"Excellent Tasting Menu in the 1st."

An excellent chef-driven tasting menu in a charming setting in the 1st district. The chef thoughtfully accommodates food sensitivities — one of our party was allergic to vinegar, and everything was handled perfectly. Beyond the incredible food, the staff was truly outstanding, attentive, and professional. Reservations are definitely recommended!

"To try"

A cute restaurant in a central location with a relaxed, casual atmosphere and soft, inviting lighting. The staff were super nice and helpful, making the experience warm and welcoming from start to finish. The food was very good, with thoughtful wine pairings that complemented each dish nicely. The only real miss was the chocolate dessert, which was a bit too salty for our taste. Overall, we were happy with our dinner — a lovely evening with great service and well-prepared dishes. That said, it did feel a bit overpriced for what it was.

"Verjus, an ever greater love!"

My fourth visit, and what began as admiration has turned into true love! Every dish was a masterpiece — from the refreshing salad of green beans, cucumbers, peaches, and flowers to the delicate tartlet of cottage cheese and peas with kohlrabi, apricots, and praline. The grouper, paired with horseradish, leek, and garden herbs, was perfection, while the lamb — presented in three cuts and three preparations — was a true symphony of flavor. The finale, a meringue shell with coconut cream and red fruits, was simply sublime. The wines, as always, were impeccable. Kudos to Garrett for his boundless creativity in the kitchen and to Kelly for her warmth and professionalism at the bar. Without question, my favorite restaurant in Paris!

"A perfect place for every occasion"

This place is very cozy and well-kept, offering traditional French cuisine with just a few creative twists on classic Parisian dishes. The waiters were excellent—immensely helpful and spoke good English, which made the experience even better and easier. A real plus. The soups were especially good, particularly the French onion soup, which they do very well. I went with friends but it’s a perfect spot for any occasion. The price didn’t feel high at all, so I’d return very gladly.

"Top top top….."

Always warmly welcomed here — the atmosphere is inviting and the service is impeccable. The cuisine is sophisticated yet without unnecessary frills, showcasing pure, well-balanced flavors. The wine list is beautiful, offering options to suit every palate. A consistently delightful experience that I highly recommend.

"Not what is was, with a big caveat for Americans"

This visit was, unfortunately, a 2½-star experience, and the reasons are worth explaining. We’ve been loyal patrons of this restaurant almost since it first opened and have always enjoyed its concept of a fixed tasting menu paired with matching wines — consistently an excellent culinary experience. After the restaurant closed during Covid for renovations, we were excited to return when it reopened. While the same tasting menu approach remained, we noticed that inflation had clearly taken its toll — the ingredients seemed of slightly lower quality, and the wine pairings, though still pleasant, were more limited in both variety and quantity. The service was as attentive as ever, but what followed left a lasting negative impression. Upon payment, we encountered something we’ve never seen before in France — a credit card machine that prompts for a tip. In France, service is already included in the menu price, and waitstaff are paid accordingly. Traditionally, there is no expectation — nor need — to add a tip. However, Verjus has now installed a system similar to those found in the U.S., where the customer is pressured to choose a gratuity amount before completing payment, often under the watchful eye of the server. For unsuspecting American visitors, this is misleading and exploitative. They may believe, incorrectly, that a tip is required as in the U.S., effectively paying an unnecessary extra 20% on a bill that already includes service. In my view, this practice is deceptive, offensive, and unbecoming of a restaurant that once stood out for its integrity and culinary creativity. At €150+ per person, with the overall quality now just “good” rather than “great,” this new approach feels money-grabbing and disappointing. It’s sad to see a once-loved Parisian dining experience adopt such tactics. We — and others we know — will be taking our business to restaurants that remain honest, transparent, and worthy of their price.

"Happy"

This place offers an amazing variety of food with something for everyone! The ambiance is great, warm, and inviting, and the prices are quite reasonable for the quality. I love coming here every time — the experience never disappoints. Highly recommended!

"Innovative cuisine and a refreshing change from the oneness of traditional brasseries!"

During our week in Paris, we reserved a table for one evening (the restaurant is closed on Saturdays and Sundays), and it turned out to be the absolute culinary highlight of our stay. This intimate restaurant, with only a few tables, offers a cozy and personal atmosphere complemented by an exceptionally friendly and youthful team. The menu is a fixed tasting experience that changes completely only every few months, allowing the chefs to perfect each dish. From the delicate mushroom broth with two varieties of mushrooms and vegetables, to the onion tartlet with apple and endive, the bonito with potato and leek tartlet, the trio of lamb (tender shoulder, breast, and fillet), and finally the exquisite chocolate fondant with coconut dessert — every course was outstanding without exception. The optional wine pairing with each course was equally impressive, enhancing every flavor beautifully. At €95 for the menu, the price-to-quality ratio is absolutely fair. An innovative and refined culinary experience — a refreshing departure from the uniformity of traditional brasseries. Bravo to the entire team!

"Worth a visit"

This restaurant came highly recommended, and we were genuinely looking forward to our dinner. Upon arrival, we were a bit surprised to find the restaurant surrounded by construction, and unfortunately, the only view from inside was scaffolding. Still, we remained optimistic — and were warmly greeted by the gracious and attentive team. The ambiance is intimate, with small tables and minimalist décor. While the simplicity may be intentional, the lack of tablecloths and fine touches made it feel a bit less refined than one might expect from a Michelin-starred experience. We opted for the wine pairing, which began on a high note — the asparagus and pea course was absolute poetry, beautifully paired and full of spring freshness. However, the fish course (meagre) that followed fell short of expectations — pleasant, but rather ordinary. The leek and potato side dish was a highlight, full of comforting flavor. We had noted in our reservation that my husband was pescatarian, yet his main course ended up being a vegetarian stuffed cabbage, which was overly salty and underwhelming. To their credit, Kelly, the manager, handled our concerns with grace and kindly offered an alternative wine when one of the pairings didn’t suit our taste. Overall, this was an interesting and thoughtful dining experience that shone at moments but missed the mark in consistency and attention to detail. With a few adjustments — particularly around dietary accommodations — it could easily live up to its glowing reputation.

Verjus

Romantic, modern French tasting-menu restaurant near Palais-Royal, with a great cellar bar for pre-dinner drinks.
