extra charges. I would never recommend this airline to anyone.

"Worst airline in my opinion – avoid when possible"

I had several bad experiences with United Airlines about 15–20 years ago and have been intentionally avoiding them ever since. Recently, I decided to give them another chance because I heard they had improved, and the timing and price seemed reasonable for our summer trip. Bad choice. Every single flight was delayed—some significantly—with no clear explanation beyond vague “human issues.” When we finally reached our vacation destination, our luggage was missing. On the return trip, flights were delayed again, and United kept dragging out updates in 30-minute increments instead of telling passengers the truth. After multiple delay pushbacks, our plane even sat on the runway for another hour before takeoff. It feels like United deliberately avoids admitting delays of more than three hours to sidestep compensation policies. Economy seating is cramped, with screens positioned uncomfortably close to your face. You can pay 30% more for priority seating with slightly more legroom, but it doesn’t justify the overall poor experience. Unless I absolutely have no other choice, I won’t fly United again. Sadly, just seeing the United logo now makes me feel sick.

"Ticketing doesn’t open on time"

The ticketing counter was supposed to open at 5:00 AM, but the employee didn’t show up until 5:10 AM—and there was no sense of urgency when she arrived. She then spent another 15 minutes struggling to unlock the door and get the conveyor belt for the bags started. The whole experience felt unprofessional and unwelcoming. The staff member seemed like she didn’t want to be there at all, which made an already frustrating situation worse. This has left me with a very poor impression of the airline.

"OVERBOOKED, DELAYED, NO CUSTOMER SERVICE"

United Airlines is honestly THE WORST. I fly frequently, and almost every single flight I’ve taken with them this year has been delayed. They constantly overbook flights and then scramble, asking passengers to check carry-ons or volunteer for a later flight. The last time I had issues, I was told the only way to reach customer service was through a QR code. That took over an hour to load, and when I finally got through, I spent forever on hold—only to be told I’d get a call back that never happened. This airline is a mess. Poor communication, constant delays, and nonexistent customer service. I’ll be avoiding them at all costs moving forward.

"Flying United out of Vancouver, don’t come early!"

We arrived early at Vancouver International Airport expecting to relax at the gate and enjoy the many restaurants and amenities before our flight. Having traveled for two weeks, my wife and I had three bags to check. To our surprise, the United front desk staff informed us that we couldn’t check our bags until three hours before departure. Who has ever heard of such a restriction? This was never communicated when we purchased our tickets or checked in online. After doing some research, I discovered that United enforces varying baggage check-in limits depending on the airport—sometimes four hours, but at Vancouver, it’s only three. This inconsistent and poorly communicated policy caused unnecessary stress and frustration. United needs to be clearer with passengers about these limits during booking and check-in.
